  1. ntroduction
  2. Hi there!
  3.
  4. Just wanted to make a small and quick guide to help you start in the game.
  5. Hope it helps a bit.
  6. Starter bugs and problems
  7. Skybox is shiny, bright and purple.
  8. This is a though one ... For me it helped to downgrde my NVIDIA driver and set skybox to medium as well as turn on the high quality setting on the right side. But this did not work for a friend and others on the forums and server. Better check out the forums for that, highly depends on your hardware.
  9.
  10. FPS are not great and/or grafics are bad
  11. Yeah well, play around with teh settings - no ultimate help to be gained - hardware specific.
  12.
  13. Skills and Tasks are not written down for me - Translation is missing/horrible.
  14. When you open the Skill menu "U" looking at the prequisitions for skills and only see codes, numbers and such, that is because your steam is set to a language that is not english or (simple) chineese.
  15. Change it in steam or for the game only in your steam library.
  16.
  17. Chat is blocking my view
  18. There is an option to turn it off, but it does not work atm :/
  19.
  20. Loading screen takes forever and crashes.
  21. The loading screen is also a quee screen, be patient. It takes the longest the first time you load into the game after you started your PC, form there on it gets better.
  22. Do not tab out or try to open the overlay ... (duh!)
  23.
  24. My town has no Vendors!
  25. They are dead Jim (and someone tried to take their non-existing loot). Will be patched (hopefully).
  26.
  27. My doors are gone, structure parts are missing, etc. ...
  28. If this happend after you logged in, do not worry it is just not loaded yet. Best was to speed things up is to go away and come back to teh spot or simply die and respawn.
  29.
  30. Can not harvest stuff.
  31. Lag and the horrid harvestsystem (from ark) do that. Moce around a bit, use teh secondary attack of axe and/or sword or simply die and and reset the char. Restarting your PC also helps.
  32.
  33. The skill-system is confusing, quest are not working, my level is to low, .... !
  34. To get EXP fast you need to kill stuff (no, not NPCs or players).
  35. BUT leveling up will not give you crafting skills. Check under "U" what you need to do. To get skills up faster you need to gather and crast (sometimes kill e.g. flyers for air magic). If you have access to tames, that might help you!
  36. Beeing part of a house (tribe) will give you shard EXP when close to your mates.
  37. The world
  38. Here is a map of the world. It does not show any of teh spawnpoints faction can capture or anything like that. Just teh layout and the 3 Cities.
  39.
  40.
  41. Characters, Factions and Houses (Tribes/Guildes)
  42. Characters are server-bound. Do not expect them to carry over soon.
  43. There are no races, nor are there any faction boni.
  44. You can build your character like your wish and use templets for elfs, dwarfs or humans if you like.
  45. The 3 factions are enemies (always red) and can not enter a house (tribe, whatever) together. Be sure to pick the same faction as your friends.
  46. You can not change the faction atm.
  47. No matter what you build your character to look like, when you pick e.g. the human faction you are refered to as human (no matter ho long your beard is)
  48. You can form your own house by pressing "P" or navigating through any of teh other menus.
  49. The name of your house can not be changed and all structures will carry over. Be mind full of that to not loose your structures just because you wanna change the name of your house.
  50. You can invite ppl by walking up to them and holding "E".
  51. To accept the invite, the other person has to wait for teh invite then hold "E" on your char.
  52. You can leave a house under "P".
  53. The house-admin can change setting under "P". Most importantly the creation and renaming of ranks in the system, what also comes with a rightstab for chests and stuff in a rank system from 0-9 (pretty usefull).
  54. Every house member will not have to put in Pin-Codes on doors and chests, he/she is allowed to open (from the rank system). So use codes to your liking, without fear.
  55. Houses can make alliances with others, but sadly i have not toyed around with that so no clue, sorry :/
  56. Starting out into the world - quests
  57. You will start near your faction City and be greated by a number of tutorial quest shown in the lower left.
  58.
  59. The quest indicator in the lower left will always show you the quest you just made an advancement in. Its just a visual help, there are no "active quests".
  60. Quest (Tasks actually) are listed under "O" and they depend on character- and skill-level.
  61. all tasks can be preformed parallel
  62. you can not select an "active task", the game does that for you
  63. The first broken/bugged quest you will find is the "earn gold from vendors" one. This will simply not work. You can just ignore it or even turn off the indicator in the lower left.
  64. There are a lot more broken ones in the quest chains and not many will continue sadly. Try to see them as "Tutorials" and check under "O" what you should be doing or should be doing later on. Hopefully it will get fixed.
  65. How to get what (also barrels) - best results
  66. -> Barrels are found in cities and contain gold coins or apples. You harvest them with your bare hands.
  67.
  68. Hoe to get starting resources? (How to get grass and straw)
  69. -> Use bare hands on grass, brushes, flowers, and such.
  70. -> You will get gras, straw, magic shards, stone, twine and wood (in that order of likelyhood). With that you can craft your first tools.
  71.
  72. How to get stone?
  73. -> use an axe on stones
  74.
  75. How to get wood?
  76. -> use an axe on Trees
  77.
  78. How to get Magic shards?
  79. -> use a staff with the drainmagic equiped on any resource but grass/brush
  80.
  81. How to get twine?
  82. -> use pickaxe on trees
  83. -> sword is also a good choice
  84.
  85. How to get berries?
  86. -> use bare hands on grass/brushes
  87.
  88. How to get flowers?
  89. -> use sword on grass/briushes
  90.
  91. How to get ores (sulfur, copper, irone, ...)
  92. -> use pickaxe on stones and orenodes (yes there are orenodes - copper is copper-colored, iron is dark and upright standing, mithril is shiny and bigger, ...)
  93.
  94. How to get apples?
  95. -> use axe on trees
  96. -> a better way would be to use a tame like a boar
  97.
  98. How to get meat?
  99. -> use pickaxe on dead animals (or players)
  100. -> better way would be a tame like the Hyena
  101.
  102. How to get Fur?
  103. -> use the axe on dead animals (not great)
  104. -> grim reaper scythe works like a charm but its a rare drop
  105.
  106. How to get hide?
  107. -> use pickaxe on dead animals
  108. -> a better way is the iron dagger
  109. -> better way would be a tame like the Hyena
  110.
  111. How to get bone?
  112. -> use pickaxe on dead animals
  113. -> a better way is the iron dagger
  114. -> better way would be a tame like the Hyena
  115.
  116. How to get farming stuff like seeds?
  117. -> you need an iron scyth (that is sillily crafted from copper ore)
  118. -> a waaaaaaaaay better way is that rare grim reaper scyth
  119.
  120. For all none-basic resources that is it. You can collect meteorites for other stuff or venture out to get it, but thats not what i am talking about here ^^
  121. How to get better tools and armor faster
  122. For better tools and armor you need a workbench.
  123. Since the workbench is not part of a rented house and you cna only place it on foundations (which you can not place in Cities), you would need a house of your own first (not to mention the levels and skills).
  124. But there is an easier way:
  125.
  126. Each city has crafting stations. They basicly work like workbenches and magic workbenches, but are split up into crafting jobs.
  127. So if you want to craft armor, you need to go to the armory (or the equivalent in other factions).
  128.
  129. Bring the resources thee and craft what you like. Be mindfull though that you will still need the copper- and ironbars.
  130.
  131. As of now, you can also not repair at those stations for some reason, just so you know.
  132. Life in the City?
  133. If you are a loner or one of those ppl that do not like PvP but still play on PvP-severs (...) you might want to concider living in the City!
  134.
  135. Here are some hinds:
  136. The city features resources like the world. You can run circles and gather stuff.
  137. The city also has barrels for apples and gold.
  138. There are no mobs in the city unless there is an event or someone pulled them inside (nasty with flyers like griffins, scins the guards are to bad to get those).
  139. dead or unconcious ppl in the city can be gathered with "G", stacked and used for meat!
  140. Cities have vendors, where you can sell things.
  141. The vendor only buy what he/she show and only in the shown amount e.g. 100 wood (not 50 not 200, not twine, ... you get the point)
  142. To make it even harder: the vendor will only buy from one person per ingame day-night-circle. So if someone sold 100 wood just before you got, there you have to wait.
  143. Make yourself familiar with teh locations and what they buy.
  144. You can DONATE to vendors and raise their level of approval towards you.
  145. When a vendor levels up he/she will have the sell/buy resetted (for you).
  146. A leveled up vendor sells better stuff (especialy usefull on the cook for teh food and restore drinks).
  147. Donations also help the city to grow and get more NPCs and such (but i am not sure how this works - since near noone donates^^)
  148. If you kill a vendor he/she is dead and stays that way (no loot), crippeling your faction (hopefully patch some day ...)
  149. Near the stable you will find horses, with a price on them. You cna buy those and they come with a saddle.
  150. Horses do trample damage! ALSO TO GUARDS!
  151. If attacked the horses will not run away and simply die. Great resource of hide, since they respawn!
  152. You are NOT safe in the city. If someone attacks you, the guards will not step in.
  153. If you attack an NPC he/she will run or fight back. The guards are the only ones that fight back (and they will most likely win).
  154. If you kill a vendor, it will stay dead for good (atm).
  155. To rent a house (thing you wanna live in) you need to be in a house (tribe). Then just walk up to the board infront of the house and bring teh amount of gold. The shown time means real days not ingame ones.
  156. How to survive? - Sleep is for the weak!
  157. To survive in this world you need to tend to your stats on teh lower right.
  158. To mention are especialy hunger, thirst and focus.
  159.
  160. To regain hunger, you will simply need to eat (duh!).
  161. If you want to regain lets say 100 hunger with berries, that would take around 75ish (no, not 3!), so you might wnat to gather a lot or simply cook some meat.
  162.
  163. To regain thirst you need to dive into the water (head under).
  164. Pretty early on, you can craft berry jam (45 berries and some gras). This will refil hunger and thirst (but it spoils very quickly, craft it when you need it)!
  165. Later on you can craft glasbottles that you can fill with water (just rightclick in your inventory when your feet barely touch teh water ^^). A bottle weights 0,10 and has 2 uses.
  166.
  167. To regain focus you need to sleep or eat flowers.
  168. Sleeping is only possible in a Bedroll, canopy or Bed, where none of those things is in reach for you to build...
  169. To add up on that problem: If you use a bed, bedroll, etc. one time, it will not work again (bug). Luckily you can pack a bedroll back up and replace it.
  170. But as teh title suggests: Sleep is for the weak! -> Just eat flowers (around 100 to fill 100 focus), that you gain by harvesting gras/brushes with a sword (you also get some berries and gras with it so you basicly do that to survival all the time).
  171.
  172.
  173. Lastly let me remind you that you will not "leave" the server when offline. Your character is just unconcious and free to loot as well as drag around. Get some place save.
  174. Tameing
  175. To tame animals you will need to advance in ranged crafting and tameing first (or steal, buy the needed stuff).
  176. You will need a ranged weapon like a bow some rope arrows and a feeding thing (as well as food ofc). Then go out and look for an animal to tame.
  177.
  178. The rope arrows do not simply add topor like in Ark but will tick topor on the target. The more the target pulls on the rope, the more topor gets added. This is the end of "stuck tameing" i fear. If a mob can not move it will hardly get any topor from the arrows. (You can however strech the rope yourself by moveing away from the mob when you got the arrow in).
  179. This means there is a difference in taming things like sheep and aggressive creatures like boars. The sheep will run from you where you can follow up and shoot more arrows in as soon as it reahces the max length of rope. A boar however will chase you, so you run away and shoot behind when the rope is at max length. Be mindfull that the boar will charge and break the rope easily.
  180. When the topor (or damage) is high enoug most mobs will try to run away. Keep an eye on that boar and follow up as soon as the hunter-hunted-part changes!
  181.
  182. Rope arrows do no damage! Keep 'em comeing!
  183.
  184. When the mob goes down, it is time to tame.
  185. Place the feeding thingy nect to your target and fill it with food. The mob will "take ou" one piece at a time and gain "tameing". At the same time the "constitution" stat will drop (you can hear and see it munching as well as trying to stand up).
  186. If the constitution reaches 0 before the tameing is at 100 % the mob will get up. To prevent this, just shoot another rope arrow into the prey, BUT since it does not move anymore, you need to move away untill the rope holds you back. Then place it. The topor gets added with the next tick.
  187.
  188. The "wildness" stat is equivalent to teh tameing efficiancy in ark. It goes down with feeding (the more the worse the feed is) and will determin what level the mob will have when tameing is down.
  189.
  190. One more tip: Tameing is waaaaaay faster then in Ark!
  191.
  192.
  193. Lets say something more about food and use of animals.
  194. When you open your inventory or any other menu you can navigate to the beast tab. A small symbol on the cards (collor?) means the beast is tameable. Rabbits for example are not.
  195.
  196. Sheep are your best way to get fur. You simply put gras in and get fur out. You can not ride them.
  197. -> Sheep loooove apples.
  198.
  199. Boars are basicly your "Trike". You get wood and tooooons of twine with them, as well as gras, straw and berries. They are insanly fast (lags incomeing!) And a way cooler (and saver - no trample) way of transportation. Their weightlimit skyrockets fast when you skill it.
  200. -> Boars also love apples.
  201.
  202. Hyenas are your first (likely) carnivore tames. They are fast, but can not carry much. They eat through straw huts like a hot knife through butter and they shower you with meat, bones, fur and hide (not from palyers for some reason).
  203. -> they love rotton meat
  204.
  205. With some exceptions its like this:
  206. Herbivore grass < apples < rare drops like lucky clover < herbivore feed
  207.
  208. Carnivore raw meat < rotten meat (if they like that) < raw fine meat < carnivore feed
  209.
  210. magicla creatures eat magic shards and you have severals rare drops here to also feed them 8not going into this in teh basic guide)
  211.
  212. Elementals and spirits need another approach. You need supress stones, weaken them with ores and magic shards and then put them in teh summoning pool to revive. This is all far away and does not fit into this guide ^^
  213. Giant Monsters in the starting zone! - meteroites
  214. Maybe you have been wondering why your little straw-hut gets rekt by grim reapers all the time or why giant element creatures fight one out in your backyard.
  215. Well it is either an event or more likely a meteroite has droped near you (might not wanna build there?!).
  216.
  217. Thos dropos come in different colors and hold items, but most importantly they always bring "backup". Some of those big mobs are frinedly and some are not. Especialy grim reapers give fantastic loot and are easily kited to things like Treants or guards. Be sure to grab teh loot first!
  218.
  219. The drops and creatures will despawn after some time but can be used for some nice battlefields by lureing them togther. Their corpses hold simple and advanced stuff if you harvest them (depending on teh creature). The drops hold resources and can only be opend if you got the right playerlevel for teh drop.
