- how does the live video look? compare against a direct feed from cmaera
- - As in, the live feed here on the touch panel? Seems to look OK. Can switch my system to BT.709 to compare if you like
- also, how does the video look, compared to the still capture?
- - Video I recorded earlier was all washed out as well
- - Ignoring the encoded video(mp4), how does the live video and still capture compare? good?
- Looking at the Renderer view now, I'm in BT.709 at my source. That matches my screen (31' Sony)
- Great, so ignoring encoded mp4 for a moment, with BT709, live feed and still capture are ok, correctr?
- Yes - not too sure what you mean by encoded MP4 tho
- When you say "Video I recorded earlier", I take it to mean a video you recorded in our software?
- Yep
- What we're seeing now is BT.2020 from my processor, and that doesn't match my screen
- I compared 2020 to 709, but cant see a different. If you compare those 3 images, do you see a difference?
- I think all three were in the BT.2020 color space...
- Correct.
- comparison.jpg - taklen with blue pen 709
- comparison2.jpg - red flower 709
- comparison-2020.jpg - red flower 2020
- between compariso
- n2 and comparion
- (sorry, dropped off the bottom of my screen)
- - pretty sure Comparison2 was taken when we wer in 202 as well
- Will switch to 709 now
- That just turned to a really purple color
- correct?
- yes - matches my monitor well
- ok, so far then, no issue? let me compare still captures
- ok, so 709 amd 2020 have a color difference, this is normal?
- Nope - the system should still be able to represent the color of the object accurately - just with not as much gradation in 709
- On my monitor 709 and 2020 have the same basic "hue"
- Ok, in our system which is more representiave of "real".? 2020? ir 709?
- - 709
- so the flower is really more "purple"?
- Yes, and that compares well to what we see on our monitor here too
- Great, so all in all, our machine doesn't have a still capture/record issue really, it is that our capture card isn't handling the 2020 well.
- - Yes, that's my take on it.
- Great, now that I have a better understanding on the issue, we will get our hardware team on the horn and figuire out why the difference
- I assume you guys prefer to use 2020?
- - Yes, that's one of the reasons the surgeons love it - they get more detail in the red spectrum in particular
- - Ok. I will talk to Seth. Thanks for the session, very helpful.
- A pleasure - you guys are always great to deal with!
- Thanks, I'm going to copy this chat.
- Have a good evening
