“I bet her name has something to do with gold,” Neptune sent.

“Aurora!” Fox called.

“Nope.” Rumpole grinned.

“Goldie,” Yatsuhashi shouted.

“Goldie?” Rumpole laughed. She tossed the wheel vertically toward Yatsuhashi. It rolled toward him, knocked him backward, and rebounded off his chest into her hands.

“ADA,” Fox muttered. “List names that mean or are related to gold.” He paused and then started rattling them off in alphabetical order, while the three of them continued trading blows with Rumpole. They were getting some hits in, but she must have had an absurdly high level of Aura because they weren’t slowing her down one bit.

“Cressida!” Fox yelled.

“I always liked that name, but no,” Rumpole said.

Neptune became aware that they had gathered a crowd of spectators, including Headmaster Theodore. The Shade students were finally showing some interest in them.

“Headmaster, aren’t you going to do something to stop her?” Neptune called.

Headmaster Theodore flashed him a thumbs-up. “This is all you.”

“It seems your last lesson as students here will be one on humility,” Professor Rumpole growled. “The world will not stop to give you what you want, no matter what Ozpin may have taught you.”

Neptune was worn out already, and Yatsuhashi and Fox were struggling, too, starting to make mistakes.

“Maybe we should just make a break for it,” Yatsuhashi sent.

“What do you think I’ve been trying to do?” Neptune sent. “She’s too fast.”

Finally Fox shouted, “Xanthe!” and Professor Rumpole stopped.

Her face splotched red with anger. “You cheated!” She stomped her foot. The cobblestones cracked from the impact.
