The Choice - A Poem

The Choice
----------

If it is a choice, as you say,
then please entertain the idea of choosing to go another way.

According to you, I've made a mistake,
I'm willing to do whatever it may take,
in order to change back again;
in hopes to be with you, now and then, again.

I have sent my apologies,
futile, I admit, with my idiotic methodologies;
but nevertheless, here I stand,
awaiting your return into my hand.

I realize my chance of reversal in your heart is small,
and that 'return' may be improbable, if possible at all;
however banal I may have become,
I do ask of you one small rule of thumb:

If it is a choice, as you say,
then please entertain the idea of me going the other way.

I did admit in youth,
what I once thought was a truth;
though, through your eyes, I see I was wrong.
Now we must be strong, as we struggle through a life, a love, that has unfortunately been gone for so long.

Choices come, and choices go,
but they can be slow, and free flow.
I made a choice, I admit,
but if it is so, I know I can undo it.

The nature of this choice,
I almost say in rejoice,
can be turned if it is based in nurture,
and not hide, but actively look out as a searcher.

Since it was my choice, as you did say,
then please entertain my idea of returning the proper way.
