Alastor was a coward who targeted people when he was alive, specifically those who couldn't have a chance of fighting back
He's a petty, narcissistic faux upper class prick who roleplays like he's a gentleman but is really a psychopathic dandy boy

Not even a dandy, he's just some swamp-dwelling miscreant who knows how to pull off the Transatlantic accent and the '20s playboy mannerisms, while in reality, he has the mind of a spoiled 5-year-old who likes to pretend he's old money, when in reality, he's an utter cur.

I for the life of me cannot understand this fandoms inability to recognize just how much of a genuinely evil person Alastor is. Many like to juxtapose him to someone like Valentino, saying that he's an honorable chivalrous man who stands up for people who can't fight back. The issue is that people look at someone who's a genuine grade A bastard like Val and think that the guy who dresses well, dances and has his own music is somehow a better guy because he APPEARS to be a better guy. Inadvertently Viv has managed to actually quite effectively nail the exact personality and mannerisms of a psychopathic/sociopathic serial killer to a T.

Valentino is unquestionably evil. He's abusive, callous, lecherous and plainly sadistic, but everyone knows that. But ultimately he only does these things because he wants to get his rocks off, gain power or stroke his ego. Once he's satisfied his desires he can simmer down for a while. His motivations are quite ordinary for an amoral businessman who's only looking out for #1.

Alastor on the other hand is a whole different kind of evil. Listening to him talk, especially in the pilot reveals that he has an enormous, deep contempt for others and very clearly has zero sympathy for anyone. And despite having a "moral compass" it's been stated multiple times that it could be at best described as an "orange and blue" type morality, where he can flip between seeming altruistic kindness one moment and gouging your eyes out with his thumbs in another.

In summary Alastor is an unimaginably dangerous person to be around, even before he became a ludicrously overpowered overlord. He's unpredictable, insane and most of all, he does NOT care about you. At best you're a temporary pawn, but more likely than not your just going to end up as meat.

This sort of things makes me think. When you end up a demon, you reinvent yourself when you manifest. You pick a different name (if you're not a different stripe like Alastor), you look different, you might sound nothing like you did when you were alive.

So how do we know Alastor, (and by extension, most sinners) isn't just lying about all the shit he did? He could have been a NEET in his mother's basement, and not this 'holier than thou' moral crusader killing people.

You could literally LARP as whoever you wanted because it's Hell, no one gives a fk and, you're all dead. It's not as if anyone's going to fact-check you. If you want to shed your old life entirely, you can.
