- How about a dinner recipe for a single male mechanic who uses foul language?
- A dinner recipe for a single male mechanic who uses foul language? Well, I've got just the thing for you, mate. It's called "The Mechanic's Dirty Rice." It's a dish that's as easy to make as it is to swear at a broken engine.
- Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 cup uncooked white rice
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Hot sauce, to taste
- Instructions:
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef, onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and the vegetables are tender, about 10 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
- Stir in the rice, chicken broth, diced tomatoes, thyme, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
- Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve with hot sauce on the side.
- Enjoy your meal, and don't forget to wash your hands before eating, unless you want your dirty rice to be a literal description.
