長い時間をかけて訓練したってのに」
Ippei: Reserve pilots for Voltes V, huh... Yeah, I really don’t see this working. I mean, we had to train for a long time to get to do it.

めぐみ
「博士達の話だと、
その訓練を効率化する必要があるから、
まずはデータ収集を行うってことだったでしょ?」
Megumi: According to the doctors, the training needs to be optimized, so they’re starting with data collection before anything else.

めぐみ
「あくまで、今回彼らに乗ってもらうのも、
ボルテスVに私達以外のパイロットを乗せた場合の
データを取る為だって」
Megumi: And that’s why they’ve asked them to pilot this time, so we could see how it would go if someone besides us were using Voltes V.

健一
「[SRT]は[ミスリル]の傭兵の中でも精鋭らしいし、
サイズは違うけど、ロボット兵器の操縦経験が
豊富だ。適役だと思うよ」
Kenichi: The [SRTs] are apparently some of [Mithril’s] finest mercenaries and, while the size may be different, they’ve had plenty of experience piloting robot weapons before. I think they’re the right people for this.

日吉
「けど、ボルテスは5人乗りなのに、
あそこでシミュレーターやってるSRTの人達は
3人なんだよね」
Hiroshi: But Voltes seats 5 people, and there are only 3 SRT guys running the simulator over there...

日吉
「てっきり、5人来るかなと思ってたけど…」
Hiroshi: Even though I thought there had to be 5 people for this...

浜口博士
「それは、こちら側が無理を言って、
データ収集をさせてもらうようお願いしたからだ」
Dr. Hamaguchi: That is because we asked them to collect the data for us, despite it being an unreasonable request.

テッサ
「他のSRTメンバーは現在、作戦任務中で…
今回のタイミングだと、日本にいたあの3名しか
招集できなかったんです」
Tessa: The other SRT members are currently in the middle of an operation... Those 3 were the only ones in Japan that I could call on at this time.

健一
「なるほど、そういうわけですか」
Kenichi: I see, so that’s why.

カリーニン
「…どうやら、その3名のシミュレーター訓練が
終わったようですな」
Kalinin: ...It looks like those 3 have just finished their simulator training.

マオ
「終わったわよ、テッサ」
Mao: We’re all done, Tessa.

テッサ
「お疲れ様でした、皆さん」
Tessa: Good work, everyone.

クルツ
「はー、火器管制の
チェックをあとコンマ3秒早くしろとか、
初っ端からあんなに絞られるとは思わなかったぜ…」
Kurz: Phew, I wasn’t expecting to get put through the wringer right from the get-go. We really needed that fire control check done 0.3 seconds sooner...

「左近寺博士の訓練は厳しからね…」
Daijiro: Dr. Sakonji’s training is relentless...

テッサ
「メイン操縦担当はサガラさんでしたね。
シミュレーターとはいえ、ボルテスVを操縦してみた
感想はどうでしたか?」
Tessa: I believe you were the main pilot, Mister Sagara. How did you feel about controlling Voltes V, even if it was only a simulation?

宗介
「やはり、機体のサイズや重量、
そして操縦系統が[AS]と大きく異なることは
もちろんですが…」
Sousuke: As you’d expected, the size and weight of the machine, as well as the control system, is considerably different from an [AS]...

宗介
「何より、飛行しながらの戦闘の中で、
機体制御の感覚を合わせることに苦労しました」
Sousuke: The largest difficulty I encountered was trying to keep control of the machine during mid-air combat.

一平
「まあ、空を飛ぶASなんて聞いたことねえしな」
Ippei: Makes sense. You don’t really hear of flying ASes after all.

マオ
「そ、あたしらは緊急展開ブースターで
飛んでいくことはあっても、そのまま飛び回って
ドンパチってのはさすがにやらないからね」
Mao: Well, we can fly around a bit with emergency deployment boosters, but we don’t really fight mid-air, no.

左近寺博士
「そうはいっても、
さすがはミスリルのSRTだけあって、
操縦センスは抜群でした」
Dr. Sakonji: Still, your handle of the machine was most impressive. Just what I’d expect from Mithril’s SRT.

左近寺博士
「さらに、相良軍曹の叫び声はなかなかのものです」
Dr. Sakonji: Hearing Sergeant Sagara’s call outs was also quite entertaining.

テッサ
「叫び声?」
Tessa: Call outs?

左近寺博士
「ええ、ボルテスの武器を使用する際に必要でして」
Dr. Sakonji: Yes, you have to shout to utilize Voltes’s weapons.

テッサ
「いただいた資料に
そのようなことは記載されていませんでしたが…」
Tessa: I didn’t see any mention of that in the documents you sent me...

左近寺博士
「まあ、心構えのようなものです」
Dr. Sakonji: Well it’s more of a mental thing.

クルツ
「ソースケの奴、最初はぎこちなかったんだが
すぐに叫び始めて驚いたぜ」
Kurz: Sousuke was super awkward about it at first, but he warmed up to it quick. I was pretty surprised when he suddenly started shouting though.

テッサ
「い、意外ですね…」
Tessa: Th-That’s certainly unexpected...

めぐみ
「相良軍曹は寡黙なタイプだと思ってたけど…」
Megumi: And here I had pegged Sergeant Sagara as the stoic type...

宗介
「叫びによるパイロットの気迫向上は、
ボルテスの戦闘において必要不可欠なものだと
言われたから、対応したまでだ」
Sousuke: I merely acted accordingly after I was informed that shouting to raise the pilot’s spirits was absolutely essential for fighting with Voltes.

マオ
「ウチの傭兵スカウト訓練キャンプでも、
そういうのは死ぬ程叩き込まれるからね」
Mao: You’re expected to shout till you drop at places like our mercenary scout training camp too.

日吉
「あ、『サー!イエッサー!』ってやつでしょ」
Hiroshi: Oh you mean like the “Sir! Yes, sir!” kind of thing?

マオ
「そうそう」
Mao: You got it.

テッサ
「…左近寺博士、この後は代理パイロットによる
実機の操縦データ取得でしたね?」
Tessa: ...You’ll be having substitute pilots collect real life data after this, won’t you, Dr. Sakonji?

左近寺博士
「ええ。残り2名のパイロットは
こちらで用意します。ボルトマシンの
フィッティングを行っているスタッフです」
Dr. Sakonji: Yes. We’ll be preparing the remaining two pilots soon. We plan to use two of the staff members fitting the Volt Machines.

テッサ
「…そのことについて、
少し私の方から提案があるのですが」
Tessa: ...I actually might have a suggestion concerning that.

『アンエクスペクテッド・パイロット』
Episode 2
Unexpected Pilot


(Scene begins on the map screen of the Big Falcon base. Voltes V is on the map, with Sousuke and others piloting it.)

宗介
「ボルテスV、発進完了。
今のところは問題なし」
Sousuke: Voltes V, takeoff complete. No problems as of yet.

宗介
(とはいえ、やはり空を自在に飛行する生の感覚は
もう少し慣れが必要そうだが…)
Sousuke: (Although it seems like I’ll still need to get use to the natural sensation of being able to fly at will...)

浜口博士
「各ボルトマシンのパイロットの方は?」
Dr. Hamaguchi: And the other pilots of the Volt Machines?

クルツ
「ボルトボンバー、問題なしだ」
Kurz: Volt Bomber, no problems here.

カリーニン
「ボルトパンザー、こちらも問題ありません」
Kalinin: Volt Panzer, there are no problems here either.

マオ
「ボルトランダー、同じく問題なし」
Mao: Volt Lander, same, no problem.

テッサ
「ボルトフリゲート、問題ありません」
Tessa: Volt Frigate, there is no problem.

宗介
「大佐殿、大丈夫ですか?
やはり別の人員と交代された方が良いのでは」
Sousuke: Madam Captain, are you sure you’re alright? I think it would be better to have someone else take your spot.

テッサ
「いえ、大丈夫です。
このままテストを続けましょう」
Tessa: No, I’m fine. Let’s continue the test.

クルツ
「しかし、少佐はともかくとして、
まさかテッサまでボルテスに乗るとは
思わなかったぜ」
Kurz: The Lieutenant Commander’s one thing, but I never expected to see Tessa piloting Voltes.

テッサ
「ボルテスの動力源、合体変形システム、武装は
オーバーテクノロジーの結晶です。それをこうやって
体感できる機会はそうそうありませんから」
Tessa: Voltes’s power source, combination system, and armaments are all the fruits of super technology. A chance to experience this first hand doesn’t come around often.

左近寺博士
「ボルトフリゲートのコクピットカプセルは
小柄な日吉に合わせて調整したものですから、
乗り心地はそう悪くないと思いますが…」
Dr. Sakonji: Volt Frigate’s cockpit capsule was adjusted to fit Hiyoshi’s small stature. Hopefully piloting it doesn’t feel uncomfortable...

テッサ
「ボルトフリゲートは潜水艦でもありますから、
落ち着きます。急な提案だったにも関わらず、
聞き入れて下さってありがとうございます」
Tessa: The Volt Frigate also doubles as a submarine, so that makes me feel right at home. I must thank you for agreeing to my request, despite its suddenness.

健一
「…俺達以外の人間が動かしているボルテスを見るのは
なんだか妙な気分だな」
Kenichi: ...It’s kind of surreal seeing Voltes piloted by someone other than us.

一平
「あのメンバーでどこまでボルテスを操れるのか、
拝見させてもらおうか」
Ippei: I’m curious to see just how well they can handle Voltes.

左近寺博士
「これから前方にターゲットを複数出す。
まずはそれを破壊してもらいたい」
Dr. Sakonji: We’ll be sending out several targets in front of you. We want you to destroy them first.

宗介
「了解」
Sousuke: Roger.

左近寺博士
「では、ターゲットを…」
Dr. Sakonji: Then, launch the tar--

所員
「浜口博士、ボアザンの獣士と円盤群が接近中です!」
Staff Worker: Dr. Hamaguchi, Boazanian Battle Beasts and saucers are approaching!

浜口博士
「テストは中止だ!ボルテスVは直ちに帰還!
健一、お前達は彼らが戻り次第、出撃するのだ!」
Dr. Hamaguchi: Abort the test! Voltes V is to return immediately! Kenichi, you and the others will launch as soon as its returned!

健一
「わかりました!」
Kenichi: Understood!

クルツ
「なんつー間の悪いタイミングだ。
しかも、かなりの数だぜ」
Kurz: These guys have the worst timing. And looks like there’s a whole bunch of them too.

カリーニン
「左近寺博士、
ボルテスVが帰還して再出撃するまでに
敵の攻撃を受ける可能性が高いのでは?」
Kalinin: Dr. Sakonji, is there not a high probability that the enemy will attack before Voltes V can return and redeploy?

左近寺博士
「基地の防衛設備をフル稼働させて、
なんとか持ち堪えるしかありません」
Dr. Sakonji: We will just have to put the base’s defense systems into full operation and manage somehow.

テッサ
(軍がここへ急行しても
敵に阻まれる可能性が高い…。
だとすれば…)
Tessa: (Even if the army hurries here, they’ll likely be held up by the enemy... In that case...)

テッサ
「浜口博士、左近寺博士、
このまま私達が敵を迎撃します」
Tessa: Dr. Hamaguchi, Dr. Sakonji, we will engage the enemy ourselves.

左近寺博士
「…!」
Dr. Sakonji: ...!

テッサ
「現状では、それしか方法がありません」
Tessa: This is the only viable option available to us now.

浜口博士
「ですが、ミスリルのメンバー…
とくにあなたやカリーニン少佐を
前線で戦わせるわけには…」
Dr. Hamaguchi: But with the members of Mithril... And especially with yourself and Lieutenant Commander Kalinin on the front lines...

テッサ
「迷っている時間はありません。
ビッグファルコンを破壊、もしくは
制圧されるわけにはいきませんから」
Tessa: There’s no time for hesitation. We cannot allow the Big Falcon to be destroyed or overtaken.

テッサ
「この判断に関する責任は私が全て負いますし、
ミスリルへの影響をあなた方が気になさる
必要もありません」
Tessa: I will take full responsibility for this decision. You won’t have to worry about how this will affect Mithril.

浜口博士
「…わかりました。では、迎撃をお願いします」
Dr. Hamaguchi: ...Understood. Then please, intercept the enemy.

テッサ
「了解しました」
Tessa: Roger.


(Boazanian mechs appear.)

一平
「あれが第一波か。
後ろにどれだけの数が控えていやがるんだ」
Ippei: That’s the first wave. I wonder how many more will be coming in behind them.

めぐみ
「最近、ボアザンに動きがなかったのは
ここで一気に戦力を投入するつもりだったから…?」
Megumi: Was the reason the Boazanians haven’t taken any action lately because they were planning to send the bulk of their forces here...?

テッサ
「ボルトマシン各機、聞いての通りです。
我々がボルテスVでビッグファルコンを
守り抜かなければなりません」
Tessa: You have your orders, Volt Machines. We will defend Big Falcon using Voltes V.

マオ
「まあ、やるしかないわよね。
ここで戦わなきゃあたしたちもヤバイわけだし」
Mao: Well we don’t have much of a choice now, do we? If we don’t fight them off here, we’re toast.

クルツ
「今更四の五の言っても仕方がないわな」
Kurz: No sense complaining about it now.

テッサ
「このボルテスVに乗っている以上、
私もあなた方とは一蓮托生です」
Tessa: So long as we’re piloting Voltes V, we’re all in this together.

テッサ
「司令官である私が乗っていることへの
遠慮は一切無用。全力で事態に対処してください」
Tessa: Do not restrain yourselves in any way just because your commander is piloting alongside you. Please fight to the full extent of your ability.

カリーニン
「サガラ軍曹、我々は全力でサポートに回る。
君はボルテスVの操縦に専念したまえ」
Kalinin: Sergeant Sagara, we will do our utmost to provide you with support. I want you to give your undivided attention to piloting Voltes V.

宗介
「了解!」
Sousuke: Roger!

健一
(すまない…みんな、頼んだぞ!)
Kenichi: (Sorry, everyone... We’re counting on you!)

(Battle 1 begins.)

(Battle 1 ends when all enemies are defeated.)

マオ
「いいわ、ソースケ。
いきなりの実戦でこれだけ戦えれば上出来よ。
その調子でやんなさい」
Mao: Not bad, Sousuke. You’re fighting pretty well considering how abruptly this turned into a real battle. Keep it up.

宗介
「ああ…!」
Sousuke: Right...!

左近寺博士
「相良軍曹、敵の増援が来るぞ!」
Dr. Sakonji: Sergeant Sagara, enemy reinforcements are on the way!

クルツ
「ったく、こっちは初心者マークが取れてねえんだから、
少しぐらいは遠慮してほしいもんだぜ!」
Kurz: Oh come on, they could at least hold back a little! We’re practically still in training wheels here!


(Scene ends.)

(Next scene picks up where it left off. Boazanian mechs have appeared.)

カリーニン
(波状攻撃でこちらを消耗させるつもりか。
敵の目的はビッグファルコンの破壊ではなく、
制圧と見て間違いないな)
Kalinin: (It would appear they intend to wear us down with continuous waves of foes. I can say with certainty that the enemy’s objective is not to destroy the Big Falcon, but to claim it for their own.)

日吉
「ミスリルのみんなも頑張ってくれてはいるけど…」
Hiroshi: The Mithril guys are giving it their all, but even so...

一平
「おい、健一。
なんとかして俺達がボルテスに乗った方が
いいんじゃないか?」
Ippei: Hey, Kenichi. Don’t you think we should get back inside Voltes somehow?

健一
「その隙があればな。
今は、相良軍曹達を信じよう…!」
Kenichi: They aren’t giving us a chance to do that. Right now, we need to believe in Sergeant Sagara and the others...!

(Battle 2 begins.)

(Battle 2 ends when all enemies are defeated.)

クルツ
「さすがに動いて戦えるのが
俺達だけっつーのはキツイぜ」
Kurz: No surprise, but it’s pretty tough when we’re the only ones that can fight out here.

宗介
「大佐殿、大丈夫ですか?」
Sousuke: Madam Captain, are you alright?

テッサ
「サガラ軍曹、私への気遣いは不要と言ったはずです。
戦闘に集中しなさい」
Tessa: I told you not to worry about me, Sergeant Sagara. Concentrate on the fight.

宗介
「失礼しました…!」
Sousuke: My apologies, ma’am...!

マオ
「! この反応…敵のデカブツが来るわよ!」
Mao: ! Judging from this reading... The enemy’s sending something big our way!

(Jangal and several Boazanian mechs appear.)

ジャンギャル
「ククク…地球人どもめ、
涙ぐましい抵抗を続けておるわ」
Jangal: Heh heh heh... I see you Earthlings still continue your pathetic resistance.

宗介
「ボアザンの空中要塞が出てきたか…!」
Sousuke: The Boazanians sent out their flying fortress...!

登場作品    フルメタル・パニック!

An anti-terrorist mercenary organization with the goal of maintaining peace through military force.
The name is taken from the fictional "silver" that appears in fantasy novels.
