  1. attack of the kigurumi ratchet drones
  2.
  3. What is it jessica asked?
  4. It's a ratchet suit I explained. Some hackers experimented with powered exosleletons in the early days of the tech but suffered horrific injuries when their hydraulics moved their fleshy joints past their normal range of movement. Since these suits were intended for confinement it was prudent to remove the power assisted parts and govern limb movement through ratchets instead.
  5.
  6. How does it work?
  7. Well you see this lobe on the side of the knee? it's similar to a hand operated ratchet you would use to work on your vehicle but whereas in use a hand ratchet would move in one direction until you finish the task, this lobe changes the ratchet direction once the limb is at its full extent, so that you can move it back and forth. The lobe is controlled by an 8 bit processor which takes instruction from a base station.
  8. The 8 bit local processor is used to provide a faster response than possible over a radio link to smoothen the gait of the operator, since frequent stops and starts would be unpleasant and cause repetitive strain injury. It also allows for a shorter range of limb movement where a slow walk is desired.
  9. The base station controls the pathfinding. If it goes down then due to fire regulations the limb ratchets are all switched to neutral so the prisoners can escape.
  10.
  11. Prisoners?
  12. Well, yeah this suit is ex government prison tech. I got it at a bargain price because the obedience circuit was damaged. The prisoners will sometimes pull the wires out of the ratchets so they can go shank someone or escape from being attacked themselves. The suit administers an incapacitating shock when that happens. This suit had an intermittent wire somewhere and as a result it kept electrocuting the prisoner. Since it wasn't worth their time to find the break they sold it on and i ended up with it.
  13. Without a functional shock circuit, there was nothing to discourage the prisoners from damaging it.
  14.
  15. I wouldn't have thought prison wardens cared about their prisoners being electrocuted
  16. Lol, they don't but you have to understand these suits are for hardened criminals, when they fly into a rage they can have the strength of six men except now they're wearing a full body knuckleduster that can knock the teeth out of another mans head.
  17.
  18. I'm not getting shocked by that thing!
  19. shh bby s'ok I won't let that happen, I've disconnected the capacitor discharge unit. Now let me lock you in so I can try out some walking routines.
  20.
  21. Jessica stepped in to the exoskeleton, and i used my set of compatible handcuff keys to lock each restraint bar in place, one at each shin and another above each knee, then one at the elbows and another pair at the wrists. I had already pulled the hacked base station software off a torrent site and loaded up control firmware to my wifi router. Then I checked diagnostics on the base station.
  22.
  23. reset fault codes? Y
  24. gps locked, ready for instruction
  25. load demo.pth
  26. uploading path.
  27.
  28. The path i made was a small circle 3 metres in diameter. At first nothing happened and i felt a pang of failure that my hardware was gone haywire until jessica moved her leg to steady herself, and then realised she couldn't move it back again. The ratchet had locked in place. Then she moved her other leg forward to straighten herself up and a ratchet clicked again. She giggled nervously and i encouraged her to keep walking. So she did and try as she might she couldn't deviate from the circular path. It was ingenious how the leg closest to the center of the circle moved less than the outer leg and how the ratchet software could adapt to correct her path.
  29.
  30. Then with a wry grin i uploaded a new path file. Jessica didn't know what was coming at first but she gradually bent over until her knees and elbows met the ground and she presented her ass to me. I gave it a slap and she said "No fair". She wriggled in frustation to get free but was unable. So then i took pity on her and switched off the base station, unlocking all the ratchets automatically.
  31.
  32. "I'll make you pay for that" she said. I answered "I'd like that very much" and we both laughed. So then we broke up our meeting until I could develop my toys some more.
  33.
  34. I began to ponder how myself and jessica could play while respecting each others wishes mutually, other than take turns in the suit.
  35. Next day I saw a lot of 5 ratchet suits for small money on a govenment surplus site so I put in a bid and was surprised to find i won the auction when a pallet of them arrived a week later. So I inspected them, removed the shock circuitry and resoldered any dry joints I could find. I thought how erotic it would be for both of us to wear the ratchet suits however that would have required a third party to operate the base station, and there was nobody else i was all that close to. Besides, I wasn't keen to lose status in my relationship. I felt it could kill the mood.
