  6. The three girls try their own hands at making cocktails!? We discuss topics ranging from impressions on events to alcohol!
  7.
  8. Truly wonderful! United by Jazz
  9.
  10. Interviewer (I): Please tell us about your experiences performing at the Jazz events around New Year's, starting with last year's [2018-2019].
  11. Uchida (U): It was my first time at a live jazz performance, so it was a great way to enjoy the New Year. What really left an impression on me was that in the performance, not only were we singing but so were the dancers around us. And though I grew up overseas, I knew about "Princess Mononoke". I can't forget how powerful Yoshikazu Mera-san's* singing voice was.
  12. * Yoshikazu Mera was the singer of the theme song "Princess Mononoke"
  13. Miyakawa (M): It was my first time hearing jazz live too - it was overwhelming. As one of the cast I was watching from the wings of course, but it was incredible. I thought I'd love to just sit in the seats as one of the audience members and enjoy it (laugh).
  14. Tanibe (T): It was a wonderful moment overflowing with a mature atmosphere! I was fascinated by the force of the big band and the style of it all. I also fondly remember the three of us performing together as the Salute group.
  15.
  16. Insert: Uchida Shuu Profile
  17. Affiliated with Link-Plan. Also responsible for Warspite and Ark Royal, and performs at many events, where she earned the nickname "the grater seiyuu".
  18. ▲ A shot of her wide smile as she grates apples today. She told us she was glad to get to make a cocktail that used grated apples.
  19.
  20. I: And how was performing at the Budoukan* at New Year's?
  21. * A pretty prestigious venue for musical performances in Japan, probably just behind Tokyo Dome.
  22. U: I mean, I knew we were going to perform at the Budoukan, but it didn't feel real until the day of. To the point of asking myself, "Is this real?" When we started rehearsing on that stage the reality of it all finally hit me and I got really, really nervous, but when it came time to the actual performance I was able to enjoy it all thanks to everyone rooting us on. The only thing is, the stage was full of world-class performers standing with us... I asked myself, awe-inspired, if it was really okay to be on the same stage, you know?
  23. M: The Nippon Budoukan is almost like holy ground, isn't it? Just standing there is emotional. The performance and the guests were wonderful - it was all like a dream. Speaking of the guests, my family actually came to both the performance before and after New Year's. They said they were glad I debuted there [at the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall] in the end of the year performance, but after the Budoukan performance all they talked about was Ryuugen Toshi-san* (laugh)! I was so happy to be able to on that wonderful stage and pull that time off together.

  25. T: The casting really was extravagant, wasn't it? I thought it was an absolute luxury to be able to throw a New Year's "festival" with people of that caliber! It made me quite tense at the time, I remember.

  28.
  29. Page 19
  30. I: There was also a moment during the Opera City performance at the end of the year where Tanibe-san played a trumpet live.
  31. T: I was absolutely stunned when they brought up the idea. It was pretty intimidating, but I figured I wouldn't get a chance like that again and gave it a shot. It was an incredible precious experience to me - the feeling I had afterward was one of gratitude. I was also really glad that all the Admirals watched over us so warmly.
  32.
  33. Insert: Miyakawa Wakana Profile
  34. Affiliated with C2 Preparat. Also responsible for Chitose, Chiyoda, Asashio, Ooshio, Michishio, Arashio, Arare, and Kasumi, her performance is divided among a wide variety of shipgirls.
  35. ▲ She actually really likes to drink!? She told us she really likes citrus-based drinks, and asked us to photograph her with cocktails based on them or that just look appealing to the eye.
  36.
  37. I: Please tell us how you feel about the costumes you appeared in.
  38. U: They put in a huge amount of detail! Wearing it made me feel closer to Gambier Bay-chan, which I was happy about. The tights in particular match Gambier-chan well, and took a liking to the specially printed cloth. The shoes and face decorations were like that too, and even the belt seemed like a detailed reproduction of the game... I hope there are more opportunities to wear such detailed costumes!
  39. M: The first impression I ever got from seeing the drawing of Tashkent's costume was how fluffy and cute~ it was. The colors also seemed Russian as well. I thought it would be hard to make the costume a reality on that alone, but I was surprised when I saw how the costume was just like the drawing. I really like the sky-blue cape, and how the lining is a different color and such. They also carefully reproduced how the scarf is torn. The level of perfection really was something else.
  40. T: It was a really wonderful costume that made me feel like "French Coma-chan" the moment I wore it, thanks to the attention to minute details. It's a very comfortable costume too. The anchor to pin the front part of my hair to the crest of the jacket, the tricolore scarf, the little pompons on the hat and shoes... I hope the Admirals get a nice, long look!
  41.
  42. At any rate, cute! Let's say cheers with a "salute"!
  43. I: Please tell us your thoughts on reading "Tonight, Another Salute!".
  44. U: Gambier Bay-chan is cute! (laugh) I really like the art, and it's full of expressions. Just looking at it is a pleasure. Gambier Bay-chan's expressions are especially weird- I really like the one with her soul leaving her body, or her mouth becoming peanut-shaped. A lot of the foreign ship girls also appear, including all the shipgirls I perform. I'm happy about that, of course.
  45. M: I like to drink myself, so the alcohol part is pretty enjoyable, and I enjoy our debuts as well. Although our three countries of birth have many differences, there's a surprising harmonious balance in the group of three. It's a really funny and entertaining read. I always look forward to the next chapter and what alcohol they'll feature next.
  46. T: I've been following Morinaga-sensei's drawings and anthology chapters for a long time. They're full of such cuteness and gorgeousness, I really love them... I'm so happy to be able to read it every month! Thank you very much for the cute shipgirls, including Coma-chan of course!
  47.
  48. I: Are you all into drinking?
  49. U: I don't drink much, but when I do I really like citrus drinks. Umeshu or other fruit wines too.
  50. W: I usually drink oolong or green tea highballs, or sometimes awamori and such.
  51. I: Awamori!? That's pretty strong.
  52. T: So is she (laugh).
  53. W: I'M NOT THOUGH? (laugh)
  54. T: I turn red and get drunk really fast so I don't drink much, but I pretty much enjoy any drink. Usually a fruit cocktail like a cassis or Sex on the Beach. I drink "Shigure Black"* and such when I get the chance, it's pretty good~!
  55. * This is another brand of awamori...
  56.
  57. Insert: Tanibe Yumi Profile
  58. Affiliated with C2 Preparat. Also responsible for Yura, parts of the Shiratsuyu and Yuugumo-class, and Richelieu. She does video editing, performs, and more - a lady of many talents, poi!?
  59. ▲ Using a real shaker with ice and matcha liqueur after adding milk. This apparently made her hands really cold, but a true bartender trains until it doesn't, or something.
  60.

  62.
  63. Page 20
  64. I: So what would you like to drink in the manga (would like it to pick up)?
  65. U: As far as things that have already appeared, I'd love to try "calvados". I like sweet drinks, so I now I hope to try sweet ones like that and many others kinds of alcohol.
  66. M: I want to know lots of different recipes, so I'd be happy if it introduced a wide variety of those. Also, since my character is Russian, I'd like to try some recipes with vodka and such as well.
  67. T: My wife Murasame-chan puts wine on the "Anchorage Counter Bar" furniture set in the browser game as early as morning, so if we get another chapter on wine I'd like Murasame-chan to make an appearance... is what I think (laugh).
  68.
  69. I: Do you have any words for KanColle and the Admirals in 2019?
  70. U: I've gotten to appear on many stages, but what sticks close to me is all the things I had to grate in front of everyone in the past year (laugh). So I hope to take on more opportunities to make people go "Eh, can you grate that?"! I hope for everyone's continued support this year.
  71. M: The other two have a bunch, so... I'd like to perform something in front of the Admirals too (laugh). And I'd like to Tashkent Tashkent......!* I hope we get another chance to meet again. I'm sure KanColle has a lot in store this year, so I hope we can all enjoy it together. I'm counting on you all.
  72. * There's a pun here that's difficult to translate - she makes up the verb "tashuketai" based on "Tashukento". It kind of sounds like "want to save", or "tasuketai".
  73. T: To all the Admirals, thank you for always cheering us on! I hope in 2019 we can continue to deliver the wonderful charm of the shipgirls to everyone with spirited performances! As for me as an Admiral myself, I hope to steadily manage my fleet day-to-day with the aim of continuing my all-hard event clears!

  114. Morinaga Asks! The Trio on Their Impressions of the Photoshoot
  115. Morinaga Miki stopped by the photography shoot to observe and ended up suddenly interviewing them!? Please enjoy these densely packed, flowery, girly notes.
  116. Morinaga (M): Uhm, right... okay everyone, how was posing for photos at a real bar?
  117. U: The atmosphere was really fancy, I thought, "So this is how the adult world is like..." I was glad we got a chance to learn how to make cocktails, hold the various tools, and then take photos as the three of us. It was a lot of fun.
  118. W: I had a lot of fun as well. I major in drinking as is, but I found making the drinks fun too!
  119. T: I had a strange feeling being in the bar as Coma-chan, in a deeply emotional sort of way. I realized for the first time how cold the shaker is with ice in it. Bartenders make it seem as easy as pouring, but they actually deal with that kind of cold! I'd like to see a scene like that in the manga.
  120. M: Sure, I'll think about it! Okay, what do you think about the manga?
  121. Trio: The art is so cute~! So precious~! (laugh)
  122. U: The expressions are really good.
  123. T: I've always liked your work, Morinaga-san. I was really happy to hear you were getting a manga.
  124. W: Each and every panel is so beautiful, it's healing.
  125. M: Thank you very much! Actually in this month's chapter, Coma-chan and Tashkent get in a fight. I hope that's okay, considering this is a special issue...
  126. T: I don't even know you, Tashkent.
  127. W: Neither do I.
  128. U: Hawawa.
  129. M: Yeah, just like that! Please do read and enjoy! Thank you very much for today.
  130. Trio: Thank you very much!
  131.

  134. (Was sent to observe)
  135.
  136. Miyakawa Wakana-san (Tashkent)
  137. Reliable even in an idle mood, a reliable person... the aura around her is totally Tashkent's, super cute!
  138.
  139. Uchida Shuu-san (Gambier Bay)
  140. Seeing the way she glances at her surroundings then gives a bright smile, as she is really enjoying the photoshoot, makes me enjoy my time too!
  141. <- This was apparently stuck on using velcro
  142. Also, grating
  143.
  144. Tanibe Yumi-san (Commandant Teste)
  145. Frequently checks her hair
  146. Like Coma-chan, quiet and elegant smile
  147. Has lots of poses ready to go, as expected!
  148.
  149. Everyone was sparkling in a dreamlike atmosphere. I was even nervous but had a lot of fun. I'll continue to work till I drop.
