  1. Long ago...
  2.
  3. The world was at peace. People and their lands flourished, war was a long-forgotten concept, only heard of in stories and legends. Technology was at an all-time high, inventors such as Andy Wellington and Gabriel Alchemilia, who was able to create robotic creations akin to humankind, being held in high esteem.
  4.
  5. Then one day, it all changed when Kaz, son of the god Xeren, employed a long almost forgotten dark magic to wrench the godly soul of Xeren from his body, turning the god into a horrific monster. The world was left without a god. Xeren quickly set out on a path of destruction, with Kaz following behind him. In an attempt to save humanity, Gabriel Alchemilia created an object known as a portal.
  6.
  7. Using the portal, he successfully managed to bring angels from Eden, a higher universe where the demons and angels lived. These angels were not like their mythic origins, they were corrupt, power-hungry, and lusted for blood. They destroyed whole cities at a time, trying to make the humans bow to their will. Then something far more sinister followed the angels from the portal, beings even more blood-thirsty and horrid: demons. The demons followed the angels through the portals and began leaving a wake of destruction and death in their paths. The leader of the angels, a brutal force known as Ezekiel, declared war upon the demons. Soon, an all-out struggle began, with both angels and demons trying to claim the world as their own.
  8.
  9. Centuries have passed, and now the world lies on the brink of destruction. Most of humanity was wiped out and the survivors living in desolate cities scattered throughout the world, Silivia serving as the capital. Angels and demons still battle, destroying everything they touch. The Demon, once known as Xeren, and his son Kaz vowing to destroy what is left of humanity. Whoever manages to claim Xeren's soul, now known as The Demon's Light, and the most powerful object in the world, can restore order and peace to the world, or destroy what is left of it.

  16.
  17.
  18. Darkness. Darkness was all Atticus Anoethite saw as he lay there. He was uncomfortable, feeling hard ground underneath him. He slowly opened his eyes. As he opened them, he saw the vivid night sky through the small, barn window. Cool, fresh air from outside was blowing in. He then turned his head, his neck stiff, and saw three others. Two girls and one guy.
  19.
  20. Chris Wellington laid beside him. He was not hurt at all, nor did he feel uncomfortable. He felt a bit bent out of shape as he woke up in the unfamiliar barn. He could see that the two others who had woken up with him were confused, though he didn’t want to interact with him - he was weary of the two.
  21.
  22.
  23. Over in a corner laid a girl named Melissa Devlin. She shivered from the cold, not remembering anything from her past, no matter how hard she tried. She slowly woke up, seeing three other people around her and having no clue who they were.
  24.
  25. The three sat up. A slight rain began outside, the pattering sound awakening them even more. The teenagers looked among themselves, not saying much. Each of them were facing the same problems, however - none could remember why or how they got there.
  26.
  27. Chris felt his neck. There was a sharp object protruding from it. A microchip, he thought. But he didn't remember why he had a microchip, or why he would need one.
  28. Chris attempted to read the information in this database. “Critical error. Database empty.” he spoke involuntarily.
  29.
  30. "Uh, hello? What are you talking about?" Atticus asked, looking over at the boy. Taking in his appearance, he soon realized that he did not possess a left hand. Instead, a small, grey rectangular prism connected his arm to a serrated knife.
  31.
  32. “I am just speaking my traditional linguistic pattern. Is it disturbing to-" Chris immediately paused in his voice before stiffening up. “Bad weather detected.” he spoke.
  33.
  34. "Well, I can clearly see the weather from out there.” Atticus replied, pointing at the window. “The rain is starting to pick up.”
  35.
  36. "SOFTWARE. UPDATE. INITIATING. REWRITING. SOFTWARE. DATA. Please stand by.” Chris blurted out, falling to the ground.
  37.
  38. “What the fuck? What the fuck did you just say?” Atticus questioned, noticing the prism on his arm lighting up into a purple.
  39. Melissa, who had been watching the ordeal quietly, stood up. “What is going on?” she asked, walking towards them. Getting to an area without light, she had discovered was yet another person in the barn, who she had accidently stepped on.
  40.
  41. “OUCH!” A high pitched voice, presumably female, yelled out. “Watch where you’re going!” The girl was particularly grumpy at the fact that she woke up due to a loud robotic voice, let alone that she just got stepped on. She, too, realized she couldn’t remember anything that had happened to her.
  42.
  43. “I am so sorry!” Melissa replied, helping the girl up and bringing her to the light. The girl had long, dark brown hair, contrasting with Melissa’s lighter brown hair. Her green-blue eyes pierced Melissa with her glare.
  44.
  45. “Alright, alright, enough girl bickering.” Atticus settled everyone down. “We need to figure out how we got here. Let’s start off simple, what are your names?”
  46.
  47. “UPDATE COMPLETE.” Chris once again interrupted, standing back up. “My name is Cunning Humanoid Robot Intelligence Series MKII, your personal android assistant. Data unsuccessfully redownloaded. Would you still like to continue?”
  48.
  49. “Yes, whatever, you just need to be serious right now!” Savannah snapped at Chris. “Is that really your name?”
  50.
  51. “Yes, my full name is Cunning Humanoid Robot Intelligence Series MKII, though my creator shortens it to Chris. My surname is Wellignton. I do not possess sufficient information to give more details. Would you like to redownload it?”
  52.
  53. “NO!” Savannah yelled.
  54.
  55. “Process aborted.”
  56.
  57. Melissa tried remembering what happened.. "I think my name is Melissa. But I'm not 100% sure. I can't remember anything. Who are you people and how did I get here?"
  58.
  59. “My name is Savannah,” Savannah answered. “I don’t know, and I really don’t want to be here right now.”
  60.
  61. “This is no time for an attitude, Savannah.” Atticus addressed the girl. “My name is Atticus. I have no idea how we got here either. Chris, you seem.. Smart. Do you have any idea?”
  62.
  63. “I am sorry, but I don’t have sufficient information in my database to answer your query. Should we go outside and check out the area?” Chris replied.
  64.
  65. "It’s storming pretty badly, are you sure?" Melissa added.
  66.
  67. "Well, the rain will end eventually," Chris concluded. "I’ll be fine, I’m sure I will." Chris then walked outside, unbeknownst to the fact that his body could not come in contact with water due to his database being wiped.
  68.
  69. "Wait!” Savannah yelled out at him. “The condition out there is too bad for anyone to even be out there!”
  70.
  71. "Nonsense, I’ll be-” Chris promptly fell into the mud. “CRITICAL. ERROR. CIRCUITS. DETACHED.”
  72.
  73. "Oh great.” Atticus sighed. “So now we have dying robots, bitchy girls, what’s next? The world’s gonna turn upside down?”
  74.
  75. Chris repeated the line over and over. “CRITICAL. ERROR. CRITICAL. ERROR. CRI-”
  76.
  77. “Oh, for fucks sake!” This was the first time the group had heard the mostly quiet Melissa raise her voice, let alone curse. She pulled Chris out of the mud, cleaning him off with a ripped and ragged towel. She opened what was labeled “Control Panel” on the Android’s neck, and reattached the wires in the labelled places. Chris reopened his eyes, looking at Melissa.
  78.
  79.
  80. “Thank you, Melissa.” Chris stood up.
  81.
  82. "Now, we need to figure out what’s going on.” Atticus regained control of the situation.
