	jedifan	ok, well to give you an idea of what i was thinking, and to assure you that i wasn't trying to userp anything, i have an idea for a communication system that could be used to communicate with the teams making dives. Whether or not anything actually comes about because of this idea, i simply figured that it would be something that my character would be working on, especially as an excuse to explain where he's been for so many months
	jedifan	what i'm thinking is that the pool could dopplershift radio waves to different spectrums that wouldn't be registered by normal radio equipment
	jedifan	the actual frequency modulation would be done by the site to get the signal to be where the guys making the dive could actually understand it
	jedifan	so the guys making the dive would only have to be using regular radios
	TheRaven	Hm, but that assumes it's possible to transmit back through the Pool like that.
	jedifan	there could also be dead spots and interference in the pool that would cause communications to cut out when needed by gms
	jedifan	granted, i'm just trying to open up some story ideas

	jedifan	cause if communication becomes possible, then there might be things on the otherside trying to make contact as well
	TheRaven	The best I've come up with, though, is a hardline running through the Pool to a portable base station the Poolboys bring along.

	jedifan	i think the dopplershifting will be the best solution to use eventually
	jedifan	that way all the hard stuff is done by the site
	jedifan	and it gives the gm's the flexibility to cut off communications as needed

	TheRaven	It's always been an established thing that once they go through, the link closes behind them and they're stuck until they find the anchor and do the thing
	jedifan	well, i get that that's been the way its been done in the past, but in the past there also hasn't been any communications at all
	jedifan	there's no reason why it can't simply be handwaved as, well

	TheRaven	Yeah, but if you can send a radio signal back through, how do you cover the Poolboys not being able to go back and fetch whatever, or have it dropped through?
	jedifan	simple, just because the radiowaves can get back, doesn't mean the poolboys can
	jedifan	what if the radio waves are getting through a miniscule hole in the fabric of spacetime
	jedifan	plus, if the radio waves are getting doppler shifted, there is a huge energy shift that normal matter might not be able to survive
	jedifan	maybe its micro wormholes that are rapidly opening and closing that energy waves can get through, but matter wouldn't be able to fit through
	TheRaven	Mm, I'm not much of a physicist, basically what I'm trying to say is, if we can send people through one side, and there's still a bridge open, what would be stopping us from sciencing up a way to exploit that and roll the goddamn First Armored through?
	jedifan	well, i suppose if you wanted to science it up to that it might be possible, but there are several ways that it could be handwaved as, energy can get through, matter can't
	jedifan	keep in mind that matter requires structures that energy waves don't
	jedifan	photons, the things that transmit electro magnetic radiation are weird ass things that we still don't fully understand
	TheRaven	I have heard that. Maybe come up with some kind of quantum entanglement thing?
	jedifan	that's possible i suppose, but taht opens up even nastier possibilities and complications
	TheRaven	I don't know enough on the topic either way.
