“AI Slop Beast”

Minor notes before getting into this: No actual AI stuff is used in this.

Containment procedures: Slow spread of AI art via implementing various means of auto detection. Implement means of filtering such that can be used by any user on as many sites and other online service as much as possible.

Produce “counter AI-memes”, AI-generated memes developed by covert operatives in locations that should be safe from the entity’s influence. These are designed with tools like Nightshade and other AI poisoning tools, making it hard for the entity to produce memes from existing memes.

Keep physical photos and other images like paintings away from places with internet connections. Any that can’t be moved are to be replaced with replicas.

Due to the forms it takes when manifesting, all images of primates found online in any form or another, are to be run through proprietary AI poisoning tools developed by the Foundation through anomalous means. This suite of software is referred to as the “Monkey No-Climb Toolkit”, named after a tree commonly called the sandbox tree. This seems to have slowed the rate of the entity’s appearances, but has made chimeric forms composed mostly of animals that aren’t primates more common.

Addendum: Procedures are being devised to protect written and musical works. Due to a number of anomalies that may be affected in unusual ways, this is considered a high priority to secure the safety of these anomalies. Several proposals for trapping or even terminating the anomaly have been proposed. One is to create a “prison” with the aid of SCP-826, by baiting it in real time with a written book. Another proposal was a "double infection" route, which was to first expose a subject to SCP-583, then expose them to an instance of media infected by this skip, which could weaken or even "kill" it. And yet again, with a journal that both SCP-423 and this one have been baited into, with instructions given to SCP-423 to kill this entity, with promises of being given extra narratives as an incentive.

Vague concept: With the proliferation of AI imagery, by chance, one seems to have become anomalous, and has become a computer virus, an internet meme, and possibly something more, as it starts appearing in imagery online that isn’t AI generated. Even some edge cases of things like graffiti and IRL photos and paintings are being tainted by the beast.

The “organism” always seems to prefer to take on a primate-like avatar, with species varying from image to image. It has also taken the forms of anomalous and extinct primates, as well as archaic humans. It has been hypothesized it may be capable of taking the form of primates that evolved or were otherwise engineered in the future, but this claim cannot be backed. Notably, all of these forms have some impossible anatomical traits, such as unusual amounts of digits, being chimeras of multiple species (including non-primates), etc.

The entity appears to be becoming more intelligent. An unusual incident was recorded in a Discord chat room that proliferated the spread of an anomalous meme to many individuals who saw it, and in turn, showed it to others. The IP of the original sender + some metadata from the image led to an abandoned house in the Southwestern US, which was found with most power cut off, yet all PCs and similar devices were running, and could not be forcibly shut off. There was evidence that someone resided here until recently, and browser history of one PC shows usage of various AI art generation websites. SCP had Discord forcibly shut down for a few days to scrub the platform clean of it, and administer amnestics to those who likely saw it.

On Reddit, another such incident occurred, but the image depicted a primate with traits of a sloth, male proboscis monkey, and an emperor tamarin, giving the finger at a crudely drawn version of the SCP emblem, carved into a tree. The creature also had compound eyes like a mantis shrimp. The tree with the inscription appears to be a manchineel, an extremely toxic plant that is considered the deadliest extant plant. Other oddities were present, such as plants that matched the descriptions of gympie-gympie and stinging nettle. The head of an agent that went missing after investigating the house in the SW US can be seen, rolled onto a forest floor, placed under the tree. What appeared to be the hands and feet of the agent were placed hanging from vines on the tree. Notably, one eye was being yanked out by an abnormally large female velvet ant. This appears to be an implied death threat through extremely torturous means. Users of Reddit did not seem to notice the image for what it was, as many saw differing images from one another, barring some exceptions, but these users were downvoted heavily by other users. These individuals would be taken into Foundation custody indefinitely, simply to aid in further identification.

Of note is that on this post, something was posting more than the AI imagery, responding to posts and such. The IP or any other forms of identification were unable to be traced. It is believed this entity came into being by chance. Due to the nature of the beast, it can only be slowed.

Other operatives embedded in other websites and services have found that this entity has crawled extensively throughout the internet, greedily taking what it can in terms of images and distorting them for various things, and as it has learned more and more from images scavenged, it has started to begin heading towards written and musical works.
