  150. Note: It’s generally faster to end on the least amount of turns, so just do as many power bounces as you can. Optimal Hooktail is 2 turns for phase 1, and 1 turn for phase 2. Always use 2 power bounces for phase 1, and 1 for phase 2. If you don’t kill Hooktail in the optimal amount of turns, just use regular jumps and shell tosses to finish her off.

  217. [/list]
  218. Blow Punies across gap (unlock door while they are in bubbles)
  219. 10 Jabbi fight
  220. Get Blue Key
  221. Use Flurrie to stun Pider on the way back. You can also walk on the southernmost part of the screen, but the Punies may fall down, so stunning the Pider is safer.
  222. Pick up Thunder Rage from the bush in the bubble room (leave the Punies here)
  223. Go back to cells and release all Punies.
  224.
  225. “Puni Glitch” down to the pipe below. It is luck if your count drops to 75 or 45 right away.
  226. Go back to bubble room and blow the 91 Punies across
  227. Run by Pider in the narrow passageway room using Flurrie
  228. Reveal Hidden block below Damage Dodge P with Koops (switch fast)
  229.
  230. Note: You can hit the invisible block with your hammer, but you have to be in a very specific spot, and if you waste too much time setting up, the Pider will scare the Punies. Koops is recommended.
  231.
  232. Note 2: If Damage Dodge P goes out the left side, grab it quickly and go into the next loading zone before the punies get scared. If it goes out the right side of the block, you’ll have to skip it. There’s a backup badge later on to collect.
  233.
  234. 100 Jabbi fight
  235.
  236. In the next room (to left of Jabbi room) you’ll want to do a “Goombella Buffer” into the loading zone. To position yourself, tap right and hold straight up. Mario should be slowly moving right along the wall. When the crease of his hat matches up with the white part of the loading zone, you’ll want to start the buffers here. It should only take 2-3 buffers. You MUST tap X before you hit right. It’s about 4 frames between X and right input. If you barely nudge to the right and don’t go in the loading zone you’re doing it correctly. Once you’re inside, tap right 4 times and go into Paper Mode (hold R). Hold Up and if you hear constant collision, you’re in the right spot. If you don’t, walk down a bit, unspin, tap right 1 more time, and try again. Once you hear the collision hold up-left. If the sound stays for a few seconds, you can release R. If it still stays, you’ve done it correctly. Continue to hold up-left until mario clips onto the seam as he unspins. Walking along the seam is pretty much an up-left angle but be careful to not clip back in bounds or fall out of bounds. Once you’re on the top part of the seam, walk to the left side of the orb pillar for an easy puni glitch. You’ll want to jump and tap up to start falling oob but then hold down to come back towards the pipe. quickly jump to the pipe on the tree stump and go down it. You will need all 101 punies to follow you.
  237.
  238. Puni glitch to the pipe in the next room.
  239. Use Koops to hit Blue switch in water room
  240.
  241. Note: If you time it right, you can hit the switch at the same time you go down the pipe, which saves time on the pipe traversing cutscene. This is somewhat risky if you time it too early.
  242.
  243. Note 2: It is luck-based, but you can use the Puni glitch across the platforms and go down the pipe, skipping the scene to lower the water. I don’t recommend this.
  244.
  245. Go down pipe and place Puni orb in the next 2 spots to reveal Crystal Star
  246. Leave the punies in the pillar and start the first escape
  247.
  248. X-Nauts
  249. [list]
  250. [*]Mario: Fright Mask
  251. [/list]
  252. During the first escape, go and grab the Super Boots
  253. Return back to the escape room (via red door) and re-trigger the escape
  254. Chase Crump back to tree entrance (leave Punies, you don’t need them)

  271. [/list]
  272. Note: you can get capped at 6 here, so if you miss the Superguard, the fists may attack you. Just be sure to do 30 damage as soon as possible.

  331. [*]1 Thunder Rage
  332. [*]1 Life Shroom
  333. [*]1 Fire Flower
  334. [/list]
  335. [/section]
  336. [section=Glitzville pt. 1]
  337. Note: If you get “Use at least 1 special move” you should almost always fail an earth tremor, as it is the fastest thing to do. If you don’t have enough SP for an earth tremor, it is faster to sweet treat rather than appeal for enough to do an earth tremor. This is also a good backup strat to regain HP/FP if you need it.
  338.
  339. Note 2: Jumping while waiting for the Guards delays him from entering the room. Try to avoid doing any actions during this time aside from equipping badges/changing partners.
  340.
  341. Go inside the lower lobby doors
  342. Sign up to be a fighter
  343.
  344. For the 5 fights you use fright masks on, you only have 1 extra. Do not waste your extra unless it is absolutely necessary. You need 1 star point from these battles to not be over-leveled, but it is ok to normally kill some enemies. You have a buffer of 9 star points.
  345.
  346. #19 Goomba Bros (5 Goombas)
  347. Standard: Mario: Appeal, Koops: Power Shell
  348.
  349. #18 KP Koopas (2 KP Koopas, 1 KP Paratroopa)

  351. No Items: Jumps + Shell Tosses
  352.
  353. #17 Pokey Triplets (3 Pokeys)
  354. Standard: Fright Mask
  355. No Items: Quake Hammer + Power Shell
  356.
  357. #16 Dead Bones (3 Dull Bones)
  358. Standard: Power Shell
  359. Don't Attack With Partner: Quake Hammer
  360. Don't Use FP: Hammer + Shell Toss
  361.
  362. #15 Spike Storm (2 Spinies and 1 Lakitu)
  363. Standard: Koops: Fright Mask, Mario: Spin Jump (if lakitu doesn’t run)
  364. No Items: Earth Tremor
  365.
  366. #14 Hand-It-Overs (2 Red Bandits, 2 Green Bandits)
  367. Standard: Koops: Fright Mask, Mario: Power Bounce (if 1 Bandit doesn’t run)
  368. No Items: Gale Force
  369.
  370. #13 Mind Bogglers (1 Pale Piranha, 1 Dark Puff, 1 Pider)
  371. Standard: Fright Mask, Hammer + Shell Toss (If Piranha doesn't run)
  372. No Items: Gale Force
  373.
  374. #12 Punk Rocks (3 Hyper Bald Clefts)
  375. Standard: Thunder Rage
  376. No Items: Quake Hammer + Power Shell
  377.
  378. #11 Bomb Squad
  379. Standard: Fire Flower (Fright Mask if overlevelled)
  380. No Items: Multibounce + Power Shell
  381.
  382. Note: If you got more than 9 extra star points from chapter 3 fights, use your last fright mask here to fix leveling. If you’re overleveled, it’s ok, it just means you will have to take a 30 second loss in Chapter 4.
  383.
  384. You will typically level up here or on Armored Harriers.
  385. Level Up! (BP > 6)
  386.
  387. Go outside to get Yoshi egg
  388. (Email before going inside)
  389.
  390. #10 Armored Harriers (before Yoshi)
  391. Mario: Run Away
  392.
  393. Note: If you get “Appeal at least once”, “Appeal 3 times”, “Take damage at least ‘n’ times” or “Use at least 1 special move”, you must fulfill battle condition before you run away or else you will fight rank 12 which is randomly generated between minor league fighters.
  394.
  395. Yoshi hatches and joins your party
  396.
  397. #10 Armored Harriers (after Yoshi)
  398. Standard: Gulp
  399.
  400. Enter Major League
  401.
  402. Pick up Ice Storm in locker room
  403. #9 Tiny Spinies (2 Red Spike Buzzy Beetles)
  404. Standard: Failed Quake Hammer, Gulp
  405. Don't Attack With Mario: Gulp + Superguard
  406. Don't Use Hammer: Earth Tremor
  407. Don't Attack With Partner: Earth Tremor
  408. Don't Use FP: Earth Tremor
  409.
  410. #8 Poker Faces (2 Bristles)
  411. Standard: Quake Hammer
  412.
  413. Note: You’ll want to fail this condition no matter what so you start de-ranking immediately. Getting “don’t use hammer” is good luck here. If you get something like “don’t switch partner out” then swap with partner and then quake hammer. Or if you get “don’t use items” then use your honey syrup. You just have to disobey what he says and figure out the fastest way to beat them.
  414.
  415. Note 2: Sometimes this fight will be Shell Shockers, although it is rare. This is bad luck and you just have to attack them until they’re dead. They do more damage when on their backs!
  416.
  417. After you get to rank #8, Get Super Hammer
  418. Break Block in Minor League locker room
  419. Get Dubious Paper confiscated
  420.
  421. #8 Poker Faces
  422. Fail condition and run away
  423.
  424. #9 Tiny Spinies
  425. Fail condition and run away
  426.
  427. #10 Armored Harriers
  428. Run Away
  429.
  430. You’ll want to manipulate your HP to be as low as possible and FP at least 3. You can rest up before Armored Harriers fight and let them damage you a few times to put yourself in a good position.
  431. [/section]
  432. [section=The Great Tree pt. 2]
  433. Once you are back in minor league (deranked to #11), leave Glitzville
  434.
  435. In rogueport, if you still don’t have Mega Rush, check Charlieton again. If he’s not selling it, just head to east rogueport and go into the sewers.
  436.
  437. Head down to the room with the big yellow block and 2 blue switches and open Chapter 2 (left pipe).
  438.
  439. Head down in The Great Tree to the cage room and break the floor panel inside the cage. This will revert the game back to chapter 2. Leave the way you came from and head back to Glitzville. Open Chapter 1 pipe on your way back.
  440.
  441. IMPORTANT: If you are not at 1HP, fall in the sewer water to put yourself in peril. If you do not have at least 3 FP, buy a honey syrup from the Rogueport shop and use that.
  442.
  443. Check Charlieton again on your way back. If he’s still not selling it (that jerk) then go to the train/blimp area to reset what he’s selling and come back and check. Keep doing this until he has it.
  444. [/section]
  445. [section=Glitzville pt. 2]
  446. When you restart chapter 3, you want to advance one text box as another comes on screen to delay the opening cutscene and let the yoshi egg cutscene finish out first. Here’s a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mv09HI2ZF4
  447.
  448. If you did it right, the Rawk Hawk cutscene in the ring will happen. This means you correctly reverted the game to the beginning of Chapter 3.
  449.
  450. Go to Grubba’s office just like before. When he’s walking to the Champion room, you’ll run into a guard before the cutscene takes you. This is normal.
  451.
  452. When he asks you to sign up to be a fighter, MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT SIGN UP.
  453. Now you can walk around his room. Do Bookcase Jump and walk into the vent
  454. Go to Grubba’s office from vent, check the desk (YOU HAVE TO DO THIS OR YOU SOFTLOCK) and chase after him
  455.
  456. Equip Badges
