The game is placed in a future dystopian world. Where the governmant has long since collapsed and large corporations have taken control of cities and surrounding areas.
Each corporation runs it's own zones. They have their own facilities, services, police, government and so on. The player is an operative for Retcorp Industries, one
of the largest corporations in control of the second largest zone. The environment is dark, wet and dirty. Retcorp Industries mainly works in industrial manufacturing.
Corporations buy and sell resources between each other. Although this can be difficult and complicating as each corporation uses their own currency and deems every other
corporations currency as worth less than their own. This has enabled small gangs within the corporations zones to manufacture illegal currency of each corporation.
While it is a serious crime to illegally manufacture currency, if a gang plays their cards right with the corporation where their base of operations are located, laws
are hardly ever enforced against them. Each corporation is a rival of each other and small conflicts arise every now and then. Conflicts generally occur outside the zones
in the borderlands. Conflicts hardly ever happen within corporate zones, and if they do they are on the outskirts.

Each corporation holds a conglomerate over specific industries.
