Speaking of Alastor, virtually every single fic/story that pairs Al with Charlie usually involves...

>The entire story focusing on Charlies and Vags relationship being fking destroyed/sabotaged
>conveniently has Charlie and Vaggie break up prior to the start of the fic
>create an entirely new universe where Charlie and Vaggie never met

This is assuming the story even acknowledges that Charlie and Vag are in a relationship.

Lets not get started on the fact these stories often butcher Alastors characterization to the point he's only Alastor in apperance only.

I don't know what's worse about it, really.
I mean, when you break it down:
>Charlie for them is basically just a character to self-insert with
>they've fallen for Alastor's surface-level charms and cannot think contextually about his character
>they're envious of a fictional character (Vaggie) enough that they paint her as monster (even WORSE than any of us do here on the thread), and either have her killed, or simply have her and Charlie break up, despite the relationship having been established as going steady for 5 years prior to the pilot
>alternatively they have her cuckqueaned by Alastor, despite the fact that Charlie appears to have little interest in sx
>the relationship they depict Charlie and Alastor in is always explicitly sxual with Al showing dominance, and with hard BDSM elements due to Al's "cannibal" nature, despite the fact that Charlie was in an abusive relationship with another man prior to meeting Vaggie, and that Alastor is asexual

For all the hornposting we do, NONE of what we write is THIS removed from canon or reality.

I never really understood why people were always so much into shipping. I only ever ship characters who are already together, or are at least very close. Charlie/Vaggie and Moxxie/Millie are very cute by the way, it's nice to see healthy relationships where both partners are happy.

Eh it's for various reasons. Sometimes it's self insert, sometimes not. Personally I ship when I think it would be in-character and good for them. A form of second-hand happiness/fulfillment.

Which is a shame because the vast majority of fanfics typically focus primarily on shipping two characters together, with the story being secondary.

I struggle to recall many Hazbin fics that are not primarily focused on shipping two characters together. Off the top of my head you have the Fallen Exterminator fic and the many spin offs around the Dictator Charlie stories.

That is not to say there cannot be a good story revolving around ships, there are some very well written ones (the crackship story with Angel and Pentious and the 'Library' one with Charlie and Alastor come to mind), but I find that the story is often seen as a means to a end for the ship.

Assuming a romantic subplot is created (I don't see it outside of Vag/Charlie) the most likely candidate for that would be between the Exterminator and Charlie.

Charlie's the only person there who has treated the Exterminator with kindness, respect and humanity. Everyone else has been either hostile or standoffish around it, with the exception of Alastor who is just in it for the drama.

However at this junction I don't think the Exterminator would be capable of manifesting such concepts or feelings, and if it did I think it would take after Charlie more as a parental figure, or a higher deity, then as a love interest.

Generally whenever I do ship, it's just for fun what-ifs. Maybe even explore the characters involved with it.
Even if I ever indulge in a crackship, I want the characters to stay accurate, otherwise there's no point.
