  19. Personality: Mike suffers from multiple personality disorder, so he has three kinds of personalities. The most dominant one is rather cheery and optimistic, childlike in mind and spirit. He enjoys playing around with others and goofing off like a child, even going as far as to play pranks on his elders. He knows when its time to goof off and when it is time to work, however. When he sets his mind to something, he tries to do it to the best of his ability.

  21. His other personality is more depressing and distant from others, much unlike his main persona. He becomes a bit more nitpicky and moody, brooding about the past rather than looking forward towards the future. Whenever something bad happens, he is usually the first to say, “I told you so,” when he is like this. Pessimistic Mike hardly looks forward to anything, thinking of them as painful obstacles he’s forced to trudge through. The only thing he does look forward to like this is a nice, peaceful nap.
  22.
  23. His third and final personality is one of anxiety. Mike worries and worries about everything and anything. If he forgets something, he flies into a panic. If he scheduled something and is about to be late, he panics. He is at his most vulnerable this way, where his greatest fears and worries are exposed to all. The future is uncertain, so he feels fit to worry about it.

  29. Mike once lived a normal life with his parents. They were once nobles, getting their pay just by doing nothing but giving their king ideas. His mother and father were rather comfortable in these ways, but his father still taught him that hard work is what usually gets food on the table. As time went on, though, the king felt as if their advice was unneeded and useless, then dropped them the minute he could get a proper advisor. With no work and nobody paying them, the family was forced to live in a shack and use their savings for survival rather than wants.

  31. His mother was not pleased with these arrangements. When she was dismissed, she was shocked that she could no longer afford to import exotic clothing and had to toss half of her clothes away in order to make room in the shack. She became resentful and bitter, her emotions building up until she lashed out at her husband and son. Mike grinned and bore it, while his father was visibly hurt by her words. Time and time again, she would take her anger out all on them, only for tearful make-ups to happen soon afterwards.
  32.
  33. There came a time, though, when the family could barely afford to feed themselves. His mother was drunk one day when his father came home from shopping, holding out only a small piece of bread. It was only big enough for two people to eat and feel satisfied. Mother and father argued over who should have a piece, argued and argued until his mother grew annoyed. Mike cried out in hunger, eager to eat something. His drunken mother turned her head towards him and glared before lunging at him, thinking that he was the biggest liability to her survival.
  34.
  35. She beat him and beat him until bruises covered his entire body. His father tried to stop her, but he was only tossed into a wall, stunned. Blood spilled onto the floor and cries filled the room, the poor boy shrieking in pain. It wasn’t until a guard burst in when the beatting stopped and his mother feigned a smile.
  36.
  37. The guard took her child away and had a cleric nurse him back to health. He then took him in as his own, thinking that it would be better than him staying with his mother. When asked about the event, though, Mike only replied, “I don’t remember, sire. Mommy was always the kindest.” As time went on, though, he began to show signs of his disorder, switching from absolutely cheerful to god awful depressing to completely anxious, sometimes within seconds of each other. Fearful of this child and thinking that he was possessed by a demon, the guard tossed him into the streets, where the child began to hunt down jobs for drink and food.
  38.
  39.
  40. However, the others saw him the same way. Whenever he took a job and switched between personalities, people would stay away from him. The child worked hard enough to earn food and drink, but not enough to have a friend. And up to now, he put up with this cycle, afraid that he would starve and be even lonelier if he didn’t do this…
