  INTRODUCTION
---------------------------------------------------------------------------//
I was experiencing with external FX unit and I found a simple to way to use
it on 4th channel on XONE:4D mixer and set Cross-Fader to be Dry/Wet control
of the applied FX.

Here is how I done this, but first please read important things about FX.
If you know how FX loops works then skip next part and go to the SETUP part.


  HOW FX LOOPS WORKS
---------------------------------------------------------------------------//
Every external FX unit like Korg Kaoss Pad 3 and Pioneer or any other,
works in two modes Parallel(SEND/RETURN) or Serial(DIRECT).

To understand the difference between these two, you need to know how
FX LOOPS works.


  --------  I.   SERIAL FX - mode
  --------------------------------------------------------------------
  The serial loop is a simple main signal SEND/RETURN to the output unit.
  It is sometimes with level controls, to let you adapt the signal level,
  because in a DJ setups, the signal mainly returns from the FX unit
  to to the preamp stage directly.

  There are two ways of connection FX unit in direct mode to XONE:4D:

  1)                                 [mode:DIRECT]

   cons: - needs to monitor volume levels to prevent clipping
         - sound quality in common cases is worst
         - you are unable to record sound from internal bus


  2)                                [mode:DIRECT]

     mixer: CH[POST] FX-send >>> -(in)FX unit(out)- >>> mixer: FX-return   /

   +---// all channels signals are processed seperatly and returns
          to the mixer

   cons: - needs to monitor volume levels to prevent clipping
         - sound quality in common cases is worst

   NOTE: This type simply breaks the signal out from the preamp stage,
   runs it through any effects you connect (CH [POST] SEND >>> (in)FX unit)
   and then returns it to the amp (FX unit(out) >>> mixer: FX-return)
   to pass it on to the power amp stage.


  --------  II.  PARALLEL FX - mode
  --------------------------------------------------------------------
  The parallel loop taps off a little signal to the "send" jack, and whatever
  comes back through the "return" jack is then added to the original signal
  (sometimes using a "mix" control).

  --------  III. Difference between SERIAL and PARALLEL setup
  --------------------------------------------------------------------
 *Serial/series loops* are useful for effects that you want to
  apply to the _whole signal_ (equalizer, boost, gater, slicer, pitch, etc),

  ... whereas   *Parallel loops*   work great for effects you want to _ADD_
  to the signal (delay, reverb, chorus etc).


  SETUP - Use Direct FX Mode (full processing) FX on Send/Return bus

  --------  II.  SETTINGS
  --------------------------------------------------------------------
  Set FX unit connection type to "DIRECT" (SERIAL) mode.

  On XONE:4D apply following settings:
  Channel 1, FX1 knob level ==  +6
  Channel 2, FX1 knob level ==  +6
  Channel 3, FX1 knob level ==  +6
  Channel 4, FX1 knob level ==  infinity

  Channel 1, Filter/XFADE   == 1X
  Channel 2, Filter/XFADE   == 1X
  Channel 3, Filter/XFADE   == 1X
  Channel 4, Filter/XFADE   == Y2

  XFADE set ON              == ENABLED


  --------  III. USAGE
  --------------------------------------------------------------------
  Set crossfader on left side (1X) and play any sound source on CH1..3.
  When it's playing, enable any effect on FX unit.
  Slightly move CrossFader to the right (Y2) and you should heard
  selected effect applied on a source sound.

  --------  IV.  LIMITATION
  --------------------------------------------------------------------
  Filter and LFO effect on a one side for three channels.
  Instead of using XONE effect, try to map Traktor Pro Filters
  or use one a FX unit!!!
