  19.
  20. Personality: Dennis is a grumpy old man who cares, first and foremost, about his fruit stand. He doesn’t look all that old so this behavior may be uncharacteristic. He can be a sort of fatherly figure sometimes, as he sees himself in many young adventurers. However, he also has an evil personality bent on chaos and destruction, though it rarely does so overtly— it favors manipulation and subterfuge. This version of Dennis is outwardly hostile but also extremely charming when needed.
  21. Alignment: Lawful Good / Chaotic Evil
  22. Fears: Losing his stand, visions of his past, and accidentally hurting those he cares about.
  23. Likes: Fruit, fishing, occult/arcane lore
  24. Dislikes: Impatient whippersnappers, those kids these days, trespassers
  25. Skills: Salesmanship, fishing, traveling, and an excellent memory. Is old enough to have a working knowledge of most things.
  26.
  27. Power Strengths: Dennis’s demonic corruption makes him nigh-immortal, and if “killed” he simply takes about a century to reconstitute himself. Additionally he is a skilled mage of many schools, particularly with possession/charming/restraining and summoning minions.
  28. Power Weaknesses: Dennis draws on a wellspring of mana that recharges when he is truly at peace— mostly fishing. He also reveals his demonic nature when using more than a bit of magic, and he is vulnerable to all things demons are vulnerable to.
  29.
  30. Backstory: Dbenn’krurh was born to an ancient civilization now lost to time and the elements. They were simple farmers, with a strong community and a religion that worshiped the sun. However, there was an ancient force that lived beneath their land and did not appreciate being ignored.
  31.
  32. The demon’s incursions started small at first— sending a prophet, killing some livestock, ruining the harvest. However, the people carried on. They’d endured worse in the past, being a nomadic people who had built their home from nothing. Angered, the demon began ramping up his efforts. A young Dbenn’krurh was lured to a remote forest by a beautiful girl, who turned out to be an apparition sent by the demon. She revealed her nature and offered him the promise of great power. Being from a peasant family, beaten down and hoping for a better life, Dbenn’krurh accepted.
  33.
  34. Although nothing happened right away, one night the demon came in the night, and ravaged Dbenn’krurh’s body and mind while he slept. It left no visible wounds, but the young man was forever changed. He was indeed gifted with powerful magics, but sometimes the demon would take control, forcing him down a path of destruction. This culminated with the desertification and burial of the city, and Dbenn’krurh with it.
  35.
  36. However, he did not die. Dragging himself from the sands a century later, he wandered the land as a broken man. Over the course of hundreds of years, numerous “deaths,” the rise and fall of empires, and the loss of many friends, Dbenn’krurh continued to wander. He became a traveling merchant, and tried to be of service where he could, but for every good deed, there was an evil one as well.
  37.
  38. Now he continues to travel the land, with whispered legends of the bald man and his fruit stand making their way into some cultures’ children’s stories. He wanders far and wide to escape this reputation and the deeds of his past, but some things you just can’t run from. And it is here that he enters our story…
