  1. The scent of cayenne fills the air as silvery cracks splinter the aether here. Black sand pours from
  2. within, landing upon the shallow floodstreets and floating there like soot upon the sea.
  3.
  4. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, you say, "... right, I'm going to move a little to the
  5. east, so no one else ends up caught up in this."
  6.
  7. The centre of Nautilus Pompilus at Voluta Diadema. (road).
  8. This location is flooded with shallow, crystal clear water. It is warm and quite pleasant. A golden
  9. retriever is here, panting quietly to himself. A statue of a sleek snow phoenix with wings of sapphire
  10. ice stands here, memorialising her noble spirit.
  11. You see exits leading east, southeast, and west.
  12.
  13. The smell grows strong once again as the cracks splinter through the air, following your path and
  14. keeping sand nearby.
  15.
  16. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, you say, "Right then."
  17.
  18. "...you are...bold...friend of My Ash..." The voice is deep, each syllable torn from a growling throat
  19. that strikes a deep, primal fear in your gut without managing to carry a tone of malice. "...who...do
  20. you think...you are?"
  21.
  22. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, you say, "... it was inspiration. From the story that they
  23. told us. I showed no one. ... if there are consequences for it, I will suffer them. It was not
  24. altogether wise. But I knew that when I started."
  25.
  26. Silence greets you, the feeling of silky fur brushing against your left side as though an enormous
  27. beast were stalking past as sand rips through the aether in the same motion. The silence of
  28. contemplation.
  29.
  30. A quiet kitten's mew sounds out nearby.
  31.
  32. The sun reaches the zenith of the firmament, pausing in his quest to allow the land to bask in his
  33. shining golden rays.
  34.
  35. Inexplicably, a cohesive bubble of water meanders by, small floating drips trailing after it.
  36.
  37. "...do you...always expect...death?"
  38.
  39. A wave of starlit warmth and benevolence washes over you, coursing through your link to the Pool of
  40. Stars as it shines all the brighter for New Celest's championing of the Light throughout the First
  41. World.
  42.
  43. You have emoted: Tridemon manages to keep nervousness off his face, though it's obvious that he's not
  44. entirely confident- a few nervous motions, shifting his weight a little more often. "Death? Often. Not
  45. always. But there are other consequences. Some worse than others. I have some confidence that facing
  46. unearned wrath, my Lady would defend me. But for the consequences of my own actions? Accepting them is
  47. simply the right thing to do."
  48.
  49. An enormous jackal's head forms from a storm of black sand swirling up near the Pool of Stars, staring
  50. down at the centre of Nautilus Pompilus at Voluta Diadema.
  51.
  52. (Celest): Gabe says, "Did everyone see that?"
  53.
  54. (Celest): Aelmy says, "I saw it."
  55.
  56. The light spread of cloud overhead fluffs up into sparse cotton bodies.
  57.
  58. Gabe puts her hands on her hips and goes "Hmmm!"
  59.
  60. Red lightning flashes in the jackal's mouth, reminiscent of fangs as it looks down at you, "...so
  61. small..." The swirling vortexes of inky void stare without blinking, constellations blooming and fading
  62. within their depths and filling you with a deep sense of dread. "...so...tender..."
  63.
  64. (Celest): Lorina (from the Aetherways) says, "What's wrong?"
  65.
  66. "Shoo! Shoo!" you say to Gabe as you wave her away.
  67.
  68. The centre of Nautilus Pompilus at Voluta Diadema. (road).
  69. This location is flooded with shallow, crystal clear water. It is warm and quite pleasant. Picturesque
  70. ash trees rise to either side of the avenue, their wide branches providing cool shade to the street.
  71. Two statuettes of shells have been set here, one a gleaming trumpet shell which opens eastward, and the
  72. other a colourful and patterned nautilus. The road itself is patterned as a nautilus, with mosaic bands
  73. of stone and shell starting in a small spiral and then swirling out to the southeast. A golden
  74. retriever is here, panting quietly to himself. A statue of a sleek snow phoenix with wings of sapphire
  75. ice stands here, memorialising her noble spirit. Gabe Ladyn lingers nearby, the air about her singing
  76. with the rush of the ocean. There is a burning illusory eye floating darkly over her. She wields a
  77. mechanical fountain pen in her left hand and a radiant chalice in her right hand.
  78. You see exits leading east, southeast, and west.
  79.
  80. (Celest): Gabe says, "Something is happening. A feeling of dread, there is a voice..telling us we are
  81. so small and tender."
  82.
  83. (Celest): You say, "It's naught to do with you."
  84.
  85. (Celest): Gabe says, "Excuse me?"
  86.
  87. (Celest): You say, "I do not recommend standing here."
  88.
  89. (Celest): Romaan says, "What is it?"
  90.
  91. Continuing the hunt for his dark mate, Father Sun presses forward in his journey, lowering himself in
  92. the sky yet still casting even, full light upon the land.
  93.
  94. (Celest): Mjoll says, "..standing where?"
  95.
  96. (Celest): Gabe says, "The centre of Nautilus Pompilus."
  97.
  98. Romaan enters from the west, emanating an aura of immense power.
  99. A swirl of frost drives the temperature lower as a large snow phoenix with icy wings soars into view
  100. from the west.
  101.
  102. Romaan tilts his head and listens intently.
  103.
  104. (Celest): Lorina says, "Be careful. Hallifax and Gaudiguch had obelisks falling from the skies."
  105.
  106. A wash of starlight swirls in from the west, swirling together and spiraling upwards before blossoming,
  107. revealing the form of Lorina.
  108. A golden glow precedes the arrival of Valashi, the Inner Sea serpent, slithering in from the west.
  109.
  110. You have emoted: Tridemon looks up into the sky, taking a deep breath before looking around at those
  111. gathered. "... You know, I moved away from the Pool SPECIFICALLY to make sure the lot of you wouldn't
  112. be caught up in this."
  113.
  114. "Oh?" Romaan exclaims quizzically.
  115.
  116. Romaan leaves to the west, emanating an aura of immense power.
  117. Whispers of warmth flush through your skin as a large snow phoenix with icy wings departs in a swirl of
  118. frost.
  119.
  120. Romaan enters from the west, emanating an aura of immense power.
  121. A swirl of frost drives the temperature lower as a large snow phoenix with icy wings soars into view
  122. from the west.
  123.
  124. Sir Romaan D'Varden, Knight of the Paladins asks, "We can not help?"
  125.
  126. Lady Lorina says to you, "Are you cursed, or something?"
  127.
  128. As more and more Celestians arrive, crackling red hieroglyphs spill into the air from an enormous
  129. jackal's mouth as it emits a deep laughter that shakes the aether around it, ebon shadows passing
  130. ominously through the crackling silver splinters hanging in the air.
  131.
  132. "What the...?" says Romaan, looking puzzled.
  133.
  134. Gabe blinks.
  135.
  136. The Mantle of Starlight flows gently against your form, twinkling stars shifting across its surface as
  137. the starry infinity continues its eternal motion.
  138.
  139. Sir Romaan D'Varden, Knight of the Paladins says, "We are here to support you in whatever this is."
  140. "
  141. You have emoted: Tridemon raises a hand to his forehead, covering his eyes for a moment before bringing
  142. his hand back down. "I made something. It wasn't wise to make, but it would have been LESS wise to keep
  143. it. So I sent it to the ones who would best deal with it."
  144.
  145. Comprehension flashes across Lorina's face.
  146.
  147. Showing that he understands, Romaan nods his head slowly.
  148.
  149. Lady Lorina says, "Let us know if it goes too far."
  150.
  151. Lorina inclines her head politely to those around her.
  152.
  153. Sir Romaan D'Varden, Knight of the Paladins says, "Then we will help you deal with it."
  154.
  155. Lorina tosses an arm to the west before her form drips and melts away into trickles and waves of
  156. starlight that dissipate into the air.
  157. Valashi, the Inner Sea serpent, hisses softly and slithers off to the west.
  158.
  159. Sir Romaan D'Varden, Knight of the Paladins says, "Or at least I will. I can not stand idly by when a
  160. fellow Celestian is in mortal danger."
  161.
  162. Gabe nods her head at Romaan, showing her acceptance.
  163.
  164. Romaan grips at Ono more tightly.
  165.
  166. Multichromatic glyphs float through your mind's eye, your telepathic powers hearing a voice say,
  167. "...you are wise, splinter of Xyl. You truly care for My Asch? Through all you have seen, and feared,
  168. and felt?"
  169.
  170. Shadows grow longer in anticipation for the return of their dark mistress as Father Sun's chase brings
  171. him closer to the world's edge.
  172.
  173. A glorious beam of light shoots out over New Celest.
  174.
  175. The nine beams of light over New Celest meet high above the city, converging into one brilliant point.
  176. With a sudden flash that lights up the entire Basin, the light forms a new and glorious star that
  177. bathes the city in a soft white glow.
  178.
  179. Time freezes abruptly around you with a sound like the shattering of glass, a heavy, oppressive psionic
  180. power hanging in the air. The clank of chains can be heard amid the snaps of whips as a Desolate
  181. Timequake invades existence.
  182.
  183. The Star of Celest shines brilliantly and, in a flash of light, a spirit of radiant starlight descends
  184. upon the top of one of the city's beacon towers.
  185.
  186. (Celest): Romaan says, "Well done again!"
  187.
  188. A streak of light lances towards the Star of Celest from the centre of the city, trailing a shroud of
  189. dancing, starlit darkness.
  190.
  191. The breeze becomes somewhat stronger.
  192.
  193. Romaan leaves to the west, emanating an aura of immense power.
  194. Whispers of warmth flush through your skin as a large snow phoenix with icy wings departs in a swirl of
  195. frost.
  196.
  197. (Celest): Mjoll says, "Thanks."
  198.
  199. A kinsman of New Celest swaggers to the east.
  200.
  201. You think to yourself: I do. They are as unto a child at times. And so very, very sad. I do not know
  202. what will help. If anything will help. You are best suited for taking care of it. But I... I can't just
  203. IGNORE it now that I have seen it.
  204.
  205. Inexplicably, a cohesive bubble of water meanders by, small floating drips trailing after it.
  206.
  207. Aknarin enters from the west, emanating an aura of immense power.
  208.
  209. As the sun passes below the horizon's edge, Mother Night unveils her terrible, shadowy beauty,
  210. spreading darkness across the land.
  211.
  212. Aknarin raises an eyebrow questioningly.
  213.
  214. Multichromatic glyphs float through your mind's eye, your telepathic powers hearing a voice say, "Yet
  215. even in this, you doubt Me. You worry that I see My Asch as a means to an end." The voice is as deep as
  216. ever, and primal fear strikes a chill in your gut; that of a rabbit seeing a diving hawk. "But will you
  217. put aside your worry, and your fear, and have faith in Divinity? Even a Divine you do not particularly
  218. like."
  219.
  220. A kinsman of New Celest swaggers to the east.
  221.
  222. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, you say to Aknarin, "It's... well, let's call it a
  223. conversation with the Shofet. It's nothing you need to get involved in."
  224.
  225. Aquamantic symbols suddenly project themselves upon the very air in dark blue light, fading after a
  226. brief moment.
  227.
  228. The pulsing glow emitted from the Guiding Star Lighthouse surges brilliantly, a shining beacon of hope
  229. that reaches across the entirety of the Basin of Life.
  230.
  231. Aknarin D'Varden, the Merciful Judge says, "I have grave concerns with your choice of conversations, if
  232. you are communicating with the Shofet considering the recent political event. I have even graver
  233. concerns if this is happening within the City...."
  234.
  235. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, you say to Aknarin, "I made a thing. It was perhaps not
  236. wise to make it. The conversation stems from that."
  237.
  238. Aknarin D'Varden, the Merciful Judge says, "This related to your friends from Gaudiguch and the Shofets
  239. Liar?"
  240.
  241. Across the heavens, the stars and moon challenge night's dark reign, revealing familiar constellations
  242. that tell the tales of myth and legend.
  243.
  244. You think to yourself: I am absolutely certain that You care for them. That You would likely scour
  245. nations and worlds clean of life, should it be necessary for their well-being. Worry and fear... are
  246. not so easy to simply set aside. But I can promise that I will try. Or, at least, stop acting on them.
  247.
  248. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, you say to Aknarin, "Indeed. It's... a touch complicated."
  249.
  250. The jackal tilts its head to the side, staring intently down before nodding, once, and dissipating to
  251. release the scent of salt back into the air with the fading of cayenne. Only a single strand of black
  252. sand does not immediately wash away, reaching out to gently brush against the lucidian's forehead
  253. before falling away.
  254.
  255. Mysrai, the Shofet of Abyssal Scales has bestowed Their divine truefavour upon you. It will last for 10
  256. months.
  257.
  258. A sense of longing fills the air, accentuated by the lapping of the ocean waves upon the distant walls
  259. of the city.
  260.
  261. Aknarin D'Varden, the Merciful Judge says, "I expect peace to be maintained within the walls of Celest,
  262. providing you do not cause consequences for the citizens of New Celest it is none of my concern which
  263. Divine you annoy or the messes you get yourself into. Please try to refrain from brining anything into
  264. the City Walls."
  265.
  266. Aknarin inclines their head politely to you.
  267.
  268. Aknarin leaves to the west, emanating an aura of immense power.
  269.
  270. With a surly air, a kinsman of New Celest enters from the east.
  271.
  272. You are:
  273. Truefavoured by Carakhan for about 16 days.
  274. Truefavoured by Mysrai for about 10 days.
  275.
  276. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, you say, "... Well, at least it didn't go all THAT badly."
