- I ain't no writer, but in the name of oc I will try!
- >"When I was a kid there was these old religious folk who lived near the orphanage, you know the type, nice and polite unless you listened to metal music or wore your hair a little too long."
- >"I never was big on god and all that, always felt unreal. They told me, "If you keep acting like a punk and don't shape up, you're gonna go to hell!"
- >"Guess they were right , but it wasn't the long hair, some music or my bad attitude that sent me to hell."
- >"No no no, I had a first class ticket there from birth, courtesy of my great-great-grandfather. He made a pact with a demon to be it's host and ever since then it was passed down, father to son like some congenital parasite"
- >"See the demon, this thing, it fks with it's your head, makes you think you're in control while it slowly takes you over.
- >"Not me though. With some help from a friend I put in check, on a leash, so to say. It had to use my dead girlfriend's soul to get me to do it's dirty work"
- >"But now, I managed to drag the both of us down to hell and free my girl. Now she's back on earth, possessed by some angelic ass-wipe while me and the demon are stuck down here with the worst humanity has to offer and no way out."
- >"Or at least, that's what I thought."

- >On the outskirts of Pentagram City, a lone figure slowly shuffled out of the surrounding wasteland.
- >It's feet barely leaving the ground as they moved forward, a trail of blooded footprints showing where he'd come from.
- >the figure made their way towards a small two-story house, the dull sound of music rattling the windows
- >Dim light poured from a flickering bulb above the backdoor, illuminating the figure as they got closer
- >The shadows seemed to peel off of them, revealing a thin, starved man who was barely standing
- 1/3
- -
- >A shadow of the man he once was, his face gaunt and leathery, his hair stiff and shiny from the oils that had accumulated in it
- >At one time his suit could have been considered high class, now it was just as miserable as the man who wore them
- >The suit jacket was nearly in tatters and covered grime, the vest and dress shirt while spared the worst the elements, were still threadbare and torn in places
- >The pants had fared poorly as well, with everything beneath the knee completely torn to shreds, as if they had been dragged through razor wire
- >His shoes were gone, he had wore through the sole and his socks suffered a similar fate. his feet blistered and bled, showing bone
- >All-in-all he was a pitiful sight to behold as he slowly made his way up the steps to the back door, leaning heavily on the railing to keep from falling
- >He reached out and grabbed the doorknob, to his surprise finding it unlocked and the door swung open without issue
- >With the door now open the music revealed itself as overwhelmingly loud generic rap, the sound so strong that it nearly pushed the Man back down the stairs
- >upon entering, he was greeted with a scene of five demonic figures enthralled in various debaucherous activities in a large open room
- >Two were pouring drinks from a keg near the far wall, to their left another two swapped spit to the point it clear they were about to need a room soon
- >the last one sat on a couch to the right of the backdoor, his back to the Man, hunched over a coffee table, his large frame blocking what he was doing from view
- >Suddenly one of the demonic partyers, a tall red thin one in a gray hoodie and black pants noticed the Man
- >the red demon rushed towards the speaker system and pressed a button, turning it off, which drew the large demons attention
- 2/3
- -
- >"Yo Styxs, the fk you doin?!!?"
- >the demon, now named "Styxs", pointed to the Man
- >"Some homeless fker just wandered in!!"
- >the large demon turned to look at the trespasser, fixing him with a look of pure rage
- >"GET THE FK OUT!!"
- >the Man cleared his throat as the large demon made his way around the couch towards him and with a dry rasp asked
- >"Glass of water?"
- >"FK OFF"
- >the large demon, now just a few steps from the Man, cocked his arm back and prepared to throw a punch
- >he was interrupted by a dark blur that came from behind the Man, striking him in the jaw and sending him reeling back
- >"Gah-FK, YOU LITTLE SHIIIIIII-"
- >a second blur swept his legs out from underneath him, causing the demon to fall on to his back
- >stunned, he was unable to react when something grabbed his ankles picked him up off the ground
- >he was spun around to face the Man, who now had his arms crossed with the palms out and fingers curled, as if grabbing something
- >"Huh?!"
- >the demon now noticed the two tendrils extending from the Man's back, and followed them until they reached his ankles
- >he had just enough time to realize what was about to happen
- >"WHA-"
- >The sound of rending flesh filled the room as the tendrils pulled in opposite directions, ripping the demon down the middle in a shower of blood and viscera
- >blood coated the Man who, much to the horror of the onlookers, went from skin-and-bones to healthy glow in a matter of seconds
- >He cleared his throat once more and with rather normal voice, asked
- >"So, how about that glass of water?"
- >immediately, the remaining four pulled out a assortment of firearms, all aimed at the Man
- >"Guess not"

- >How do you do it
- By drinking whiskey and rum by the pint and having mental problems that should probably be treated with actual medication instead of alcohol but screw that, that would mean getting mired in the healthcare system.
- -
- Not written anything for HH or HB yet but I've done stuff for other slow drip feed fandoms. Anywho, the secret is to treat writing like building muscle. Anyone can do it, just takes time and commitment. If its something you want to get better at you'll make time for it. Other than that, read a lot of stories if all different genr4s and types. Finally, if you really want to get good, find folks whose stuff you like or are asking for help and edit/critique their stuff.

- Thanks Anon I'll keep that in mind, sometimes it feels like I have entire sagas in my head, just don't know how to put them to paper. This was mostly just a flash of inspiration and a lack of stories about this character though, not sure if/how I'll continue it.
- Side note, how has this character, Jackie Estacado, not been used here before?
- >Controls superpowerful demon
- >Ran a mafia family
- >Is canonically stuck in hell
- that's a lot of potential for one guy, and that's ignoring the comics!
- -
- What I do if I get ideas for a long drawn out story is essentially vomit out the various details in a semi-organized way. Like I'll put character interaction for X and Y in a specific section, then details about various settings in K section, and so on. As well as potentially making a order of events diagram if I am particularly autistic that day.
- -
- And for shorter things that have no prior thought other than a prompt, I write around half of it before posting anything, and make edits to the plot and give a good bit of thought as for how to bring it to the events I want to happen while doing this so I can set it up easier
- -
- Next bit of advice I can give, write out the whole story as key beats and then connect them with details.

- >I have entire sagas in my head, just don't know how to put them to paper
- I feel that. For me, I'll often have individual scenes or sometimes just sentences for a "saga" pop up in my head, while the rest remains really nebulous. The thing to do is just write them down as soon as they come to you, then return to it later and start building the story from there. Example:
- The last 2 lines:
- >You're in the arms of a greater demon, holding you close to their unholy heart
- >Everything is going to be okay
- Came to me on the heels of my second glass of scotch, I jotted them down, and then just asked myself "okay how do we get here?". Pretty much wrote the whole thing from the ending back
