  4. I live! I've got the week off so I'm going to try and get a few more parts out. Previous Dadgore stuff here: h ttps://archiveofourown.org/series/3127536
  5. >Susie hated when she was right.
  6. >Following Noelle, the duo found that the path she went down led to a giant slope.
  7. >With no better options they began to slide down, only to be set upon by a hail of projectiles coming from some kind of robot riding a floating turntable.
  8. >Joining the robot was clearly Berdly wearing some kind of neon orange and green soldier costume with accompanying rifle.
  9. >The blue bird didn’t seem to realize that whatever speech he was saying was lost to the wind.
  10. >Seemingly having enough of the bullets, Kris launched himself from the slope and onto the turntable.
  11. >Berdly could only get out a panicked squawk before crashing into the pillar above Susie.
  12. >Quickly weaving to the side to avoid the rolling wreckage, Susie frantically scanned for Kris.
  13. >The psycho in question burst forth from the smoke, flipping rapidly in a perfect L shape.
  14. >Susie was briefly awestruck, until Kris hit the slope head first and began tumbling just as bad as the twisted metal behind him.
  15. >"God Dammit Kris!" Susie swore, veering into the falling machinery to catch her compatriot.
  16. >With some expert maneuvering she was able to grab Kris by the back of his armor and slide back away from danger.
  17. >Unfortunately, Berdly chose that moment to activate a pair of neon wings in a burst of speed.
  18. >The sudden propulsion knocking the ruined turntable into the Lightner heroes and sending them flying down past their intended landing and into the abyss below.
  19. >With a sickening crunch Susie and Kris landed in a heap of garbage.
  20. >"Ugh…" Susie groaned, rolling off of a bunch of annihilated cans, "Where the hell are we?"
  21. -
  22. >Removing themselves from the trash pile, the duo found themselves in what looked like a landfill.
  23. >One that was seemingly overflowing. There was an odd mishmash of glitches, garbage, and games all around them.
  24. >If Kris had to guess, this was related to all the stuff Berdly would install and remove on the computers for his friends. Not that he and Noelle were much better, having run several rpgs and MMO’s on the old Librarbry pc’s.
  25. >’Someone should really clean these out.’ He thought idly, as Susie immediately got distracted by a skateboard grinding a rail on its own.
  26. >”Dude check this out!” The purple dragoness called out as she tried to hop on it, only to have it vanish and rack herself on the rail. “AH FUCK!”
  27. >Kris let out a rasping laugh that quickly turned into coughing as he went over to help his epic destiny partner up.
  28. >For the second time that day Susie found herself on the other end of Kris’ proffered hand. She wanted to bat it away, but one look at that dopey grin made her reach out and get pulled up.
  29. >The bruiser did stay slightly hunched over and groaned for some extra comedic effect, earning another raspy chuckle.
  30. >Finally straightening out, she noticed him pointing at the rematerialized skateboard questioningly.
  31. >”What? I can actually skate ya know. Just not when the board disappears!” She retorted faux-haughtily.
  32. >Kris gave an exaggerated thumbs up and nod in turn.
  33. >”I’m serious!” Susie exclaimed as they began walking. “I just need a new board is all.”
  34. >Kris nodded along while rolling his eyes. He’d hate to say it, but these moments with Susie were nice.
  35. -
  36. >When walking with Noelle she chattered endlessly, like she was allergic to any silence. Not to say he minded but it was hard to keep up with her stream of conscious. With Susie it felt like more of a conversation even if he didn’t speak. She would check him for a reaction and bizarrely had a decent read on his non-verbal queues.
  37. >Like most good things on these adventures it didn’t last. The pair soon found themselves ambushed by a bunch of various viruses, pop-up ads, and mice.
  38. >The former they were able to get by with more of Susie’s bluster, while the latter calmed down to Kris’ keystrokes. The pop-ups on the other hand…they both silently agreed to never speak of again. The only way to get rid of them was by closing them, which caused both to see things they would’ve preferred to keep secret. A solemn nod accompanying a pair of bright blushes sealed the deal.
  39. >An awkward silence reigned over them as they moved through more alleyways.
  40. >Eventually the silence was broken by a familiar voice, screaming for help.
  41. >”Blue boy! Purple girl! SOMEBODY!”
  42. >Embarrassment quickly forgotten, the two charged ahead towards their friend.
  43. That's it for now! I've already got the next bit outlined and will be posting later this week.
