- Villager - Today at 4:46 AM
- soooooo
- let me tell you
- how the pool literally almost exploded today
- and how i fixed it
- Snap - Today at 4:46 AM
- Just another day in the life of Omar
- Villager - Today at 4:47 AM
- you know the sound HIGH pressure air makes when it is escaping from a pinhole?
- Snap - Today at 4:47 AM
- Nope
- Villager - Today at 4:47 AM
- well, imagine the sound you get when you blow really hard into a recorder
- Snap - Today at 4:47 AM
- That’s kinda what I imagined
- Villager - Today at 4:47 AM
- just slightly less loud but more high pitched
- anyways
- i get to work, and all i can hear is this sound
- FROM OUTSIDE
- Snap - Today at 4:48 AM
- Nobody else bothers to mention it
- Villager - Today at 4:48 AM
- meaning it is passing 3 layers of 3ft concrete
- Snap - Today at 4:48 AM
- Lmfao
- I’m sure it’s fine.
- Villager - Today at 4:48 AM
- i walk inside and none of the staff seem bothered
- Snap - Today at 4:48 AM
- Sometimes things just whistle
- Villager - Today at 4:48 AM
- it was not a whistle
- it was a fucking shrieking sound
- of a pump that pumps 323 gallons a second about to explode
- Snap - Today at 4:49 AM
- S-Sometimes things just shriek
- >_>
- Villager - Today at 4:49 AM
- i get inside the building and i am almost fucking deafened by the sound
- BUT
- Snap - Today at 4:49 AM
- Lmao
- Villager - Today at 4:49 AM
- the pooldeck is operating normally
- NONE of the supervisory staff is present
- for some reason
- so i go downstairs to check it out, becuase i KNEW it was a pump
- so we have 2 pumps for the main swimming pool. only one is operational. and we switch them every 2 weeks
- some asshat had opened the new pump WITHOUT opening the flow valves for that pump
- so basically, since the pump works on a vacuum, it was creating a vacuum between the valve and the pump
- which then caused the other side of the seal to create another vacuum because it is pumping nothing into the pool
- THANK GOODNESS we have a small valve to allow air into the pump
- we dont usually want an airlock in the system because it makes water stop flowing
- but i thought it was better than having half my face and the rest of the building blown to bits
- so i open the valve and immediately
- imagine a fucking black hole
- Snap - Today at 4:52 AM
- What the actual fuck.
- Villager - Today at 4:52 AM
- it sucked my key out of my hand
- that is how strong the vacuum was in the pump
- it took 12 seconds for the pressure to equalize
- which allowed me to turn the pump off safely
- i did that
- Snap - Today at 4:53 AM
- Everyone there is fucking incompetent
- Villager - Today at 4:53 AM
- and then opened the valves
- and restarted the pump
- GUESS WHAT
- they also forgot to close the other pumps valves when they turned it off
- so basically, the only reason the pool did not flood the basement is because the vacuum was holding the water in place XD
- which when i removed it,
- caused about 120 gallons of water per second to flood into the basement
- which really hurt
- cuz i had to stand there and close the valve
- so no one would get electrocuted
- so anyways i did that
- and then i went upstairs to start my shift
- Snap - Today at 4:55 AM
- Wow
- What the hell man
- Villager - Today at 4:55 AM
- so that was around 5-6pm
- around 10, when we close
- Snap - Today at 4:55 AM
- I feel like you should get a new job just do you don’t fucking die
- Villager - Today at 4:55 AM
- lol
- right
- but you see, i get 'hazard pay'
- so it's fine
- i was doing my usual checklist of routine items to close the pool and make sure the chemicals are not leaking and all that
- WHEN I HEAR THE FUCKING SHRIEKING AGAIN
- so i go downstairs
- and i see my coworker
- had just turned off the pump that i had just fixed
- and turned the OTHER ONE, the one with the closed valves, on again
- THE ONE I HAD JUST TURNED OFF
- GUESS WHAT HE DID NOT DO AGAIN
- this time it actually damaged some component in the pump because it triggered a failsafe, meaning i could not start the pumps, either one
- meaning i had to call the emergency plummer on call and have him come in to replace w/e was broken
- meaning i had to DRAIN the entire extra tank of water in the basement
- Snap - Today at 4:58 AM
- Oh my god
- Villager - Today at 4:58 AM
- which contains
- approximately 20k gallons of water
- let me tell you draining 80000 litres of water with a 4 inch pipe takes about 3 hours
- because i cant let it all drain at once
- or the pipe explodes
- so now it's 11
- and i;m STILL AT WORK
- my other coworker peaced out when his shift ended..
- k
- Snap - Today at 4:59 AM
- What
- Villager - Today at 4:59 AM
- that pissed me off
- but w.e
- Snap - Today at 4:59 AM
- HE was the one that fucked it up
- Villager - Today at 5:00 AM
- so now the plumber gets there
- and starts opening the pump
- replaces the piece
- and leaves
- without telling me
- Snap - Today at 5:00 AM
- xD
- Villager - Today at 5:00 AM
- so i'm sitting upstairs waiting for himi to finish with my dick in my hand(edited)
- at 12 i'm like, k, he fucking died
- go downstairs
- and no one is there
- my first thought was :'holy shit the pump exploded and evaporated his body'
- then i realized that was retarded
- Snap - Today at 5:01 AM
- Lmfao
- Villager - Today at 5:01 AM
- and checked outside for his car
- NOPE
- Snap - Today at 5:01 AM
- It evaporated his car also.
- Villager - Today at 5:01 AM
- GUESS WHAT THE BEST PART WAS
- HE FIXED THE WRONG PUMP
- Snap - Today at 5:01 AM
- LMFAO
- Villager - Today at 5:01 AM
- so i had to awkwardly call him back
- Snap - Today at 5:01 AM
- Oh my god
- Villager - Today at 5:01 AM
- and tell him to do his job again
- or i could not leave
- .............
- Snap - Today at 5:02 AM
- That's fucking amazing
- Villager - Today at 5:02 AM
- so now it's like 12:30
- Snap - Today at 5:02 AM
- Holy shit
- Villager - Today at 5:02 AM
- 2 and a half hours after my shift
- and i'm still there just doing nothing
- he comes in, fixes the thing, and leaves again
- i'm like K, I SWEAR TO GOD IF HE FIXED THE WRONG PUMP AGAIN I WILL MURDER A BITCH
- nope, this time it was fine
- but forgot to sign the emergency call out log
- so he wont get paid
- XD
- Snap - Today at 5:03 AM
- HAH
- Villager - Today at 5:03 AM
- now though, it is 1 AM and i have to REFILL the 20 thousand gallon tank so the pump has something to move around
- then i have to add all the appropriate chemicals and filtering agents
- and then make sure the pool upstairs does not flood while the pump starts up
- that took another 2 hours
- or so
- i got home at 3:30am
- Snap - Today at 5:04 AM
- What the hell
- Why was this all your responsibility exactly?
- Villager - Today at 5:05 AM
- because i was the most senior staff there
- and if i did not fix it the pool would not be there in the mornig
- Snap - Today at 5:05 AM
- THAT'S how it works? You aren't even a fulltime employee
- It should be that you call your manager and they deal with it
- Villager - Today at 5:05 AM
- there WERE NO full time employees..
- yeah
- i called
- he did not answer
- Snap - Today at 5:05 AM
- Wtf
- Villager - Today at 5:05 AM
- a call from his employee at 1 am
- WHAT COULD BE WRONG AT THIS HOUR
- so anyways
- if my boss does not approve my 1 hour of overtime i am fucking complaining to someone about everything
- like holy shit
- i'm so irritated right now
- i cant even sleep
- Snap - Today at 5:07 AM
- That's all you got? One fucking hour of overtime?
- Villager - Today at 5:07 AM
- well yeh
- the rest of my shift was in an 8 hour period
- so i cant
- Snap - Today at 5:07 AM
- Right...
- That's excellent
- Villager - Today at 5:08 AM
- yeah
- NEW MESSAGES
- Villager - Today at 5:09 AM
- again, i like tinkering with stuff, it would be a lot better if the things were not trying to kill me while i worked with them though
