Berenice Beaumont (born Berenice Russo)
F, born 1998
Her birth parents were from Italy, and moved to the French city of Strasbourg after the attack on their hometown of Naples. They unfortunately were in the area of Lyon during the 2003 Behemoth attack. Her birth mother died in the attack, and her father was left in critical condition, passing away in medical care soon after. The Russo's had no one listed as a guardian for their daughter in their will, having left behind what remained of their family and not made many close friends in their new home. So, at the age of 5, Berenice entered foster care.
In October 2004, on the annivversary of the Behemoth attack in Lyons, the public sector heroine [need a name] was participating in a public event dedicated to honouring the memory of the
- encounters mom at event of some kind (public idntity? hero work for charity?), befriends her
-gets adopted
-years alter, Berenice in her early teens, mom dies in combat with a villain
-the death was accidental, the villain was trying to wound, not kill
-the villain participates in an endbringer defense (2011 leviathan attack fits the time best)
-Berenice continued to live in France with her adoptive father for a number of years. When he moved to Quebec in 2015, she moved with him, finishing her schooling and starting post secondary education in Canada
-became soemthing of a cape geek, and became as disillusioned with the NA cape system as the french one
-adoptive father passed away from cancer (or a similar illness) in 2018
-after finishing inital schooling in 2019, having gotten a bachelor's in web design, returned to France, ostensibly seeking work in her homeland before furthering her education
-had received basic firearms training while in Quebec, enjoyed hunting with her adopted father (at least irl, quebec has something of a boar problem). in addition, participated in a number of self defense courses, learned some practical martial arts
-has totally not come to lyons to kill supervillains

-based off of the gm suggestion that the twins can be prexisting characters, I do agree Marchande de Glace and Marchand de Sable seem like the best choice, playing on their similar names. they both have powers involving changing the sate of elemental stuff (liquid to solid, solid to liquid, water and stone), so the moms power would probably work at least partly along those lines, or something?
