  1. Ensuring that Mika was following closely beside him, he would refrain from needlessly attaching chains to her person. She was more than behaved enough for her to be entrusted to wander about on her own accord! At least, to the point in which she remained near Dawn, or within. His apathetic gaze drifts downward as he studies the Ookami, only to hold the door open as he gestures for her to make her way inside. Perhaps she's been here, but she would quickly come to learn that this was the School of Necromancy and Riftmancy. Where the greatest and not so-great minds of Dawn individuals gathered to learn forbidden arts.
  2.
  3. It bothers him to a degree that such horrible arts were almost diminished by the casual practices utilized by less than prominent magi..but that was something that merely had to be put up with! To be tolerated, though looked upon with a distasteful gaze. As they make their way into the school itself, Hatsu motions toward some of the many bodies scattered aboutalong the tables. With the recent war of attrition made against the farmers and rebellious individuals, there was no shortage of practice material here.
  4.
  5. "What I'll be instructing you upon, or rather what you'll learn along the way is a bit of Necromancy. I'm in the process of mastering the foundations of its arts, and I'll be making you my personal assistant on the matter. I won't tolerate mistakes, and I'll be sure to punish you thoroughly if you somehow interfere with my work. With that in mind, I'm giving you the choice in whether you wish to remain here while I do my work." He explains, only to stare down at the Ookami with an almost demeaning gaze.
  6.
  7. Did he feel she was inferior? She certainly behaved in a tamed manner, at the very least.
  8. (Hatsu Wvelven)
  9.
  10. Mika had a bit of skip as she followed behind Hatsu. She didn't know exactly where they were going since she's never had the time to take a bit of an expedition to this part of the settlement. Albeit, it was clear to her that this was most likely what he meant by assisting her in a different type of study. Mika felt slightly encouraged and only imagined what he could be teaching her. She decided to walk straight and tall to seem a bit more sophisticated seeing as they were in some sort of school, laboratory, or something similar to the two.
  11.
  12. Her eyes drifted and darted in all directions. The colorful room were eye candy for her. She gasped in awe at the sight indication that she hasn't seen something as such. Her head snapped in his direction as he began to speak towards her. But she couldn't help waver her attention to the amount of dead bodies that were scattered around the tables. Her nose twitched as the scent. "Necromancy? Is that safe to teach? Then again, that's like asking is it safe to study magic, continue."
  13.
  14. She nods and held back her temptation to poke the body with her finger. She only continued her speech afterwards. "Sure, I see no problem in staying. It's nice here anyways, hehe. Will this help me in being an adventurer?"
  15. (Mika)
  16.
  17. Hatsu had acquired a body that wasn't in the most optimal of conditions, though this was likely due to the intentions he had for this particular session. Thus far, he's experienced what it was like to have a pristine setting, one where he could appropriately work under optimal conditions. He felt oddly inspired by the carnage that took place earlier, and he felt it imperative to utilize this time to continue perfecting his craft. With a surplus of the dead now in store for Dawn, he would utilize his ample amounts of research material to his hearts content.
  18.
  19. That wasn't to say that most of these bodies were quite mangled, however. This one in particular belonged to the likeness of an ordinary farmer, an individual that'd be considered a peasant in most cities. His face was mutilated to a disturbing degree, and several cannon-ball sized holes traveled along his right leg and toward his chest region. It was safe to say he was pierced clean through by magical assailants, or had the misfortune of friendly-fire.
  20.
  21. "Place some gloves on, for me. I want you to inspect the body itself, and tell me the present organs. When utilizing Necromancy, you wish to focus upon four main portions of the body to ensure that the undead you bring forth is 'whole'. Those parts are the brain, heart, spine, an-" He trails off momentarily, squinting at the body as he works his way around the table.
  22.
  23. This one struck him as vaguely familiar, but everything had been such a blur during combat. Despite this, he had been thrown off track by the fact that the familiarity was there. Perhaps momentarily haunted, Hatsu struggles to shake off the odd sensation of guilt that prods at the back of his mind.
  24.
  25. "...As I was saying, you'd want to inspect a body for these specific body parts. If they're missing any, as this one is, you'd acquire a mere mindless undead. Weak fodder to be utilized to raze villages, and the like. Perhaps this would allow you to understand the undead to a degree, if you're unfortunate enough to fight any." He offers.
  26.
  27. If she did inspect it, she'd find that all but the brain was truly missing, and that this would indeed be a 'dud' experiment. And yet, he purposely took the time to prepare this all the same.
  28. (Hatsu Wvelven)

  31.
  32. It was truly a sight to behold. Not something Mika usually sees on a daily basis. A mangled body destroyed to the point that it is almost unrecognizable. The flesh ripped with slight hints of mana which hints the cause of the death. Mika didn't seem too comfortable but she didn't let a few weird looking bodies bother her. If she wanted to get to learning she was going to have to suck any nervous feelings she had and give in. She believed that she'd get used to it anyways, that's how it felt being away from her true home. She's gotten used to not being there so it didn't bother her. But to get to the point she gave the four organs note which was only one of them but she could guess what the other parts were from basic memory. A brain, heart, spine, and... wait he never said the fourth organ! she squeals in her head. She'd get the first three since that was made clear.
  33.
  34. She grabs a pair of gloves where they were apparent and slid them on with a slap on the wrist. Her ears and tail straighten and stay still from the intensity she was feeling. Her focus directed at the body as her hands slowly dove into the body itself. Slightly squeezing the frame of the cranium if it was there that is. The brain seemed to have made the check on the attendance sheet, she couldn't say the same for the rest of the organs. It seemed the heart and spine were missing completely and she couldn't figure out what the fourth one was so she first assumed it was the lung of all things. But despite seeing the heart and spine completely gone, she could infer that the whole chest section and beyond were practically unrecognizable and missing a couple of parts. She holds the gloves above the table and snapped her attention towards Hatsu to report her findings. She compared this to how she did her findings when she explored.
  35.
  36. "Thebrain is still there but the heart, spine and fourth unknown aren't! This isn't a whole so it must be an undead, right?"
  37. (Mika)
  38.
  39. "Incorrect, little Ookami. This is an absolute corpse, but it would be an undead regardless of how many body parts. I'll reiterate it just this once, so ensure you remember this time. These corpses will always serve to be undead if you apply the effort to create one. According to my studies, the body parts are impertinent to the 'quality' of the corpse itself. What makes the difference in these undead are the composition of their body parts, and how they're formed. Depending on whether its a pristine body or a mangled mess like this one, it's going to result in a mindless zombie...or something like a sentient being that is treated with equal rights here in Dawn. They're capable of thinking for themselves, though their souls are tethered to cold bodies that brim with rot and depravity."
  40.
  41. His gloves are removed in favor of making the preparations for the actual process. First and foreost,he would complete a cursory glance along the corpse, intent upon performing the necessary ritual to bringing forth the undead. His right hand is slipped free of its glove, only to extend itself above the corpse. He would not go step-by-step with Mika as he made these preparations, though if she asked questions after this point, he would be happy to educate her.
  42.
  43. Within the midst of the unknown and when he was applying his knowledge was when Hatsu shone the most. The typically grumpy man appeared to be passionate as his eyes drift downward, a gentle smile forming. It was then that his other hand would plant itself upon the table, roughly at the waist level of the corpse. Runic symbols begin to erupt beneath the corpse, forming a proper spell circle that would circulate around the body and encompass it with crackling energies. It illuminates his features with a pulsating cyan glow, leaving the room brightly lit. Alternating between several energies at the same time was always taxing, but he's come to become proficient at multi-tasking.
  44.
  45. He speaks at last, though its clear that his concentration laid with the body. "What I am doing is coordinating several different formulas to create the 'solution' of bringing forth an undead. It requires a ton of concentration, so I'll explain once I'm done. I'm preparing to rip a soul down from the cosmos, and tether it to this unfortunate body, however."
  46.
  47. This would give her a brief opportunity to react, or perhaps take notes!
  48.
  49. (Hatsu Wvelven)
  50.
  51. Surely, Mika assumed none of this was easy and she'd most likely be in her forties by the time she even got the basics down but there was always chance and magic always seemed to suddenly do things that are unexpectant. She just hoped she didn't get hurt in the process. There were a lot of words that she'd need to 'copy and paste' into her memory. Albeit, it was going to be hard since more of it was just spat at her, but she prevailed. "Right, absolute corpse.. I've got many questions."
  52.
  53. She watched as Hatsu began his demonstration. Her eyes stared directly and didn't blink. Not until that bright light began to flash and light up the room making the already lit room seem dim in comparison. She quickly looked around for a pen and notepad and began to write down her observations as quick as possible. Pictures were drawn with annotations giving small summaries of each. "That symbol goes around the body like so.. It's so bright, I can barely write down a good description on how it looks, t'ch," she murmured, flickering her eyes between her notes and the work of art.
  54.
  55. Mika, as she said earlier would ask questions but that was after he was done. She waited and waited. Once that time came, her mouth opened wide as she began spurt out questions. "What if the caster loses control of the... undead? Isn't this a bit unsafe for the caster?"
  56. (Mika)
  57.
  58. "That's a curious question, but I've yet to experience that sort of situation. You see, when trying to create an undead, it's come to my attention that you either succeed in resurrecting said corpse into an undead, or the experiment fails outright. Flowing mana into the corpse comes first, followed by creating a stable source of excess energy beneath the corpse in question. If you pour too little into the corpse, it'll fizzle out the connection of mana circulating throughout its body. Too much, and similar results, albeit messier. Arthur Rowan commands legions of undead, and yet oyu never hear of any of them going awry. Perhaps they lack the balls to do so, or they simply can not. Command is absolute when you create your own, I like to believe."
  59.
  60. It's during this process that he was actively pulling upon the souls that were nestled within the void. An orientation of cosmic energies ensured that this last bit of the complicated puzzle was never too difficult, but the entirety of the process was always a difficult one for him. Despite having an excess of knowledge in terms of Necromancy, he still required practical application and plenty of test runs. In this instance, the corpse itself would begin to twitch on occasion, as he forcibly rips a soul from the cosmos itself in order to fuel this particular undead. An act of blasphemy to be sure, but the callous expression on his face makes it clear that he had little time for moral dilemmas. Once the soul was tethered properly to the body, he'd speak out, while conducting the very same actions he informs Mika of.
  61.
  62. "Once a connection of your mana, the circle, and the corpse are established, the difficult part for most is to pull a soul from the stars and cosmos themselves and tether it to the body. Think of it as caging a pet, to ensure it can not escape. Similar to how I'vefastened that collar around your neck, really. Regardless, once all three of these things are accomplished, you break the circle of mana and allow it to surge into the corpse."
  63.
  64. It was in this moment that the circle would erupt in even greater intensity, briefly blinding those within the room as the excess of darkening mana surged within the corpse. The runic symbols are broken apart, crackling electricity circulating along the table and scorching small portions of it. Despite this, the lightning appears to be somewhat controlled, never striking the caster nor the observer who could not defend herself in most cases. With that said and done, gentle wisps of steam would rise from the corpse itself, its skin appearing horrifically charred.
  65.
  66. "........It appears in this case, I've overloaded said circle and fried out subject. Failure is always expected down the line, but this is unforeseen. I'll have to acquire a few more lessens to ensure this doesn't happen, again. Hopefully, you get the gist of it though, yes?" He inquires, wiping a bit of sweat from his brow as he motions to go wash his hands clean of this mess. The body would be disposed of, as the stench of burnt flesh permeates the room.
  67.
  68. He would proceed to head out once he had cleaned up, expecting her to stay close. "Yes, yes. You probably have questions. Let's discuss them outside."
  69. (Hatsu Wvelven)
