  8. An empty stretch of road with a lone police cruiser across
  9. the street from a convenience store.

  12. INT. POLICE CRUISER - NIGHT
  13.  
  14. DEPUTY DAVID PARKS, (25) sits there in cruiser and stares at
  15. the passing vehicles.
  16.  
  17. DEPUTY LANCE HAWKINS, (21) clocks traffic with a radar gun.
  18.  
  19. HAWKINS
  20. So you were military?
  21.  
  22. David glances over at the radar gun.
  23.  
  24. PARKS
  25. Still am.
  26.  
  27. HAWKINS
  28. That's really cool! You know I was
  29. gonna join, but then they wouldn't
  30. take me because-
  31.  
  32. PARKS
  33. You gave 'em a reason not to.
  34.  
  35. Parks takes out his phone, checks it, then puts it back in
  36. his pocket.

  38. HAWKINS
  39. (voice trails off)
  40. ...Of a surgery when I was nine.

  42. David continues to watch cars pass.
  43.  
  44. He massages his eyes as Hawkins continues to take radar.
  45.  
  46. HAWKINS (CONT’D)
  47. Pretty quiet today, huh?
  48.  
  49. Parks slowly moves his head and glares at Hawkins.
  50.  
  51. PARKS
  52. I'm gonna make you eat those
  53. fucking words, boot.
  54.  
  55. A car screams past the two-
  56.  
  57. HAWKINS
  58. Holy shit! Did you see that?!
  59.  
  60. Parks picks up the car's radio.
  61.  
  62. PARKS
  63. You called it, not me. Light 'em
  64. up.
  65.  
  66. Hawkins floors the accelerator and speeds up behind the other
  67. car.
  68.  
  69. Hawkins turns on the siren and Parks grabs the radio.
  70.  
  71. The siren blares as the car begins to pull over.
  72.  
  73. PARKS (CONT’D)
  74. 1315, dispatch, be advised
  75. performing TC on reckless driver-
  76. Highway 10, past Marker 13.

  78. DISPATCH
  79. (over radio)
  80. 10-4.

  89. EXT. DESERT HIGHWAY - NIGHT

  91. The two approach.
  92.  
  93. Hawkins crosses toward the passenger's side.
  94.  
  95. Parks crosses toward the driver's.
  96.  
  97. The passenger's side door opens before they can even reach
  98. the car.
  99.  
  100. A man bursts out of the car and runs toward Hawkins.
  101.  
  102. MAN
  103. He's got a gun to my head!
  104.  
  105. Parks draws his weapon.
  106.  
  107. Two gunshots ring out by the time Hawkins gets his as the man
  108. in front of him drops dead.
  109.  
  110. Hawkins starts to fire into the car in front of him as two
  111. muzzle flashes come out.
  112.  
  113. Hawkins drops.
  114.  
  115. Parks fires into the driver's side door and is met with
  116. multiple muzzle flashes.
  117.  
  118. One round goes through the side of his neck.
  119.  
  120. Parks drops his gun, falls, and tries to control the bleeding
  121. with the hand he dropped the gun with.
  122.  
  123.  
  124. PARKS'S POV
  125.  
  126. Two figures step out of the car. One walks over to Hawkins.
  127.  
  128. A second gunshot.
  129.  
  130. Parks continues to bleed.
  131.  
  132. He looks up at the barrel of a gun and closes his eyes.
  133.  
  134. FADE TO BLACK.
