  68. him hits. His hands shake. He balls up his hands, then
  69. reaches into his pocket to unlock the door.

  74. Kayla sleeps on Ellis's couch.

  76. Ellis forces a smile on his face as he walks in.

  97. He throws it into the trash after finishing it and goes to
  98. bed.

  100. Ellis lays down and closes his eyes.

  103. EXT. HOUSE - DAY

  105. A nice 1950s suburban neighborhood sits there. The world is
  106. black and white. Ellis drives up in a new model Ford Mustang.

  108. A woman stands there. She's a complete shadow, with no
  109. discerable features.

  111. IND WOMAN
  112. Ellis!

  114. Ellis smiles and gets out of his car.

  116. ELLIS
  117. Hi there sweetheart.

  119. A child runs out of the house and hugs Ellis. The child also
  120. has a shadowy look to him, with no real features to him.

  123. Dad, you're home!

  125. A german shepherd runs out of the apartment and runs around
  126. them. It barks in happiness. Ellis holds all of them.

  128. The woman leans into Ellis's ear.

  131. You're a fucking failure, Ellis.
  132. All your friend's have successful
  133. relationships and here you are
  134. chasing tail.

  136. IND CHILD
  137. You're a fucking failure, look at
  138. yourself! All your friends are in
  139. the military or college and you've
  140. managed to get a shitty security
  141. job. And you live alone with a
  142. freeloading tranny that hasn't paid
  143. rent in what- Five months?

  146. INT. ELLIS'S APARTMENT - DAY

  148. Ellis wakes up screaming.
  149.  
  150. Ellis checks the time on his phone. He sighs.

  153. Time to deal with the real world

  156. Ellis looks into the mirror.

  158. He walks into the bedroom and takes out his Glock 17. Ellis
  159. puts it to his skull. His face becomes covered in different
  160. words:

  164. "What are you?"

  166. "Worthless piece of shit."

  168. "Unloveable."
  169.  
  170. "Shitty human being."

  172. His finger slides on the trigger-

  174. Ellis's phone rings.

  176. Ellis puts his Glock on the bathroom counter and checks it.

  178. He checks the contact.
  179.  
  180. "Kobel".

  182. ELLIS (CONT’D)
  183. Ah, fuck.

  185. Ellis picks the phone up.

  187. ELLIS (CONT’D)
  188. Yeah?

  190. KOBEL
  191. Ellis?
  192. (holding back laughter)
  193. I need you in my office when you
  194. get here.

  197. What's up?

  199. KOBEL
  200. I'll brief you on site.

  205. Ellis hangs up the phone.

  207. He looks at the gun on the table and sighs.

  212. Ellis sighs and gets himself ready for work.

  215. INT. KOBEL'S OFFICE - NIGHT

  217. Ellis comes into Kobel's office. Kobel gives a stoic look.

  220. Shut the door, Ellis.

  222. Ellis closes the door behind him.

  224. KOBEL (CONT’D)
  225. Take a seat, Parsons.

  227. Ellis's eyes widen.

  229. ELLIS (V.O.)
  230. What the fuck did I do? Oh fuck,
  231. what did I do?! FUCK!

  233. Ellis takes a seat.

  235. The two sit there in silence.

  238. So... Heard about your little
  239. adventure in Payson.

  244. Kobel starts to laugh at this.

  250. Ellis opens his mouth to say something, but closes it.

  257. hilarious. I mean, dipshit had it
  258. coming.

  261. Yes sir. Am I in trouble?

  263. Kobel takes a deep breath.

  265. KOBEL
  266. Officially, I'm supposed to tell
  267. you not to encourage workplace
  268. violence. Officially, you are
  269. absolutely in trouble for this and
  270. officially...

  272. Kobel looks around.

  274. KOBEL (CONT’D)
  275. Officially, you're supposed to be
  276. begging me for your job back, and
  277. that you're supposed to have your
  278. last paycheck.

  284. Consider this a promotion, I know
  285. you don't like dealing with the
  286. other guards anyway. How does a
  287. Monday to Thursday schedule sound?

  303. Ellis's car pulls up to a water treatment plant.

  305. He steps out of it and looks at the desert around him.
