  1. Welcome back to the RuneScape Wiki newsletter. Its been a while, but we didn't forget about them.
  2.
  3. [Newsletters information and archive](http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/User:Gaz_Lloyd/Newsletter)
  4.
  5. ##RuneFest
  6. RuneFest is this weekend and we'll be there! Myself and several other editors will be giving out [sweet badges](http://i.imgur.com/Dxat5nV.jpg) all day, so come say hi and claim one. (We'll be in RuneScape Wiki t-shirts, so we should be fairly obvious.)
  7.
  8. ##Survey
  9. Two months ago we [posted a survey](https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/4sd4bu/survey_help_shape_the_future_of_the_runescape_wiki/) here and asked for your input on improving the wiki in the future. It was mentioned in the subreddit before, but [here's the results and discussion of them](http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Forum:2016_survey_results).
  10.
  11. Following this, we have two points of feedback being actively worked on:
  12.
  13. 1. The [dark mode toggle](https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/4xo6a9/in_response_to_your_survey_feedback_heres_a_sneak/) is still WIP - a temporary beta version is available, but we're looking in to a way to make it more easily maintainable. Hopefully we'll have more on it soon.
  14. 2. The "quick issue form" mentioned in one of the questions is now [in discussion](http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Forum:Quick_issue_form) (where we're deciding exactly how it should work)
  15.
  16. There should be more progress on these soon, expect posts about them when they're live.
  17.
  18. ##Invention
  19. It wouldn't be a RSW newsletter without some mention of Invention. There's only three things to talk about this time:
  20.
  21. We're still looking for more data on faceted and clockwork components - both what gives them (that we don't already know), and mass data on disassembling things that give them - [this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/51bj2r/help_the_runescape_wiki_get_data_for_faceted_and/) has more details.
  22.
  23. Speaking of mass data, the [disassembly data project](https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/4h5f7h/rsw_wants_your_disassembly_data/) is still ongoing, so please continue submitting data. While we do accept everything, we're shifting toward more special material sources (other than faceted and clockwork sources, of course). Items that either *sometimes* give a special materials, or give one of several special materials - like barrows armour, crystal items, godsword hilts, GWD2 essences and crests, and so on - are the primary thing we need data on now. See [here](http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/User:Gaz_Lloyd/Disassembly) for full details on what to do and categories that still need data.
  24.
  25. The reason we're shifting toward the special material data is because most categories have enough data to [display the chances](http://i.imgur.com/7sU4E5e.png) in the disassembly template. It even works with [special materials](http://i.imgur.com/UcUP2Kz.png), including either/or ones [like mjolnirs](http://i.imgur.com/lUmDCAr.png). This also means that most [calculators](http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Calculator:Disassembly_by_material/Direct) are essentially complete.
  26.
  27. ##Recent Changes
  28. * The [main page](http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/RuneScape_Wiki) has been updated with a new layout
  29. * The Grand Exchange Market Watch 'change' arrows have [been updated to a simpler design](http://i.imgur.com/Lxke0JG.png), reminiscent of actual stock market trackers
  30. * The 'top icons' that link to the RSC and OSRS wikis have been moved up to next to the page counter and standardised, and Wikipedia has been added - [example](http://i.imgur.com/excXS6O.png)
  31.
  32. ##Coming soon
  33. * As mentioned above, dark mode toggle and quick issue form are in development
  34. * A simpler, image-based editing guide is in the works
  35.
  36.
  37. ##Things you can help with!
  38. Here's a few things that we need help with:
  39.
  40. * I'm planning to add a new section to perk pages to give more direct advice on how to get that perk at a high rank or in a good combination - [example](http://i.imgur.com/RkRZdfS.png). If you have any suggestions, please let me know - links to threads/images/etc about this are also good.
  41. * Another thing mentioned in the survey responses was ironman support - or rather, our lack of it. I'm looking for things we can do to improve this - tips for ironmen that can become a sort-of guide (e.g. *temple trekking is a great source of silver bars for crafting training*), additions to pages/calculators for ironmen, etc.
  42. * There's still almost 1,000 items for which we don't know disassembly status - if they can be or not, and if so, what they can give. If you happen to have any of them and access to Invention, a simple Analyse cast (plus knowing your junk reduction) is enough to give us the basic info needed.
  43.
  44. In all cases, you can either edit it in yourself, or if you're not sure, leave information in a comment, PM, or via any social media to me
  45.
  46. ##Did you know
  47. * The RuneScape Wiki has a number of [off-site places](http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/RuneScape:OS) you can interact with us: [in-game clan chat](http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/RuneScape:Off-site/Clan_Chat), [Discord](http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/RuneScape:Off-site/Discord), [Twitter](http://twitter.com/rswiki), [Facebook](http://www.facebook.com/runescapewiki), and even [IRC](http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/RuneScape:Off-site/IRC). We also have an [on-site chat](http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/RuneScape:Chat) (which requires an account). Come say hi!
  48. * Sometimes things like templates can get out of sync - particularly noticeable with prices. If the price has been updated but a calculation using it has not, you can force the update by making the server rebuild the page; this is called *purging the server cache*. The easiest way to purge is to [click the UTC clock in the top-right of every page](http://i.imgur.com/855Nnbo.png). (You could also add `?action=purge` to the URL.) (If you aren't logged-in to an account, you get a confirmation message to purge, just click ok.)
  49. * A lot of the wiki's backend templates are being converted from wikitext to the slightly more well-known scripting language lua. If you already know lua, its not that hard to jump in to editing the backend stuff. If you don't know lua, it isn't that hard to learn, especially if you have other programming knowledge already.
