  1. Rene thought it was about time to stop hiding in Nostvale from Reckorius and face his problems head on if he had to cross that bridge. He went to his nearest knowledge spot and looked through some books. He found a runewriting book that consisted of many rune symbols, taking it with him as he also took a blacksmith book with him. Headed into the desert, Rene took some fire making materials with him, such as wood, what else?
  2.
  3. He found a good hot spot in the desert and began making his fire, taking a few broadswords he had and detaching them from their handles. He let the blades sit in the fire a few hours until they were almost completely red. He had just realized he couldn't shape red hotness with his fingers, pulling out a small hammer and using an extra broadsword blade to smooth his materials out.
  4.
  5. "Hmm, Kyrian requested a leg first, so I'll make his first." He said out loud to himself, beginning to meld blades together to make three parts. one looked like a mimic metal part of a foot with a ball at the ankle. One was another part to look like a shin, fitted with two ball sockets, one for the ankle and one for the upper leg, whatever that was called. He shadow sparred for a few hours while the parts cooled down, after knocking over a rock with a flat surface to cool them on, so the desert sand did not melt to them, days of work being put in on the parts since Rene didn't exactly know what he was doing, but he wouldn't rest until it was completed since he couldn't find the blackssmith and his runewriting wife.
  6.
  7. After they were cooled down, Rene began reading through the runewriting book to see what was to be etched in so Kyrian could move it around. He popped the balls and sockets together so the leg would be whole and began speedreading through the book.
  8.
  9.
  10. (Rene)
  11. It's been about time for Kyrian to stop mourning. Camina was gone. She was the last thing that held the memories of Cyano. But now. The two of them were gone. Darjeeling was alone. So he would have to make sure that nothing happened to her. If that were to happen. He wouldn't be able to forgive himself.
  12.
  13. So it was about time for him to leave the safety of Wychwood. He needed to go down south and find out where Vali was. She might still be mad at him. But he didn't care about that. So far, he needed to grab his barings. He needed to get stronger, and Vali might just be that person that he needed to help him out with that.
  14.
  15. Plus. He had a few things to say to Arigolz.
  16.
  17. Kyrian would smile as he thought about what he was going to do to that poor soul. But it wasn't what his main goal was so far. He needed to find Vali. So as he traveled south. He started to think of places where a mercenary would be. Frostvale would be to chilly for Vali, he also hadn't seen her in Danarium, so maybe Nostvale.
  18.
  19. But that was the one place that Kyrian had hated the most. But, he needed to find her.
  20.
  21. But he would find someone else on his way to Nostvale. Rene.
  22.
  23. Walking across the desert, it would seem that Rene was already at work. At first it would seem that he was making some type of sword due to the hilts now on the ground. But as he got closer. He had seen that it was not a weapon. Instead it was at leg. A metal leg in the making. As long with soem rune writings all over the place which Rene was currently reading.
  24.
  25. "Wow, it's been a while Rene. To know that you are actually making my leg is making me appreciate that I didn't kill you that day. " Kyrian would say with a friendly smile and laugh at the end
  26. (Kyrian Hayes)
  27. Rene had read through the book until he found a mana conduction rune of sorts. He was about to etch into the leg, but a familiar face had popped in. It had been just who he had been making the leg for, Kyrian. Kyrian seemed a lot friendlier than usual, a rather good sign for Rene, perhaps he could actually get on friendly terms with Kyrian now, although it had already seemed that way.
  28.
  29. As Kyrian mentioned not killing Rene that day, Rene smiled a bit nervously, the smile then growing more friendly as Kyrian seemed to laugh it off. "Yeah, I'm glad you didn't kill me too... Heheh... But yes, I'm working on your leg now, but i guess I can pause for a moment to say something. I'm kind of glad you beat me up pretty bad that day and spared me. During the time i was recovering, It actually gave me quite a bit to think about. To be honest, I was thinking about ways to get stronger and avenge my humiliation at first..."
  30.
  31. "But i thought about what you said, how you got the injury and stuff. Although you seemed mean at first, I can see now that you do what you do for a reason, you're awfully nice to the little pups and all, so I see you have the next generation's best interest in mind, and I admire that, but hold on a moment." Rene looked at the book and pulled out a sharp nail, looking as if it had been used to build the foundation of a house, so a strong nail to say the least. Rene began etching into each individual part of the leg, copying the mana conduction rune out of the book.
  32.
  33. As he would finish, having each part with a spearate rune in it, he began drawing strict lines from rune to rune, just enough to communicate with one another. He then put the leg to the ground and put a hand on it. Mana bursted from his hands as the runes glowed to life, giving off blue particles of mana at first, then staying glowing a fiant blue. Rene punped some of his mana through the leg as it seemed to move around a bit, Rene made sure not to put too much in to make the leg break or something.
  34.
  35. Rene then metlted down the extra sword, making thin plating to go over the runes of the leg, although it could be used now, one little scratch out of a rune and the design could be flawed. While he awaited the plating to cool, he turned back to Kyrian. "Hey Kyrian... Overall, I just wanted to say sorry for being tough with you the first time we met."
  36. (Rene)
  37. Leaning against his wooden cane he used to walked around, Kyrian would smile and take in everything that Rene would say. He tried his best not to be as feral as he usually is. Mostly because he now knew that he needed allies to become stronger. He needed support.
  38.
  39. After all, a building won't stand without supports. If a building didn't have supports. It would collapse. Fast and harshly. Which he didn't have in mind for himself.
  40.
  41. Giving off simple remarks towards each time Rene had stopped to wait for a respond. Kyrian would reply with a simple response. Such like 'Uh-huh, yeah, or okay'.
  42.
  43. If Rene couldn't tell. Kyrian wasn't the best with long an meaningful conversations. He never really had one except for the time that he was with Nef. Other than that. Nothing, and that encounter went so-so for him.
  44.
  45. "Don't worry about that Rene. We're friends now right?!" he say kindly towards Rene after he apologized for being so tough to him.
  46.
  47. But Kyrian had needed to start making friends. Or else he would be on his own, and as shown currently. He wouldn't be any good without people to rely on.
  48.
  49. "So. . . How long is it going to take if you don't mind me asking?" he said curiously
  50. (Kyrian Hayes)
  51. Rene would look over to the plating every now and again as it still seemed to be cooling, but the leg also took a while to cool, so he wasn't very surprised. As Kyrian had given some simple remarks to Rene's long and meaningful dialogue, Rene could kind of tell this guy needed friends as it was. As Kyrian seemed to forgive Rene for his harshness toward him, asking if they were friends, Rene seemed a bit suspecting at first, but then gave off a big cheesy smile.
  52.
  53. "Yeah, we are friends now, we can put the past behind us!" Rene added, "Also, the leg should actually be done like, soon. Very soon. I should definately stick around and not die to keep up maintenance on the thing." Rene smiled sarcastically and looked over to the water not too long to the west of them. "Actually, I can make this process go somewhat quicker, I'll be right back" Rene grabbed the metal plating with his metal gauntlets on, dashing to the water before the hot metal melted through his gauntlets.
  54.
  55. Rene jumped over the desert wall, landing on a rock right near the water as he dipped the metal plating in the water along with his gauntlets, since they were getting really hot also. As the metals were now cooled, Rene dashed as fast as he could back to Kyrian, taking the metal plating and attempting to fit it into the metal leg. The plating seemed to click right into their co-respondant parts, covering up the runes so the design couldn't be damaged easily.
  56.
  57. "Welp, now the leg is done, however, I need to make a framing that will fit into your leg so the metal leg is attachable, and i have to do a surgical procedure to fit the parts into your leg, I warn you now though, it will probably be pretty painful, so when you're ready, I'm ready, we'll probably go into the abandoned infirmary of danarium so i can use the supplies there."
  58. (Rene)
  59. Kyrian would smile as Rene had told him that the two were now friends. On the other hand. It would seem that his leg would be done in only a matter of time. In fact, Rene had a plan to make it even quicker.
  60.
  61. Which made Kyrian soon think of the thought of having the use of his missing limb! It would be amazing if that were to happen! Imagine the damage of what he could do if he did! In matter of fact, how agile he would be then.
  62.
  63. The mere thought of him getting his use of his missing leg back made his mind travel. It wouldn't be long until Rene would make a quick joke which would cause Kyrian to smirk. Only later he would watch Rene grab a metal plate before dashing off into the distance. Which gave Kyrian room to daydream about the use of his new robotic limb.
  64.
  65. But it was cut short as Rene came back as soon as he left. Or it had seemed so to him.
  66.
  67. "Pain isn't something that I'm fond of. But It's better to get it over with now than never. So lead the way mechanic" he said as he turned towards Danarium to prepare himself to start the march.
  68.
  69. "Don't make it more painful than usual or else I'll start to think that your trying to get pay back on me. " he would say when the two would begin to cross over towards Danarium's infirmary
  70. (Kyrian Hayes)
  71. As Kyrian mentioned pain, Rene began to think of the old days before he had gotten powerful as he was. That was a painful thought for him, he had been really weak, preying on those even weaker than him. Rene smiled as Kyrian mentioned not to make it more painful than usual, "Nah, I wouldn't do that, that would probably make our friendship short lived." Rene remarked as they began making their way off to Danarium.
  72.
  73. As they arrived to the town shortly after, Rene looked around town, still seeming to be a ghost town. He retched when he thought of what he had done in front of Reckorius, but kept the feeling of sickness down. He had to shrug it off for now as they entered the medical facilities, Rene already rummaging through where they would keep their supplies. Rene found very little but it should have been enough.
  74.
  75. Rene scattered a scalpel, a metal frame that looked big enough to fit around Kyrian's leg, and a few numbing regents. He wheeled a small metal table over next to a cushioned operating table. Cleaning off the operation table in case of any desterilized qualities, he then turned to Kyrian "Well, It should be less painful than I Previously thought, there seems to be a few numbing regents left from the town's abandonment, and it seems i have all of the correct stuff for it, so just lay on the table when you're ready, and I'd prefer you leave your weapon in the other corner of the room, in case those instincts kick in if you feel pain."
  76.
  77. He bowed formally, motioning over to the operation table.
  78. (Rene)
  79. It would be quite the walk before Rene and Kyrian had reached Danarium. It seemed alot less lively since the war but Rene didn't stop the two from entering as he retorted off a remark. Which caused Kyrian to grin. After that, it wouldn't take long for the two of them to reach an facility.
  80.
  81. It would only be time for Rene to search around and find the tools that he needed for the operation. In the mean time. He just hoped that Rene had knew what he was doing. If not, it would be quite trouble some. He just hoped that he wouldn't end up with some serious infection afterwards. Or having the operation to go badly. Or if the went painfully and he still couldn't be able to use his limb functionally.
  82.
  83. As Kyrian's thoughts would soon be clouded up in his head. Kyrian would be soon beckoned towards the operatoin table. Which had freaked him out in way. It semed a bit to unreal at first. But it was happening. So he had thought that he might aswell get over with it.
  84.
  85. But first, he'd listen to what Rene said. Cause if the operation was painful, Kyrian might just decaptiate Rene without a second thought. It wouldn't be longer for him to take his axe off from his back and placed it in the corner. It would only be seconds later for Kyrian to be hopping back towards the operation table to soon lay himself ontop of it.
  86.
  87. Looking towards the ceiling. Kyrian would say " Don't worry about cutting the leg of the pants to attach the leg. It's all good. Other than that. . . I'm ready" he said in monotone
  88. (Kyrian Hayes)
  89. Rene sighed, hoping Kyrian would trust him, as he could barely trust himself. Although Kyrian seemed a bit nervous at first, the feeling would be shared between him and Rene. As Kyrian hopped up on the table after placing his weapon in the corner, Rene seemed somewhat relieved and fastened Kyrian's midsection to the table so he couldn't move the stub left of his leg he had too much. Rene then looked at the metal object he could use for framing around the metal leg.
  90.
  91. Rene looked at the notches on the metal framin and mimiced them to slot in on the metal leg, cutting the notches into the metal leg. As Kyrian seemed to be looking toward the cieling, Rene sighed, 'Good, I hope he can keep this look fixed to the cieling' Rene thought to himself as he began to explain a bit. "I have to lock down your midsection so it's easier for the procedure. I'm going to start it now." Rene took one of the numbing regents and read its labels, consulting a small book, containing the effects of the regents.
  92.
  93. "Okay, so the regent will make you feel tingly instead of pain since I have to do a bit of cutting and stuff. When I'm in the process, you can look down if you'd like, but I wouldn't reccomend it. There's usually a sort of "fake pain" effect if you see what's happening." Rene then injected the regent into Kyrian's leg. Rene then tried to smile, the process seeming to gross him out a little just at the thought, but he imagined what it would be like throughout the procedure now so he could get the queasyness out of the way.
  94.
  95. Soon enough, Rene put a few cuts into the leg, deep enough to where the procedure could be done easily. He stayed focused as he began to fit the metal framing around the leg so the metal leg could be inserted. Fitting the frame where the cut had been exposed, Rene would warn Kyrian. "The numbing regent makes the flesh feel tingles... but this part will be excuciating, I warn you now to NOT LOOK." Rene then took a screwdriver and began helping screws into what was remaining of Kyrian's leg bone. The bone seemed dense enough where the screws went into without the bone being too damaged, other than the screws going in and making small holes, then staying there.
  96.
  97. Rene seemed to keep consulting a biology manual to identify parts of the body he had been messing with, although magnus had given him a lot of knowledge on this already, just not specific categories. As the framing had seemingly been done being installed, Rene would ease Kyrian if he had doubts. "The procedure went well, worry for any pain that you have been caused, all I need to do now is finish it up." Rene then went back to the easy part, sewing back up the cuts in Kyrian's leg as he put in a healing salve, allowing the cuts to heal faster and not lose anymore blood, as the cushions on the operating table were now stained with blood near Kyrian's soon-to-be new leg. As the salve seemed to harden and substitue for a scab or scar, Rene picked up the metal leg, looking closely at the design he made for it to fit in.
  98.
  99. Rene then began pushing the leg into the metal framing, the leg then clicking into the notches and fitting in well, being perfectly aligned with Kyrian's other leg. Rene then began scratching and etching more mana conduction lines into the metal framing that allowed the leg to be attached. "Alright... One more tingly sensation...." Rene stated as he cut a copy of the mana symbols that were on the separate parts of the metal leg into just above the metal framing into Kyrians leg, well what remained anyway. He cut some conduction lines down into the framing of the leg as the leg seemed to glow for a moment, proving a stable connection to Kyrian's mana. Although the leg glowed, It used none of Kyrian's mana, just putting his mana flow through the leg.
  100.
  101. Rene sealed the rest of the cuts that he had made with a few more stitches, then backing up as he smiled. "It seems I have done the procedure correctly, you can get up, now, but just be careful and don't push the leg too far yet, you're not completely healed from the procedure, but once you are, you should have full use to the leg without any reopened injuries."
  102. (Rene)
  103. Trying to keep as calm as possible as he stared up towards the ceiling. But it wouldn't take long for Rene to strap him down. Fastening each strap onto his body as he laid on the operation table, which just happened to cause his heart to race a bit. He had been through alot, but not once had he been through surgery.
  104.
  105. Suddenly, Kyrian would hear a couple of movements and shuffling. Aswell as some metal being picked up and being moved about. Then the sound of metal locking into the other. After that, it would be the sound of metal being sliced. "Hey Rene. You better know what your doing" he muttered as he continued to stare towards the ceiling. Which he was responded to right away as Rene told him that he has to lockdown his body so it would make the operation be smoother. It wouldn't be long before he had heard a book being picked up and pages being turned.
  106.
  107. Thats when Rene had decided to explain to Kyrian what was going to happen next. Which he didn't like the sound at all. It wouldn't be long for Kyrian to look down towards Rene to watch him inject a regent into his leg. Which caused him to wince as he gave a death defying look towards him, saying ' I swear if you mess up. I'll make sure that you'll have to make a leg for yourself'.
  108.
  109. As time now passed. Rene would start to cut away at the area where his missing limb is. This would cause Kyrian to wince and attempt to free himself from his restraints. But his attempts were futile as he was surely locked in place. Which just made him stiff as he forced himself to endure the pain.
  110.
  111. As Rene stopped the cutting through his skin, he felt the cold touch of metal touch his skin. Breezing him with chills all over. A heartbeat would go by before Rene would give Kyrian strict instructions of not to look or anything of the sort as the next part would cause alot of pain. Which automatically made his eyes lock down towards his missing limb. Which he would start to watch Rene screw the blots into his leg. Which immedantly sent chills throughout his body. Causing him to shiver immeansely and look up as towards the ceiling as he awaited for Rene to finish his job.
  112.
  113. In what seemed to be hours flying by. Rene would finally ease up off of him and explain that the operation had went well as he began to start sewing up any of his cuts on his legs and clean off the blood. When all of that work was done. He would feel as if his missing leg was back in place. Looking down, he would see Rene examining his leg. Which caused him to give him a curious look.
  114.
  115. But then Rene would push the leg into his the metal frame. Sending jolts of pain and cold shivers through his body. Then suddenly he heard the sound of notches being clicked and fitted. Rene would then begin to start to crave some kind of lines and marks into the metal frame.
  116.
  117. Alright... One more tingly sensation...."
  118.
  119. Kyrian would look down and stare hardly at him before he cursed silently to himself as Rene leaned in to work on his leg some more. Which he looked away so he didn't have to see what ever else the man was doing to him. Minutes would pass by as he felt Rene work away at the leg, and before long. Kyrian felt the possession of the metal leg. It was like his mana was now circulating through it now. As if it was actually apart of his body now. Which caused him to start attempting to move around his toes. Which was weird at first. But it felt amazing to get the feeling back into his system.
  120.
  121. Looking down at his leg, he saw mana burning brightly into his leg. Which made him grin. Rene did it.
  122.
  123. "You sucker! You did it! I can't believe it! " he exclaimed with excitement.
  124.
  125. It wouldn't be long for Rene to be done with the rest of the stitches and then give him a bit more instructions about his new leg. Which Kyrian ignored as he told Rene to unstrap him. In which he did.
  126.
  127. Suddenly, he was up and out of the table. Standing on both legs. Coming down on the floor hard as he stumbled forward. Cracking the floor beneath. Making him smile widely. It had seemed that he needed to get used to the leg. But still, he had to test it out for a nice run
  128.
  129. "Man I owe you one Rene! Later!" he said loudly before he dashed out of the room with excitement. He had to test this leg out now. But who would be ballsy enough to fight him now with his new leg!?
  130. (Kyrian Hayes)
