  1. Where have I been /what's going on? (C/W health issues)
  2.
  3. During the second week in June I started noticing dark urine. At the time the temperature had gone up a lot outside and I was playing a lot of In The Groove. I thought I was just dehydrated.
  4.
  5. The next Monday I had a very sharp pain in my abdominal area that I thought was cramping. It passed after a few hours. Wednesday I noticed yellowing in my eyes. Immediately I go to urgent care and they redirect me to my primary care.
  6.
  7. It's Friday now and I'm getting blood tests. These come back with high liver enzymes. I'm referred to a gastroenterologist to see one week later.
  8.
  9. My conditions are improving. The gastro still wants me to get a specialized scan called an mrcp which is an MRI with contrast to better see the bilary ducts.
  10.
  11. While waiting for the scan I have another attack of pain early in the morning just before July 4th. I go to the hospital. I'm given Tylenol and tordol and after a while the pain subsides. 12 hours later I have another attack. I rush to the same hospital and getting seen takes much longer. This time the doctor is aggressive. It feels like he is trying to get me to admit to trying to score pain meds. I'm not. My gastro said any pain go right to the hospital. This new doctor gives me Zofran, IV Benadryl, Haldol and Tordol.
  12.
  13. The Haldol, an anti psychotic, gives me a 12 hour long panic attack. At this point I cannot stay in that hospital. I ask for voluntary discharge and once again the doctor accosts me. I leave and the pain subsides once I am able to sleep.
  14.
  15. Fast forward to the MRCP the next Monday. A small gallstone is found in my bile duct causing a blockage. It is recommended I have an ERCP to remove it. This is an endoscopy where they remove stones. This is sweet for July 12th. During this wait the jaundice has gotten bad. I'm losing weight, can't sleep because I'm too itchy, and having hard times with food.
  16.
  17. I fast the night before the procedure and go in the next day. I'm told about the procedure and how I'll be intubated. They start putting me to sleep. I wake up 20 minutes later and am told they couldn't intubate me cuz I have a difficult airway. There was also some bleeding from my gums and that I should see a dentist. I want to cry here. While in the recovery room I'm told I could potentially try again on Tuesday. I immediately seek emergency dental help and am seen that evening. They prescribe a special mouth wash and I try calling my gastro office. No answer. I leave a message that I want the Tuesday appointment. The office is closed on the weekend.
  18.
  19. On Monday I am calling them every 30 minutes. No one answers the unique phone lines I was given and the general line for the office cannot get a hold of the doctor or his scheduling assistant as they are working out of an alternative location that day. Tuesday comes and I do not get on the schedule. I'm informed my doctor is about to go on 2 weeks vacation. I'm gutted. I just want to get better. The scheduler says I can get in on August 8 or 9. I tell them that is absurd and I need something sooner or I need a referral to someone else. I also ask for a quicker referral from scheduling for the other Gastro I saw who made the original recommendations.
  20.
  21. I am called back and told I can get seen on the 30th of july. I still ask for sooner referrals. This scheduling person never picks up her phone and I get progressively worse until the July 30th date. I can no longer get out of bed.
  22.
  23. On July 30th I go in and have the procedure without intubation. I am told that the stone was gone but they dredged out sludge and put in a stent to help with my bile and liver enzymes draining. The anaesthesia made me sleepy so I go home and try to nap it off. Around 9 PM I wake up with abdominal discomfort. I was told bloating is common after an ERCP so I tried to sleep through it. The pain keeps getting worse. I get up to pee and break out into a sweat despite no fever. On my way back to my bed I pass out. I do not hit my head but I can feel my ass throbbing.
  24.
  25. I decide it's hospital time again. I'm assisted to a different hospital this time and taken in quickly and put on pain meds. Some scans and blood work later I'm told I have Post ERCP pancreatitis. The solve here is multiple days in the hospital on fluids and pain killers. They perform another emergency ERCP, replacing the first mesh plastic stent with a metal one.
  26.
  27. So here I am now. I'm in the trauma unit while they figure out how to fix me. Figured I would write this to let people know where I've been.
