  1. - I’ve been to sectors 4, 13, 5, 67 and 20. Everything is right here!
  2. - I can see that, sir. And I keep telling you, it’s not your turn.
  3. - Why not! Heh, I’ve been here for 13 hours! You just have to stamp it!
  4. - And yet it’s not your turn, sir. Please sit down and wait until we call out your name!
  5. The greyish purple stallion gave up. He let out a sigh of acceptance.
  6. - How much time will it take?
  7. - Depends on the line you are holding up.
  8. - I see…
  9. The stallion took his documents and went off to sit in the lobby. 13 hours of waiting, convincing, bring and begging. Just to keep his home and place of business. The shadows underneath his eyes seemed bigger than ever and the fatigue in them was enough to break the heart even of the most ruthless of tyrants. The clock in the lobby was ticking. Each tick taking slightly longer after every tock. Each tick being slightly louder after every tock. Each tick dimming the room after every tock. Each tick seeming more like an eternity after every tock. Each tick morphing the arrows into bladed pendulums after every tock. Each tick distorting the vision of our stallion after every tock.
  10. Ponies passed him by. No. Not ponies. Shades of ponies. Wisps of ponies. All in line. All seeming calm and collected. Like unsuspecting pigs to the slaughter. Pigs to the slaughter. Was he the only one who could see it? The city hall was a giant slaughterhouse, the wisps were the pigs and the ponies behind the desks were mad butchers, ready to split them apart and display their meat for all to see on their hooks. Was everypony so blind? Or were they so emotionally jaded that it did not matter to them? Is this how it will end? Not a war of carnage, an incurable plague, or the hubris of the few. But by the silent and potent hooves the bureaucratic system. How could they just stand by and accept their fate? Why would they? Why was this unicorn alone the only one who can see this? WHY WAS HE BURDENED WITH THE GIFT OF KNOWLEDGE?
  11. -Excuse me, young stallion, are you last in line?
  12. -DON’T YOU DARE TOUCH ME YOU VILE ORGANISM! I DARE NOT CALL YOU A PONY, NEITHER OF YOU! IF YOU WERE TRULY SENTIENT BEINGS, YOU WOULD SEE THE SOUL-CRUSHING WAYS OF THIS SYSTEM! YOU ARE BLIND! BLINDED BY YOUR EMOTIONAL ACCEPTANCE! YOU ARE ALL JUST LIVESTOCK, READY TO BE EATEN UP BY HIGHER-UPS AND THIS IS THEIR MARKET PLACE OF MORBID DELIGHT! YOU ARE ALL FOOLS TO CONTINUE! YOU WILL ALL DIE A GRISLY DEATH AFTER YOU’VE GIVEN UP YOUR MEANINGLESS LIVES! YOU WILL ALL ROT IN THE GROUND AND WHAT WILL YOU HAVE TO SHOW FOR IT? YOUR IMMACULATE DOCUMENTATION? I SPIT ON YOU! I SPIT ON ALL OF YOU! IF THIS IS WHAT TO BE PONY IS, THEN I DENOUNCE MYSELF IN FRONT OF THE AETHER! MY SOUL WON’T BE TAINTED! I WON’T ALLOW IT! I WON’T ALLOW IT!

  15. Dopey slowly got up from the couch and walked towards the front door. What he saw on the other side widened his half closed eyes.
  16. -Good evening, mister…Hopper? This pony here had a…tantrum in the town hall earlier today. He held quite the long speech after which he declared that he was going to overthrow the “devil-spawned system of soulful-crucifixion with the anarchic spirit of liberty and righteousness”. He caused quite the ruckus and after we detained him for a few hours, he said we should come here to sort everything out, including the matter of his bail…
  17.
  18. Dopey stared at the mess which was Nebulous Haze and a devilish smile slowly crept onto his face.
  19. -Grassimir, I know we’ve had our troubled past, but please, do the right thing here and-…
  20. -I’m sorry, officer, I’ve never met this pony in my life.
  21. -I see. Sorry to have bothered you at such a time.
  22. -Hopper! You damned traitor! You’ll pay for this! I’ll break your legs! I’ll cut off your tongue! I’ll hang you in front of your mother’s house!
  23. The officer took the unicorn away as he was yelling at top of his lungs. Dopey closed the door.
  24. -The system works.
