  1. He never expected himself to be mastering this sort of magic. But when one advances as far as Nerin does.. he imagines that it becomes simply inevitable. Besides, why should he waste away and do nothing with his natural strength and power that comes about to him, almost as if it's meant to? Why should he not learn more, when he's clearly capable of doing so?
  2.
  3. "Thanks for coming along, by the way."
  4.
  5. Out to the lake in the middle of the forest.. where nobody would disturb them. Here, the nature offers bountiful space for them to go about, to finish up Nerin's studies; for he imagined that the most part of it was already done by Wano and Id alike, as well as the practice of control that he's learned before.
  6.
  7. And in truth.. he never experienced the struggles with raw strength. Not with Energy magic.
  8.
  9. Because by the time he decided to study it, by the time he decided that he wishes to wield this sort of magic.. he was already capable enough to overwhelm most of the obstacles in his life- certainly, this one wouldn't be so different either, would it?
  10.
  11. "My biggest struggle with Energy is that of control."
  12.
  13. "Wano, earlier on, overwhelmed my circuits to attune them better to said control- but according to him, I have no issues with raw strength or talent at all. At this point, it's all about honing the precision and control for me."
  14.
  15. "So I was thinking.. why not do that here?"
  16.
  17. Here, control directed at her. He would have double the reason to actually stay focused and ensure nothing misfires.. or else she could get badly hurt.
  18.
  19. Now, he'd avoid that, wouldn't he?
  20. (Nerin)
  21.
  22. "You don't have to thank me for any of that." Being beside him wasn't some type of job or chore. Nor was accompanying him in the midst of his lessons. To be quite honest, even she, understands how difficult it is for people to do things alone- especially, when they've been trying so hard to push forward and make 'differences' within the world that'd separate them from the average hero. Unfortunately, there are also point of views that should or shouldn't be shared, especially since she felt strongly about him learning something new...When she feels as if he doesn't need it.
  23.
  24. He's strong.
  25.
  26. One of the strongest people that she knows. But while energy magic is the basis of all living things, she wished that he would've went further in the studies of his own body and abilities. To make bone do more miraculous feats...So much so, that everyone wouldn't want him to just 'mentor' them, but to teach them his magic as well. However, she doesn't mention such...For what he learns is simply, what he desires to learn.
  27.
  28. "-So that means that you've progressed from what Id was saying then?" She murmurs, blinking once, twice. She didn't get to see the letter written but considering how quick the mute girl had left...It might've not been too good. However, the girl would just nod.
  29.
  30. "Control isn't so bad...I imagine, if you're capable of sending mana to your body like how you create bones, then simply 'harness' enough control should be a cake walk." She nods once, twice..
  31.
  32. "Here is good..But, hmm, what would you want me to do to help you establish 'control'?"
  33. (Marísol)
  34.
  35. There are things that complicate his life. Things in which he believes that pushing the boundary of the body isn't something that he would achieve anytime soon.. and quite frankly, it would be something that could take decades upon decades. Flesh, after all, isn't as easily malleable.. and while he imagines that he could always return to the studies of body at some point in the future..
  36.
  37. Until then, he needs something else.
  38. Something reliable. Something good.
  39.
  40. "I have. Wano already taught me how to manifest the wave of energy, and in fact, I could even use it right now." It's.. rather impressive, is it not? He's definitely got talent to progress so much, so quickly.. almost as if he's innately determined to make a change in his life.
  41.
  42. The change that would bring about necessary results.
  43.
  44. That talk he had earlier inspired him. Not with Marisol, not with Wano, or Id.. but with someone else entirely- someone who called for action, and Nerin was willing to respond. But to digress.. here and now, he would need to be assured of his precision - he would need to acknowledge that he's entirely ready for what's to come in his life.
  45.
  46. For what may be happening soon enough.
  47.
  48. "What I need you to do?"
  49.
  50. That's rather simple.. steadily, his hands already extend out, pointing themselves into the direction of Marisol; here, she could feel the steady tug and pull of the mana within her, one in which the restrain is drawn forth- the brilliance of blue shimmers upon his palm as well, almost as if intending to draw the priestess closer - and practically bind her in the ethereal chains.
  51.
  52. "Resist."
  53.
  54. Here and now, something begins to envelop her.. something strange, yet something that Nerin would have to work with to not hurt her.
  55.
  56. Isn't that what precision is?
  57. (Nerin)
  58.
  59. It seems that he's beyond the basics then... Which only made her realize that Nerin proceeded in his lessons at an alarming rate in comparison to others. He moved to another teacher and got one that spoke well in comparison to the rude Id. Especially since she has a terribly superiority complex over people who lose against her. The most entertaining and 'different' thing about it is that...She has never once chuckled or looked down to Mariso or Cristovan...Very odd.
  60.
  61. "No need to use it...But if you want me to resist, then that's all that you'd have to say." In moments such as this, she realizes that the process to contrast and constrict is a fragile one....And so, she does what she knows best..
  62.
  63. A thin veil of light would soon appear around her being when she first feels the energy wave waft over her figure. The gold fluctuation, rubber-banding tightly around herself while she awaits for what Nerin could possibly create..
  64.
  65. "I won't break so easy...Not with my magic." But he could try.
  66. (Marísol)
  67.
  68. His talent most certainly helped. But considering the fact that he was already able to manifest Energy magic, it was something rather quaint.. which only shows just how much he's really able to do when he actually puts his mind to it, and just how much he's able to learn if he decides to commit to something. Isn't it great, then, to be so determined?
  69.
  70. "Your task is to not become restrained within the binds of Energy magic." Here, the shimmering brilliance shines through, and while the first attempts at restraining her are made.. it would seem that his hues steadily narrow down instead, almost as if struggling to compel her to become bound, now that there's resistance with her own magic..
  71.
  72. Something that he needed to ensure he could deal with. After all, it's one thing to be dealing with someone in a peaceful situation.. and it's completely another when somebody is actively resisting him in some way- what he decides to do would be rather creative approach, and while he struggles with restraining her through the subtle machinations of energy, the proverbial 'rings' of energy are fired off.
  73.
  74. One that latches onto her left wrist.
  75.
  76. Inhale, exhale. It's not easy for him to manifest such odd currents of Energy, even if he's already practiced. Here, it becomes a struggle in which he isn't certain whether he would win- but he makes it a challenge for himself by avoiding any harm, rather opting out to purely restrain her.
  77.
  78. Without frying her mana circuitry in any way possible.
  79.
  80. "..How long have you been working with this magic anyway?"
  81.
  82. It's tough. Surprisingly so.. but perhaps, the testament of her strength wasn't in the fact that the priestess has become rather powerful.
  83.
  84. But also in the performance she gives off right now.
  85. (Nerin)
  86.
  87. Don't give in. They are words that remain within her mind, even as she feels the 'mana' remain over her form, practiced but not perfect. Eased in essence, but never, truly a part of reality just yet...If he were going to learn how to make his magic physical, then she, most certainly would attempt to do the same thing as well. For the gentle light that flourishes into existence becomes replaced by something akin to a gentle, obsidian hand..
  88.
  89. "I've been working on light magic for some time...But, I suppose now that you mention it, I should do something that makes it a little more difficult for me and a bit easier for you." and so...Instead of pushing his magic away through forming a barrier...The shadow upon the ground would simply move about instead...
  90.
  91. The dark hands pressed carefully, as if they could grip at the mana threatening topush against her being. "This should be fine for me.." Or perhaps, it'd be her own chance to 'attempt' to escape it one it does happen. Regardless...The struggling ensues.
  92. (Marísol)
  93.
  94. In the moments such as these, it becomes clear just how far he's gotten within this study. Of how far this threatens to go, should he continue walking this road upon which the improvement is found time and time again.. in which there's little room for error, and yet, the steady contradiction between shimmering blue and gold becomes all more apparent as the time goes on.
  95.
  96. Almost urging for something entirely else to happen.
  97.
  98. Here, he remembers.. that as much as Holy magic is powerful, the Energy magic is rather 'omnipotent' for it is the basis of everything living; instead of struggling with quality of magic alone, he comes up with a creative way to go around it, with constant projectiles firing off towards the priestess to hold the restrain over her, latching onto her as if it were parasitic mana.
  99.
  100. First her wrists, then her forearms..
  101. Then her knees, then her torso.
  102.
  103. In a sense, it feels as if she's being 'rushed' and swallowed by the flow of energy, much like it intends to remain upon her from the quantity too large for just about anyone to handle. But even now, it doesn't seem to hurt.. instead cast in a controlled fashion in which she's made to be slowed down time and time again.
  104.
  105. For all intents and purposes, this becomes the study of precision for him. And this right here.. it becomes a testament to how far he's gotten, to how much she would find herself trapped. Even now, it feels overbearingly too much..
  106.
  107. "--You think?"
  108.
  109. "It looks like you're a bit caught up."
  110.
  111. Surely, she could shine through with Holy magic, but.. when it comes to the contest of raw power and quantity, could she really oppose something that saw to it to possess such large numbers?
  112. (Nerin)
  113.
  114. Do not always rely on the late so much. She often remembers that she possesses other magics that would allow her to combat what one might've imagined to be 'restraints' upon her being. But while the omnipresence of such a magic had made itself known...She often remembers that now, isn't necessarily her own time to shine. But instead, it should be utilized to assist him within his own endeavors. Nevertheless, she finds herself beginning to smile briefly as she'd focus more of her own mana within the 'absence' of light itself...Opting to focus upon the visceral creature beneath her being as the hands would come up. They grasp upon the each azure lining...Gripping tightly, trembling, struggling...
  115.
  116. And as they flex and flourish, one could see the shadows race about her frame...As if enveloping her within their mass as she speaks. "It seems that you've caught me..." Surprise? No...Instead, she wills herself to escape. Or atleast, attempt to...
  117.
  118. Only to find that she could not.
  119.
  120. "I-...I think that you're winning this little game of ours. Care to slow down a little bit?" He's good. Very good within his own practices. "I'd rather not lose balance and fall in.." No, it was already tough...And it was getting much, much more difficult by the second. Although- the swimming shadows definitely portray something else.
  121. (Marísol)
  122.
  123. For all intents and purposes, it's much like a snare of ethereal mana. But it's capable of that, is it not? The Energy magi are renowned for how they seem to control the area, themselves and sometimes even other people by manifestation of this pure light.. and so, when he deems her caught, at last he slows down.
  124.
  125. "Mm. It would seem so."
  126.
  127. If anything, he's actually surprised on his own.. for the simple fact that he didn't expect this little bit of creativity to work- but perhaps she was lost within the moment, unknowing what to do against the sudden strategy of 'rushing' her with the overflowing quantity of energy pressuring her, so much so that she would become trapped within it.
  128.
  129. That, however, is a proof to his skill.
  130. A testament to the advancement made.
  131.
  132. And he needs no another. When she speaks that he's winning the battle, the chains steadily fall off- the chains of ethereal mana that were coming onto her previously. It would most definitely be a very useful skill for the times to come, he imagines.. but it would also be something to hone later.
  133.
  134. As it stands, the precision is something that he believes to qualify for.
  135.
  136. The control and precision that Wano has spoken of. It doesn't mean that it's necessarily easy for him, however.. for when this ends, he quietly huffs out, somewhat worn out by the experience. Although..
  137.
  138. "..I think I'm done with this. In case I'd need more, I'll inform you." But for now?
  139.
  140. "We can take a break."
  141.
  142. Yet, as much as it seems he's more or less 'done' with Energy magic.. he's certain that this is just the beginning.
  143.
  144. The beginning of something more.
  145. (Nerin)
