  1. The quick summary: other than having lost almost 1/2kg of weight, he's doing pretty well.
  2.
  3. Unfortunately, the emergency care vet hadn't sent his files on, as I had asked them to, so the doctor is still waiting for those to really see what this other place's diagnosis and reasons were for doing what they did.
  4.
  5. I got the vet to do some tests on Otter while he was there, and the renal (kidney) function doesn't look too bad for him at the moment. There was one level that was a little high, but not too high. So he's stable in his kidney issues for now.
  6.
  7. The other test, to do with blood sugar - fructosamine, which is a better reading of what the blood sugar has been doing over time, over the home-testing kit - was on the high side (398), but the last time he was tested for it back in mid-November he was 433. So it's down, and that's good. (high level on the 'normal' range is around 349). So, he's really not doing that badly for his diabetes right now either.
  8.
  9. He still could do a little better on the hydration side of things, but he is eating and drinking well at home. If I need to, I still have some subcutaneous fluids that I can give him, and the vet gave me a Big Ol' Syringe that I can use to do that. (It's just around 35ml of fluid in two places, so really not as scary is it sounds)
  10.
  11. Picked up some more wet food for him to give him some in the evenings, as I am going to keep giving him the renal supplement the other vet gave. Certainly not a bad thing considering he does have some kidney issues.
  12.
  13. The antibiotics, my vet isn't sure what that's about, and they want to get the files to know why they were prescribed.
  14.
  15. All in all, considering what he went through, he's come out of it in as good of a shape he can for his age.
