  1. Wizard orders:
  2. - White/Green (Wizards focused on the cause of Good. They follow the paths of knowledge, wisdom, and protection magic. White robes are of good alignment, and often lawful.)
  3. - Black (Wizards focused on the cause of Evil or the pursuit of greater power. They are often cunning and seek the quickest route to power to satisfy their hunger for magic though they aren't chaotic and careless, they often seek more subtle ways rather than open acts of violence or evil because such actions endanger the magic and without it they are powerless. Black robes are of lawful or neutral evil alignment.)
  4. - Red/Yellow (Wizards focused on knowledge and balance, and ultimate loyalty to magic. They have no tendencies to lean toward good nor evil, they seek to maintain the balance much like the goddess Musenth. Red robes are of pure neutral alignment.)
  5. - Blue/Purple (Wizards focused on power, being much like Black robes though often through less evil or coniving means. They are calculating and seek the easiest way to attain power much like Black robes though they try to do so through more good means than evil. Blue robes are often of neutral or chaotic alignment.)
  6. - Gray/Brown (Wizards focused on the cause of Good, they often share the same goals as White wizards though see little value in always going through the proper channels and will do whatever they feel necessary for the greater good. Gray robes are of good alignment, and often chaotic.)
  7.
  8. - Renegade (Wizards that aren't aligned with the orders of wizardry. Renegades can vary in origin, some are individuals that taught themselves and refuse to align with the orders or perhaps simply don't realise they must align with an order and take the test. Some renegades were formerly members of an order that for some reason decided to break away and stop answering to the Tower of Arcana. Renegades are hunted by the Tower of Arcana to be given a chance to align with the orders, or be brought to justice. Sometimes justice means death, though often punishment involves an enchantment place over the individual that prevents them from practicing arcane arts. Renegades are often the most dangerous and unpredictable of wizards, as they answer to no one and don't care about the security of magic's persistence. Renegades are often of chaotic alignment, and many are evil as well.)
  9.
  10. With wizardry comes great power, and responsibility. There is no room for carelessness, incompetence, and disregard. Wizards are powerful, and command respect - even if evil. Wizards should respect their power, just as others respect them and a wizard should never bring shame to the art. Wizards who perform careless destructive acts are a danger to magic. If magic isn't respected, then wizardry could once more become persecuted and outlawed in the world as it was in the past so the orders stand to make certain that only those who truly care for the art's persistence are allowed to practice it.
  11.
  12. The Test:
  13. - The Test will weed out those who are not serious about the arcane arts. Those who fail may die, but Ithsian deccreed that the mage must be willing to sacrifice his life in the defense of magic. Not only is the Test given to weed out those who could misuse that power, but to teach the aspiring mage something about her/himself. If the apprentice chooses not to take the Test, they are never allowed to learn more than beginner's spells. The Test may be taken by an apperentice at any of the Towers of Arcana throughout the realms. No two Tests are ever alike, and most mages will never talk about what transpired during their Test.
  14.
  15. - There are a total of three tests. Three tests are to a mage's knowledge of magic, using all of their spells. Three more tests are for the mage to use all of their wit, without using magic alone. One test involves someone they love, and one more test against a greater adversary, someone from the apprentice's fears. All tests must be passed, the more risk, the better the reward. Failure brings death.
  16.
  17. - Most apprentices that take the Test, and pass, are left with burning images in their minds, or a bodily injury of some sort. None leave the test unscathed in some way, and the Conclave hopes the wizard has learned from their Test. At the end of the Test, they are offered to join each of the five Orders. Whichever order they embrace, is the color of their robe.
  18.
  19. - Wizards are given robes, a staff, and a spellbook should they pass it.
  20.
  21. Foundations of Wizardry:
  22. - All wizards are brothers and sisters in their order. All orders are brothers and sisters in the power.
  23. - The places of High Arcana are held in common among all orders and no sorcery is to be used there in anger against fellow wizards.
  24. - The world beyond the walls of the towers may bring brother against sister and order against order, but such is the way of the universe.
