  3. NGL, I kind of think that the "Van Eldritch" thing is nothing more than a bit of flavor for what is going to be a stock "evil rich people" family of characters. They'll throw in some references to R'lyeh, their manor will have some loveraftian deep sea motifs, maybe they'll make some inside jokes about how Lovecraft didn't know the first thing about science or mathematics and how "non-eucldian" doesn't mean "mind-warpingly madness-inducingly incomprehensible to mere mortal minds", but at the end of the day they're just going to be a villainous counterpart to Charlie's family consisting of a mean, vapid bitch (Helsa), a knuckledragging douchbag straight out of a 50s movie (Sevathian), and probably a crappy dad whose ego is entirely bound up in his material wealth and a mom who's either a neglectful drunk or a cigarette hag or some other such bundle of tropes.

  5. Pic not related.

  7. I have a theory that they're the ones behind the Exterminators
  8. -
  9. Are you the guy who thinks that the outer gods and elder things and what not exist outside the portion of reality where YWHW and Lucifer are duking it out?
  10. -
  11. Right on the money.
  12. -
  13. So what do they get out of sending in the exterminators? They just get to snack on all the souls that fall into the abyss after they're erased?
  14. -
  15. Short answer, pretty much yeah.
  16. Long answer, their true true motives are probably uncomprehendable.
  17. Although Azathoth is described in a similar vain to Lucifer
  18. >Y)e blind idiot, ye noxious Azathoth shal arise from ye middle of ye World where all is Chaos & Destruction where He hath bubbl'd and blasphem'd at Ye centre which is of All Things, which is to say Infinity....
  19. So maybe they're trying to over throw Hell so they can have all those fresh souls to themselves.
  20. Really I just came up with this because I like to think Viv isn't a hack and wouldn't resort to "Heaven is the real bad guys".
  21. Plus it gives the Eldritches a purpose other then "Hey look tentacle people".
  22. -
  23. Hell, maybe it's just something as simple as Lucifer being the only thing keeping them from swallowing Earth and going on their merry way.
  24. You'd have to nerf them pretty hard or come up with a good McGuffin for Lucifer to have for that to even be possible, but I'm sure I'll think of something.
  25. ---
  26. I've heard tell that there is a "pure evil" character that we have yet to see, so that means Lucifer isn't meant to be the ultimate villain of this cosmology. I suppose some kind of presence from outside of the basic biblical creation could be a decent threat.

  28. I have the feeling that it might gonna be Satan

  30. Why was my first thought upon seeing Helsa like this, that she was a mature inkling from splatoon? (Maybe only 8 hours’ sleep in two days is to blame)

  33. This. I honestly see the Van Eldrics as being more trope than fleshed-out. I would honestly be very surprised if “spoiled Rich-kid High-school-popular-btch” wasn’t the vibe for both Helsa and Sevathian.
  34.
  35. Then again, I first saw Stolas as a no-depth creep background character based on the pilot, so who knows. Maybe we’ll be surprised about the Van Eldrics.
  36. (ibf “smells like sushi”)

  38. It's the tentacle hair
  39. -
  40. Yeah, probably it.
  41.
  42. … Now I want art of her as an inkling.
  43. ---
  44. I'll agree with you on the Stolas thing. Did not care for him at all from his presentation in the pilot. 2nd episode at least got me interested in him to some degree. I want to say that I've heard Helsa is basically a walking Mean Girls reference. As for Sev, I'm a little unsure now that I think about it. The classic male high school story villain is an extremely aggressive braindead letterman jacket-wearing football hero. I don't get that vibe off of Sev based on his design, but that could be for no other reason than these people can't bear to stray too far away from dapper twinks in many different flavors. The whole top-hat and suit BUT ITS DARK GREEN AND THEREFORE LOVECRAFTIAN design on him doesn't point in that direction. Maybe he'll be more akin to the bad guy from James Cameron's Titanic.

  48. So a bit of a prepompious gentleman-jock. Yeah, that would fit better in Line of how we is supposedly Charlie’s ex.
  49. ---------------
  50. that be cool to see in the show.. if it does happen.
  51.
  52. also I am having fun with quake champions and one of the songs called "The Elder World" so I think it's fit with this talk.

  56. I have no idea what kind of music that viv will give to the Van Eldritch family but i hope it's cool as fk.

  60. Whichever sells the Lovecraftian/uncannyness best I’ll wager. Probably something classy with something horror-tjenes or synthesized to sell the “classic but wrong” Vibe.
  61.
  62. As long as it’s not pop
