- "How does it look Professor?" Gregor shouted over the raor of the massive machine.
- "A bit closer Greg, couple more inches." Stroff said, his voice competing with the machine's rumble.
- Gregor sat in the cockpit of the bulldozer, the scoop on the front had been removed and instead refitted with a massive wedge to push the door open. Following Stroff's words he shifted the machine inching it up against the door with a dull thump.
- "PERFECT!" Shouted Stroff, "Easy does it now."
- Gregor nodded, tapping the accelerator. The dozer groaned and creaked as it pushed against the heavy stone door, it's treads spinning, catching, and spinning again. The cave became filled with the machine's loud noises as Stroff looked on with white knuckles.
- "GIVE IT ALL SHE'S GOT GREG!" Stroff's voice now trying to compete with the deafning noise.
- The diesel engine roared it's loudest yet as Gregor put his foot to the floor. The treads spinning so hard loose bits of stone kicked up. Just as it seemed hopeless there was headway, a cracking that sounded like thunder tore through the cave as the doors bucked inward.
- The noise horrifed Stroff. "GREGOR! STOP! IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING BROKE!"
- Gregor cut the engine, the cave once again becoming all but silent.
- "Sorry Professor, there wasn't any indication on my end." Gregor said climbing down off the machine. "I don-'t see any cracks in the stone that would indicate damage." He said eyeing the doors.
- "At the very least it looks like the doors are no longer stuck." Stroff said leaning against one of the two. "Help me with this will you Greg?"
- The two men pushed against the door as hard as they could. Stone grinded against stone as their struggled to force it open. Stroff and Gregor pushed hard as the crack between the two doors grew, the two finally stopping when a shaft of light managed between the gap.
- "Professor," Gregor said poking his head inside. "You'll want to see this."
- Stroff and Gregor stepped inside, their eyes adjusting to the faint light that seemed to radiate from within. The room itself reminded Stroff of a Cathedral with it's vaunted ceiling and high walls.
- Gregor pointed somewhere into the darkness, "what-is-THAT?" He said.
- In the center of the room stood a large opaque bone white crystal
