  2. A telephone is comprised of a transmitter, receiver (both contain ways to convert sound waves to electric signals and vice versa), mount, dial, and ringer.

  4. Voice enters a diaphragm which vibrates into the carbon grains, converting sound into electric signals. The signal is transmitted through wires to a receiver, which then expresses the signal through a magnet which moves a diaphragm in the same way as it was received.
