Late Sleeper - One Shot (MLP, Celestia)

Celestia, despite being the sun incarnate, was not a morning pony. She would often wake up, raise the sun...and then find time to go back to bed for an hour. She was a Princess of Equestria, after all. She could push her schedule back if she wished, even completely clear it at a whim. As a result, things never really got moving at Canterlot Castle until roughly ten A.M.

Woe be it to any pony that came to her with a problem before she's had her coffee, either. They'd usually get a nasty remark, muttered under her breath as she poured herself a steaming cup.

Since Luna's return, Luna has learned of her sister's...new habit fairly quickly. Especially since the insincere threat to "banish her into the sun next time."

Luna had nervously laughed it off...then quickly retreated from the sister's shared kitchen.

Today was not starting great.

Not only had Celestia yet to have her morning coffee...

She wasn't even fully awake yet. There was already some diplomatic emergency, right in her very own castle. Luna couldn't be reached to deal with it, and Twilight was too far away...and also asleep. Like Celestia SHOULD be.

Despite dealing with this kind of thing for over a thousand years, it still annoyed her greatly.

Donning her regalia in a sleepy haze, she then stumbled out of bed and down to the guest quarters, where she could already hear the shouting.

A quiet, almost silent groan escape the ivory mare.

The Sun Princess contemplated just not raising the sun at all today.

"Emergency" dealt with, Celestia returned to her room. It was merely some Minotaur diplomat 'outraged' over the lack of protein in the castle's food. Celestia promised to make special arrangements for breakfast for him, and all was well.

The tired mare took off her crown and ornate necklace, kicking her legs before realizing she hadn't put on her golden horseshoes at all.

"Please don't let it be dawn yet..."

Her alarm clock went off moments later.

"Oh for the Ancients sake!"
