  1. Name: Analiya Worthyborn Race: Aasimar Class: Divine Sorcerer
  2.
  3.
  4.
  5. Analiya's parents were slaves to a particularly wicked estate seated somewhere in the countryside. Their masters were religious fanatics of any God that would let them hold sway over their twenty-some-odd slaves. Each slave was purchased young, and had it ingrained into their heads that they were unworthy of living in anything but squalor, that they deserved to be worked to the bone every waking moment because their birth had been frowned upon. Every single one of them believed it, and as the plantation they worked passed between generations of owners, even what once began as an excuse to trick their slaves was believed by their masters. The plantation produced food, medicinal or recreational herbs, and even tried its hand at livestock for a few years before going back to plants -- the ultimate interest of the masters was money.
  6. Analiya was born at the beginning of one of the best seasons that the plantation had ever seen to her two, ordinary human parents. Her divinity was immediately apparent, the morning sun glistening upon her her golden locks revealing the faint outline of a halo upon her head. Her parents tried to hide her from the masters, fearing that they would take away their daughter if they found out that they had given birth to someone so obviously worth more than the sum of her parents.
  7.
  8. Their fears were realized when she was four years old, and the sight of a halo upon Analiya's head was enough for them to snatch her up from her father's arms. Her father, conditioned since the day he was born to submit to his masters, found the courage to fight back. He struck his master in the face, breaking his nose, but such a simple wound was nothing compared to the steel of well-forged shortswords. The sight of blood running from her father's lips was ingrained into Analiya's mind forever, something she still remembers in moments of silence.
  9.
  10. Despite the horror of her kidnapping, Analiya was treated well by her 'new family,' as her once-masters had begun referring to themselves. Despite her young age, Analiya knew intrinsically that everything in her life was wrong -- she also knew that were she to try and stop it, things would only become worse.
  11.
  12. For the better part of the next fifteen years, Analiya was the perfect little divine child that she was expected to be. She was given lessons in propriety, lady-like behavior, and how to stare down her nose at those her 'family' deemed unworthy. She hated every moment of it, but she knew that she must do this so that she could one day make it right.
  13.
  14. However, in-between her lessons in manners and prejudice, Analiya found time to visit her mother in the slaves' stables in secret. Her mother was the most wonderful woman she ever knew, teaching her truly proper things, such as the value of a warm smile and kindness to strangers. Love for her mother was all that kept Analiya going in life, the only thing that gave her the energy to act how the masters wished her to act.
  15.
  16. Of course, Analiya's mother was still a slave, and was being worked to the bone just like any other. It came time when she was nearing forty years old that her body simply couldn't take any more. She began slowing down, and her work declined in turn. The masters noticed this, and while they did not immediately set her to the dogs, punishments were administered.
  17.
  18. It was only when Analiya's visits to her mother were discovered that it was decided that her mother would be put to death, and that Analiya would be made to watch.
  19. "Why do you cry, my divine child? You must know by now from your lessons that such filth as her has no meaning. Her life is but the grubs we pull from our fields, and crush between our fingers. You will watch, and you will learn this lesson in full."
  20. And so, Analiya watched as her mother was chained to a tree and whipped to death. Just as Analiya could feel the spark of life leave her mother's body, her divine bloodline sparked something else.
  21. Light poured from her being like a sun as she yelled in anguish, and magic flowed through her body. Pulsing waves of pure life energy escaped her as she walked toward her mother, each step requiring herculean effort until she could bend over and touch her mother.
  22.
  23. Her mother's body glistened in response to such pure energy, the many slashes across her back healing nigh-instantly just before a gasp of air entered her mother's lungs.
  24.
  25. Happy, but not yet satisfied, Analiya turned to face her so-called 'family' that had been trying to poison her mind for her entire life. One by one, she focused this energy on each of them, only taking a blink of an eye, and they each fell to the ground, nothing more than a fine dust. An entire lineage wiped from history in no more than a few moments.
  26.
  27. Analiya couldn't help it -- she laughed. She laughed, and laughed, and laughed some more until she fell to her knees, the power she so expertly wielded slowly fading.

  31. The aftermath of Analiya's outburst, of her first moments of power as a sorcerer, were not quiet as far-reaching as she expected. Since the day her father had stood up to the masters all those years ago, some of the slaves had been planning a revolt. She had simply done the hard part for them, even being so kind as to leave no bodies or witnesses behind. The slaves took over the estate, turning it into a much more kindly-run plantation, if markedly less profitable.
  32. Analiya couldn't stand the sight of the place, and asked her mother to come with her to find a place in the world. With no small twinge of fear, though, her mother declined. She still loved her little girl, and despite the fact that Analiya's powers had simmered down to what one would expect from a novice, she claimed she had no place in a world where someone could end the lives of so many in an instant. Even if such an image terrified her, she was sure to tell Analiya that she was welcome back home whenever she wanted. Nothing could quell the love she felt for her only daughter.
  33.
  34. Analiya was heartbroken that her mother would not come with her, but she needed to leave the place she had been trapped in for so long. She did not know whether to hold faith in the same Gods that had been the reason for a life of hatred that had surrounded her, but she knew that she would use the power that had been granted to her for good.
