- The sun is going down, but the time of day won't matter once her body adjusts to the temperature. Her journey takes her outside Lunemere's gate, and changing behind a tree, she decides to take her swim near the docks. Dressed in nothing but her swimsuit, the only problem now would be to get herself in the water. In that, there is signs of hesitation, she can imagine how cold she might feel once her skin makes contact with the sea.
- She takes a deep breath, though her mutation was not always a part of her, she tries to psyche herself up.
- 'I have to survive, anything, everything, no matter the circumstance, some cold water isn't going to do me in. I will not die, and I will not freeze up and surrender my life over...' She repeats a few more mantras inside her head, lowering her stance, and suddenly bursting forth in the direction of the sea.
- In just three steps, she reaches the part where the earth sinks into the shoreline. She leaps with all her might to gain some serious airtime. With no formal training in jumping, she is surprised to find herself gliding through the air. Her feet make first contact with the water, the rest of her body crashing into it within the same second. Luckily she held her breath, but with the surprise, she is quick to engage herself, throwing her limbs around to pull herself back up through the water. Whatever training she's had swimming in her life, it only came back to her as a doggy paddle, the strength of her limbs causing significant splashes. With the moon soon to be out, the sea was not still, as a result causing waves to crash, and Thalia being inexperienced had to react to any distributions of water sending her way.
- The first thing she thought, as expected, 'cold!' The water stripped her of a lot of her natural warmth, but as luck would have it, flailing around her body was a pretty effective way to kindle just a bit more heat, still the adjustment wasn't instant, and it took a lot of her thinking power away from her, much like pain normally would. Water rushes over her face, and she must hold her breath on the moment of contact. If she had been a normal human, there might have even been a very real risk of her drowning this far out from the shore.
- She endures for 30 seconds, the time of which felt long to her, she is spending her time throwing her hands and legs just to ensure she could keep breathing every moment or two above the water. Her senses seem to come to her, and she directs her movements in such a fashion that it draws her back to land. The process is slow, this was a time, if any, to work on her form, she goes from up and down motions, to trying to flap her legs and wings as if they were wings skimming the water, this helped give her body a better understanding of the resistances placed on it in something like water.
- Her endurance holds up, she tries a more pronounced motion, alternating the use of her limbs to a rhythm, her body could feel the displacements of water, but it was difficult to source when the water was already on the move even without her input. Eventually, she finds some grace to the style, and is able to pick up some speed on the last stretch back to shore, she is able to stand now above the water, and take in some much needed deep breaths to both calm herself, and restore the stamina spent on such a first run.
- It is not long, before she willingly goes back out into the water. Her comfort would improve dramatically as time goes by, and within an hour, she is able to force herself to swim down through the water, holding her breath for upwards of 30 seconds at a time without significant strength loss from lack of oxygen. The sun would eventually disappear entirely, and with the cold starting to become unbearable, she will climb her way back out of the water, returning to dry off and change back into her usual clothes.
