  1. "Unwritten" Rules in Pokemon Speedrunning
  2. These rules are generally in effect unless a category's rules specifically mention otherwise. Historically they haven't been written out due to being broadly applicable outside just Pokemon speedrunning.
  3. Additional rules may be enforced beyond this list, questions should be directed to the Pokemon Speedrunning Discord.
  4.
  5. Functions that are only available on 3rd party controllers such as "Turbo" are not allowed.
  6. Trading between games, even if both games are started from new save files, and even if the games are played by the same person, is not allowed.
  7. Per the previous line, runs must be performed by one person.
  8. Flashcarts such as the Everdrive are disallowed for console runs. Fake/reproduction cartridges and/or consoles are also banned. An exception may be made for GBA runs on GBI-SR where the cartridge dump can be validated.
  9. If GBI is used in place of the original GBP disc for console runs, settings that affect run timing such as the length of the reset delay must not be modified. Runners should use GBI-SR.
  10. Game cartridges are expected to be seated properly, "cart-tilting" bugs are not allowed.
