- It had been a week since the monsters came into the unit, they were fully checked in and had all their gear issued to them. Wright meet the rest of his squad at the armory as the machine gunners were giving a class to all the juniors. He leaned back on one of the cleaning table and watched his three juniors wright notes down in their little notebooks. Schmid the living armor, Rossi the salamander, and Kelly the dullahan. He took a sip from his monster can as Lcpl Saine, one of the machine gun squad leaders. "Which one's yours?" Wright pointed over to all the machine gunner boots. Saine sighed, "Alby and Sato, come over here." The hellhound, and red oni came running over. "Yes, Lcpl." He pointed to the 240, "You two are next to show dis and ass." They both nodded and walked over pulling one of the 240s' off to the side. He watched as Sato made quick work disassembling the 240 and putting it all together. Next was Alby. He watched her kneel down and start to pull the machine gun apart. Her massive paws gave her trouble in getting some of the tiny pins but she seemed to use her nails for pulling the pins out. Putting it all back together made her seem clumsy, although her and her peer seemed as though they could toss the 27 pound gun around like it was nothing. Wright pulled his boots once the note taking class to dis and ass. Rossi was up first, she was confident but, she too had trouble with the small pins that Alby indicated with her nails. She took it apart and brought it all back together. Next was Kelly, she set her head next to her and started. As she disassembled the 240 she would place all the small pieces and pins in front of her head as her body kept working. Last was Schimd, she took the weapon apart just fine and put it back together as well. While they were doing all this Wright was looking through their notes to see if they were actually focused on the previous class. they had, except Rossi. She had started taking notes but it looked like she faded into day dreaming. He shook those thoughts out of his head. "Rossi, come here." She stood up and came over to him. "Yes corporal?" He handed her her note book back. "You didn't take notes, you just started and left it. Team PT tomorrow, make sure you study the notes from your peers." She looked at her notes then back up to him. "Yes Corporal." He sighed and looked over to Saine. "What's a good slay, I'm thinking a log." Saine nodded and pointed to his two. "Watch out, they are stronger than they look. Those two smoked all their peers and almost all of the seniors. Just don't run them to hard we have the hike friday." He nodded and went back to watching his three.
- The next morning Wright was shocked awake by his alarm, 0445. He sighed and through on boots, utes, and Flak. Heading down the stares he found his three in front of the barracks in boots, utes, and flak. Schmid looked like a kid in her gear, the Flak was a size to big because of her armor. Rossi looked almost normal except for her massive boots for her feet and hole in her trousers for her tail. Kelly looked like a regular person, her head was on her shoulders and seemed to stay there. He made note of that for later. They all looked tired and seemed to fade in and out for a second, that wont last long though. "There's a log just big enough for two people at a time on it, and that log needs to get to the top of the mountain to see its friends." They started to the bottom of the hill where the log rested. The next fifty minutes was spent slugging up the hills to the mountain top. Write and Rossi took the first bit on the log, then Schmid and Kelly. They finally made it to the top after another five minutes of pushing. "Take five, keep moving, and sip water." Wright was dripping in sweat from the run, how ever he noticed like how Saine said. They looked like they just ran two miles flat with nothing. He pulled out a cigarette and light it up, his focus was now on the camp below them, and how the clouds seem to roll over the ridge line and drip into the camp. Finishing up his cigarette he turned back to the log and pointed to the rest of them. "Going down is faster but easier to hurt yourself, don't run but the faster we get back the faster you can shower and go eat." The run back down took about thirty minutes, making sure to hide the log at the bottom of the hill. After they came back to the barracks he had them circle around him to stretch out and cool down. "There's a platoon formation before we get off work, we are probably going to get passed word for this Hike coming up and field OP soon. Clean up and standby for more word." They all replied 'Aye Corporal' and headed up to their rooms.
