- SLSS 1.5 ARMOR RULES (draft)
- Changes from previous version:
- + Reduced the amount of bonus AC given by armor
- + Added a "Damage Reduction" function for armor
- + Added a Armor coverage function
- Armor rules reminder: we are retaining most of the rules of the original armor system so you might want to read up here too to get quickly acquainted again.
- Damage reduction = Wearing armor passively reduces the amount of damage you take depending on the type of damage you take, but only on the parts of you that are armored. if there is a second number in the DR use the lower number for bludgeoning attacks and if the armor is lighter than (Scale Mail) use it for piercing attacks, too. Some types of magic (weapons or ammo in some cases) can also bypass armor so keep that in mind!
- Armor type = Note that you must be proficient and or trained in the use of a certain type of armor to use it effectively, this will also reduce how much time it takes to put on the armor. By default, you do not need to be proficient in the use of (Light armor) to use it effectively, but (medium) and (heavy) armor do, and if you aren't the (armor check) penalty will also affect your attack rolls.
- Misc effects: Wearing medium or heavy armor will reduce your overall Mo, medium armor reduces it by 15% and heavy armor by 20% (pro tip; use google to calculate then note it on your sheet). Sleeping while wearing armor is also very bad, if you do, you'll wake up with the (Moderate pain) condition which will last for roughly 2 hours.
- Max Dodge = The maximum amount of RE derived AC you can apply while using this armor. If your RE dodge is higher than this number it will be reduced to the amount listed.
- Check penalty = Strength, Dexterity and spellcasting checks that are not ritual-less will receive a penalty equal to the number listed when wearing this armor. No, this does not mean that you'll deal less damage in combat this is only if you try to do something other than attacking with these stats.
