BACKGROUND: Cheung Mei Wai, or Mia Cheung, was born in Hong Kong in her home. Her home just happened to be.... a motorhome. Her parents, Kwan Chung (Albert) and Ting Yan (Elisabeth) were well known as the most eccentric couple in Hong Kong. They lived in a motorhome (and moved location as needed), and also owned a little store where they sold their own ridiculously weird and funny products for kids. Oftentimes people could hear mini-explosions from outside the camper van, as a result of her parents' very odd experiments. Mei Wai and her little brother Ming Hao (Joshua), who was two years younger than her, were almost always the guinea pigs for their parents' product trials, and much media attention (often not so great) was on her and her family since she was young. Although Mei Wai was at first only known because of her parents' crazy antics and lifestyle, she soon became even more known for her hilarious comedy skills and singing talent, and for being exceptionally adept in English. By sophomore year at Sheng Li High School (NOTE FOR AUTHOR: does it have to be a real high school?) her teachers began noticing her exceptional talent in all those areas (music, comedy and English) and wondered if she should transfer to Eopsik High School in South Korea, the top School for talented students in Asia, since it was now accepting female students for the next school year. The teachers talked with Mei Wai about it. She was actually excited about such a big opportunity. Of course, she was slightly worried about the language barrier, but she had already been learning Korean for two years as an additional language, so wasn't TOO too concerned. When she talked with her parents and her brother about transferring for her junior high school year, they were actually thrilled and immediately agreed. Her brother always wanted to see a new country (they had never gone outside China before), and her parents were looking to open a new location of their store. Leaving the Hong Kong location in the care of a family friend, the Cheung family drove their motorhome a long, long way to Seoul, South Korea, to live there, send Mei Wai to Eopsik, and open a new Korean location of their eccentric store.

PERSONALITY: Mei Wai is very bubbly. She is super energetic and cheerful, and loves to make people laugh or smile… or both! She is super into comedy, and telling jokes and dancing hilariously badly is right up her alley. Mei Wai is also extremely persistent. She doesn't give up easily, and it's pretty hard to change her mind about things. When she makes up her mind or sets her eyes on a prize, there's no stopping her. She's the never-give-up and never-fall-down type of girl. Mei Wai is also a little bit naive. She hasn't really been outside of Hong Kong much, and has NEVER been outside of China. She also doesn't know much about danger, since she's never really been put in a dangerous situation (except for some of her parents' product trials, but she's never gotten hurt in one of those, nor has her brother). Unfortunately, Mei Wai is also really inattentive (except when she's writing). She often daydreams or loses focus (much to the annoyance of many). It's hard to make her pay attention for a really long time. Although her bubbliness and humour can be considered a good thing, sometimes she is too loud to the point where it is a big turn off for many. Her exuberance often makes people think she is immature or annoying. Mei Wai is also quite uncoordinated. Although she is a healthy weight, she isn't fast, strong, flexible... she's just not coordinated physically. She doesn't really do sports, and only dances a little (and isn't particularly good).

HOW THEY MEET: Mei Wai said an idea, and no one paid attention or heard her. Daniel overheard her idea, and said it louder. Everyone thought it was a great idea, and Daniel took all the credit for it. Mei Wai was mad at him, but held it in. It got worse when she saw Daniel opening the door for the teacher, pulling out the chair for the teacher to sit down, agreeing enthusiastically with everything the teacher said, and smiling way too big when the teacher looked in his direction. Mei Wai instantly saw him as a suckup and a teacher's pet.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Mei Wai thought Daniel was super fake. Unlike everyone else who thought Daniel was so kind and perfect, Mei Wai thought he was just faking a good personality and pretending to be nice to everyone. She thought he seemed way too good to be the real deal, and didn't want anything to do with him.

Daniel thought Mei Wai was really annoying and naive. He hated how inattentive she was, and thought she tried too hard to be funny. He also wondered what it was that she had against him. Also, she said his cats were gross. BIG turn off for Daniel.

RELATIONSHIP:
In the beginning, they hated each other. They wanted nothing more than to wipe the other off the face of the earth. They would fight each other to the death if they got the chance. They pretended to like each other in front of the teachers, but when they were left alone together, let's just say shit would go down (excuse my language). They didn't even remotely like each other until Mei Wai helped Daniel out with homework he was struggling with. Then they softened up to each other a little. JUST a little. They still fought more than they got along. A little while after they softened up, however, they found themselves almost WANTING to spend time together. Like they actually wanted to be together and hang out (or just fight over dogs vs cats, who knows). After a while of getting jealous over seeing them with other people, they both realized they were in love with each other. Basically they go from enemies ----> sorta friends but mostly enemies ----> enemies who deny that they have feelings for each other ----> boyfriend and girlfriend

HOW THEY ACT AROUND EACH OTHER:
Stage 1 (total enemies): They're always giving each other the evil eye. They don't tend to argue much (preferring to just intimidatingly stare the other one down), but when they do, the entire hallway can hear. They pick on everything about each other, ESPECIALLY when it comes to dogs vs cats. Man do those arguments get intense.

Stage 2 (enemies but they softened up to each other slightly): Basically the same as stage one, except that they aren't giving each other the evil eye 24/7, and are trying not to argue too crazily with each other (though they still fight, and still hate each other).

Stage 3 (enemies but have feelings for each other): After the slightly softer stage 2, stage 3 gets even crazier than stage 1. They begin arguing harder with each other than ever and
