Privacy Policy for IG Story Viewer Search

This Privacy Policy describes how the Chrome extension “IG Story Viewer Search” (“the Extension”) handles information.

1. Overview
IG Story Viewer Search adds a search bar to Instagram’s Story viewers list on www.instagram.com so you can quickly find people who viewed your own Stories. The Extension is designed to work locally in your browser.

2. Information the Extension accesses
When you open the viewers list on one of your own Instagram Stories, the Extension may process, in your browser:
• Viewer usernames
• Display names
• Profile picture URLs
• Whether a viewer liked the Story (if Instagram provides that signal)
• Story media identifiers needed to load viewer pages

This information comes from Instagram pages and Instagram’s own first-party APIs that your logged-in browser session can already access. The Extension does not ask you to enter an Instagram password.

3. How information is used
Viewer information is used only to:
• Build an in-memory search index
• Show search results in the viewers dialog
• Paginate additional viewer pages when Instagram returns more results

4. Storage and retention
• Viewer data is kept in memory for the active browsing session / open Story viewers UI.
• The Extension does not write viewer lists to disk, cloud storage, or any developer-operated server.
• Closing the tab or ending the session clears that in-memory data.

5. Data sharing and servers
• The Extension does not send your data to the developer.
• The Extension does not use analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, or third-party SDKs.
• The Extension does not sell, rent, or share user data.
• Network requests made by the Extension, if any, are same-origin requests to Instagram (instagram.com) using your existing browser session, solely to load additional viewer pages.

6. Permissions
The Extension requests access to https://www.instagram.com/* so it can inject the search UI and read/paginate Story viewer data on Instagram. It does not request access to other websites.

7. Children’s privacy
The Extension is not directed to children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes
If this Privacy Policy changes, the “Last updated” date will be revised and the updated policy will be posted at this URL.
