  1. STRAFE®
  2. Alternate version
  3. Written by Sgt Nate V
  4. Based on trailers and a script by PIXEL TITANS
  5.
  6. *CANCELLED stock photo seen in original word doc"
  7.
  8. Due to lack of ideas and general stupidity of how this was going
  9. E3 BUILDING, LOS ANGELES 1995
  10. PIXEL TITANS BOOTH
  11. A PIXEL TITANS Spokesman walks up to the booth. A giant monitor is behind him displaying the PIXEL TITANS logo.
  12. SPOKESMAN:
  13. We now present our feature preview…. STRAFE®!
  14. The image on the monitor then fades to the STRAFE® logo forming as seen in the trailers.
  15. The image then slides to the starting room. The player then picks up the shotgun and heads into the teleporter. A minute of footage is shown. That, however, is enough to spark the audience’s interests.
  16. The monitor zooms in and shows a green wireframe still of the game.
  17. SPOKESMAN:
  18. STRAFE®… Is it a game? Or is it REAL?
  19. After the Spokesman finishes, a GLUTTON bursts out of the wall behind him, smacks him in the face, and menaces the audience watching, particularly our protagonist Tommy. Suddenly, the GLUTTON becomes a green wireframe and disappears.
  20. The spokesman chuckles as he gets back on his feet and wipes the blood off his face.
  21. SPOKESMAN:
  22. STRAFE®, the best game of 1996!
  23. The crowd cheers. We see Tommy cheering with them.
  24. MAY 9th, 1996
  25. We see Tommy skateboarding home from a store, clutching a big-box copy of STRAFE®.
  26. What follows after that is a montage of news reports.
  27. REPORTER 1:
  28. STRAFE®, advertised as the best game of 1996, lives up to that title.
  29. INTERVIEWED BYSTANDER:
  30. His head literally went BOOM! Pieces of brain went flying everywhere!
  31. REPORTER 2:
  32. The Priest of the local Church proclaimed STRAFE® as [BLEEP]ing sick… sick as in Totally Awesome.
  33. TOMMY’S HOUSE - NIGHT
  34. Tommy is calling all his friends about STRAFE®.
  35. TOMMY:
  36. Yo, I just got STRAFE®. Wanna come see me play?
  37. MIKEY:
  38. Hell yeah I do!
  39. ABBY:
  40. Ooh, that sounds fun!
  41. BUDDY:
  42. You have STRAFE®? I gotta see this!
  43. JOBY:
  44. You’re the cool dude now Tommy.
  45. We then cut to Tommy playing the game with his friends huddled around him. Multiple clips of the game, interspersed with shots of Tommy are shown. The crowd CHEERS! Abby gives Tommy a kiss.
  46. Tommy keeps playing. We see close up shots of him rapidly moving the mouse and typing the keyboard. His computer tower starts getting hotter and emitting smoke.
  47. ABBY:
  48. Tommy, STOP!
  49. Tommy doesn’t care. He does soon after his computer shuts off from overheating and his monitor flies off onto the ground.
  50. TOMMY:
  51. We need more RAM.
  52. THE NEXT DAY
  53. Tommy, RAM chips in hand, carefully installs them. He then calls Abby.
  54. TOMMY:
  55. I’ve got those RAM chips in and I’m ordering Pizza. Are you in the mood to see more blood?
  56. ABBY:
  57. Of course I am!
  58. Tommy is playing STRAFE® again, this time with Abby by his side.
  59. ABBY:
  60. Wow, you beat your own record! You get a fat slice.
  61. Abby goes to pick up a thick slice of pizza. Suddenly, A beam of light bursts from the monitor and GRABS Abby!
  62. TOMMY:
  63. ABBY!
  64. He tries to pull her back, but it’s no use. Abby is sucked into the monitor, and into the game as a result. All Tommy has of her now is her pants.
  65. LATER
  66. Tommy has all of his friends gathered in his house.
  67. TOMMY:
  68. We’ve got to get Abby back, guys.
  69. MIKEY:
  70. How? She’s literally in the game!
  71. TOMMY:
  72. I’ve heard rumors on TV about a machine at PIXEL TITANS headquarters that allows you literally go INTO STRAFE®!
  73. PIXEL TITANS BUILDING - NIGHT
  74. We see a shot of the PIXEL TITANS skyscraper, moving upwards from the bottom. A PIXEL TITANS sign is displayed on the top of the building.
  75. Buddy’s car drives up to the front of the building. Tommy walks out.
  76. TOMMY:
  77. I’d like to see Mr. Raney please.
  78. GUARD 1:
  79. You are not allowed to see Raney at this time.
  80. TOMMY:
  81. It’s about STRAFE®.
  82. GUARD 2:
  83. Very well then. Access is granted.
  84. Tommy is in the laboratory of Stephen Raney, CEO of PIXEL TITANS and lead developer of STRAFE®.
  85. TOMMY:
  86. Mr. Raney, I really like your game.
  87. RANEY, in a chair with his back facing TOMMY:
  88. I’m not taking autographs at this moment, kid.
  89. TOMMY:
  90. That’s not the point. The point is while I like your game, I’m not so sure about it now that it took my girlfriend Abby.
  91. Raney is surprised to hear this and gets out of his chair.
  92. RANEY:
  93. It WHAT?!
  94. TOMMY:
  95. The game literally pulled her in!
  96. RANEY:
  97. I’ve got a little history about the game, young man. Sit down with me.
  98. The two sit down.
  99. RANEY:
  100. STRAFE®, started as nothing more than a little, project you could say, with regenerating levels. The rest of the game, however, autogenerated itself. I then decided to sell this game, marketing it like similar games from a couple years back. I gave a free copy to my first son for him to play. All was well, until that fateful day I lost my second.
  101. TOMMY:
  102. How did he die?
  103. RANEY:
  104. I wasn’t aware of the effects on those under the age of, about 12. My wife saw him playing the game, to her horror, and saw him having seizures and vomiting while playing. Eventually, his head exploded. We buried him, and I was infuriated at my own creation for causing the death of my son. I didn’t expect the game to do any more than that.
  105. TOMMY:
  106. I also came here to ask if there truly was a machine that could send me into the game.
  107. RANEY:
  108. Ah, yes. I built that so people could step into their favorite games and play it for themselves. I did intend the user to feel pain. I programmed it so that the user would not die when they would usually die in the game. STRAFE®, however, didn’t seem to follow that programming.
  109. TOMMY:
  110. I don’t care that I might die or not, I just want Abby back!
  111. RANEY, pointing to the machine:
  112. Very well then, step onto that pad over there and put the helmet on.
  113. Tommy obliges. Raney activates the machine. Tommy then begins to vigorously shake and electrifies with green energy all around him.
  114. TOMMY:
  115. THERE’S NOT ENOUGH POWER! WE NEED A SURGE!
  116. Raney then notices a can of SURGE. He runs in front of Tommy, shakes the can, and sprays it on him, giving the machine enough power to teleport him into the game.
  117. TOMMY:
  118. YEAAAAAAAAAAH!
  119. Fade to white.
  120. Fade back to reveal the…
  121. ICARUS – ZONE 1 OF STRAFE®
  122. A large green sphere appears in the middle and fades away to reveal Tommy with the Shotgun from the game. Tommy wanders around the area, and then hears footsteps. GLUTTON footsteps. He fires at the GLUTTON, prompting PAINT IT RED from the game’s soundtrack to begin. Tommy shoots a few more GLUTTONS as he goes along, forgetting that the physics in the game do not apply to him anywhere else as he tries to STRAFE-JUMP like the game. He then sees a group of GLUTTONS charging at him, with a STALKER with them. TOMMY then activates the Shotgun’s flak grenade, eviscerating the GLUTTONS. He then fires upon the STALKER, beheading it. In the corner of his eye, Tommy notices a Railgun, glowing gold as it does in the game. He picks it up and shoots a CARRIER on the ceiling. After that, he goes into a corner and retrieves a keycard from a corpse. He moves the other way into the unlocked door. Inside, he sees Abby, without her pants… and another Abby!
  123. TOMMY:
  124. Abby!
  125. ABBY:
  126. Tommy!
  127. FAKE ABBY:
  128. Tommy.
  129. The fake Abby is low-poly and has a text-to-speech voice to us, but with the realism of STRAFE®, Tommy can’t tell the difference!
  130. TOMMY:
  131. Alright, which one is the real Abby?
  132. ABBY:
  133. I’m the real Abby!
  134. FAKE ABBY:
  135. I am the real Abby.
  136. Tommy points his gun at the real Abby.
  137. ABBY:
  138. Your favorite kind of Pizza is from Pizza Hut!
  139. He points his gun at the Fake Abby.
  140. FAKE ABBY:
  141. Your favorite kind of Pizza is from Pizza Hut.
  142. ABBY:
  143. Your favorite Ninja Turtle is Michelangelo!
  144. FAKE ABBY:
  145. Your favorite Ninja Turtle is Michelangelo.
  146. TOMMY:
  147. I think I know who’s the real Abby.
  148. Tommy shoots the real Abby and goes with the fake. GLUTTONS rush out towards him. He opens fire on a few.
  149. TOMMY:
  150. HEY STEVE! GET US OUT!
  151. RANEY’S LAB
  152. Raney flips a few switches and pushes a button. Tommy and the Fake Abby immediately fall from a hole that appears in the ceiling. Fake Abby just stands there and picks up a wrench off a table, while Raney checks up on Tommy.
  153. RANEY:
  154. Are you OK kid?
  155. Tommy:
  156. I’m fine- LOOK OUT!
  157. Just before he sees his attacker, the Fake Abby smacks him on the head with the wrench. She then proceeds to smash his face in.
  158. FAKE ABBY:
  159. Die.
  160. TOMMY:
  161. Why’d you do that?!
  162. FAKE ABBY, lying:
  163. He was trying to kill you for knowing too much about STRAFE®.
  164. Tommy falls for it, just like how he fell for what she said back in STRAFE®.
  165. TOMMY:
  166. Wait a second. The real Abby lost her pants when she was sucked into the game.
  167. This realization makes Fake Abby go all aggressive on Tommy. He starts chasing him through the building.
  168. Fake Abby kills the guards that try to kill her. Tommy then jumps out of the window. Fake Abby looks out and sees no Tommy. She then continues her rampage. Cut to Tommy just barely hanging onto the building. When he feels the coast is clear, he gets back in and runs out as fast as he can into Buddy’s car.
  169. OUTSIDE PIXEL TITANS
  170. BUDDY:
  171. Yo, where’s Abby?
  172. TOMMY:
  173. I’ll tell you later. Let’s go!
  174. The car speeds off.
  175. TOMMY’S HOUSE
  176. Tommy is explaining everything.
  177. TOMMY:
  178. So, you see, I accidentally killed the real Abby, and took the fake. I noticed it after she killed Raney, and then she chased me. The fake was a creation of STRAFE®. Who knows what she may be doing now.
  179. We then see Fake Abby robbing someone’s parked car and speeding off into the grasslands. The owner then comes onscreen.
  180. CAR OWNER:
  181. HEY! GIVE ME BACK MY CAR!
  182. Fake Abby is seen at an energy block in the grasslands, outside the city. She takes some wires she had with her and begins to connect them to the block. She then finishes with connecting to cords together. A portal opens up behind her. Enemies from STRAFE® pour out.
  183. Rifts into STRAFE® are shown opening in the city from buildings, and all around the world. The inhabitants of the city are menaced and killed by the hordes of STRAFE®. One man is pinned down, slashed, and eaten by a CARRIER. Another’s arm is shot off by a STALKER.
  184. TOMMY’S HOUSE - NIGHT
  185. Tommy and his friends watch a news report on the TV.
  186. REPORTER 1:
  187. Rifts to the popular game STRAFE® have opened up around the world. Monsters from the game are attacking us as we speak. I advise you stay in your homes, gather what weapons you have and can make, and keep your homes secure, as-
  188. The reporter is cut off as a carrier leaps up and tears him to shreds.
  189. TOMMY:
  190. You see that guys? STRAFE® is generating levels in the real world! Or maybe the real world was always STRAFE®! All we can know for sure, is that everyone else is dead.
  191. MIKEY:
  192. This is bad, bad news.
  193. JOBY:
  194. Got any plans?
  195. BUDDY:
  196. Hold up, what’s that under your computer?
  197. Buddy points to a Shotgun from the game materializing from a green wireframe under Tommy’s computer. Tommy walks over, picks it up and cocks it.
  198. JOBY:
  199. If it did that for you, then that means-
  200. MIKEY:
  201. We get guns too!
  202. TOMMY:
  203. You three don’t even have STRAFE®.
  204. BUDDY:
  205. We can just get some from a gun shop, right?
  206. TOMMY:
  207. No. I’m the only one going out on a skateboard. You three stay here and board up the house.
  208. Tommy puts on some sunglasses and gets his skateboard.
  209. MIKEY:
  210. It’s too fast man, you’ll crash hard!
  211. TOMMY:
  212. So I’ll wear a damn helmet.
  213. He puts on a helmet, but soon throws it off.
  214. CITY - NIGHT
  215. Tommy hops on his skateboard and starts shooting whatever monster crosses his path. He headshots a GLUTTON. Some TURRETS detect him and open fire. He blocks with his shotgun, and shoots back. A STALKER fires at him. Tommy shoots it. Eventually, he comes across the Fake Abby.
  216. TOMMY:
  217. YOU! YOU’RE THE ONE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS!
  218. FAKE ABBY:
  219. You are so cute. I would enjoy your death.
  220. Tommy doesn’t give two shits, gives her the finger, and shoots her right in the head. That is also a trigger for all the monsters to find him. He jumps right back on his skateboard and fires the flak grenade right at them. He unfortunately then crashes straight into another horde of GLUTTONS, who tear him apart.
  221. TOMMY:
  222. AAGH! HELP! SOMEBODY! HElp, me…….
  223. Those were Tommy’s last words as we fade to black.
  224. HALPER’S HOUSE – NIGHT
  225. We then immediately cut to a first-person view. Not Tommy’s view, but someone else’s. We are watching through the eyes of Jonathan Halper. Halper devoted his entire life to STRAFE® ever since it was released. He had heard of the news reports when he recorded the latest episode of his favorite show. He gets up and walks to his closet. As he opens the door, we see that he loves STRAFE® so much, he even made a costume of the player character from the game! Halper suits up and walks out, but not before he picks up the machine gun that just generated at his computer.
  226. CITY – NIGHT
  227. Halper encounters three GLUTTONS. He shoots the three as fast as he can. A FAST GLUTTON charges at him from behind. Halper swings his machine gun at it. He hits so hard, he sends the GLUTTON into a tree! A STALKER above attempts to shoot Halper, to no avail. Halper returns fire, knocking the STALKER down from the building. A CARRIER sneaks up on him. Halper smacks it with the wrench on his suit without even looking at it. He then goes deep into the city, shooting whatever comes his way. He fires at an ARMORED GLUTTON behind him, but that just takes down it’s armor. He then shoots it again, blowing it apart. Halper finds a group of STALKERS waiting for him. He jumps over them and fires a grenade at them. Speaking of Secondary fires, he’s gonna have to use that a lot, because three ARMORED GLUTTONS appear right in front of him! After he takes them out, he sees a large group of monsters heading towards a Supermarket. He soon comes across Tommy’s House. The windows are boarded up and the door is heavily locked.
  228. TOMMY’S HOUSE – NIGHT
  229. Inside Tommy’s house, Joby, Mikey, and Buddy are watching the news and eating Pizza Rolls. They hear a knock on the door.
  230. OUTSIDE - NIGHT
  231. HALPER:
  232. Open up!
  233. TOMMY’S HOUSE
  234. The knocking continues. Joby is getting anxious.
  235. MIKEY:
  236. I’ll get it.
  237. Mikey unlocks the door. He sees Halper. He opens his helmet.
  238. HALPER:
  239. I’m here to help. Let me in.
  240. Halper is invited in.
  241. BUDDY:
  242. Why are you here?
  243. HALPER:
  244. I just told you! I’m here to help you guys stop the invasion!
  245. JOBY:
  246. What happened to Tommy?
  247. MIKEY:
  248. I think he died.
  249. HALPER:
  250. Alright, alright. I have a plan. I saw a large group of them heading to the supermarket. We gotta follow them. Grab anything you can that you see as a valid weapon.
  251. Mikey grabs his pocket knife. Joby finds a Skip-it. Buddy grabs a wooden board on the ground.
  252. HALPER:
  253. I’ve got the machine gun. Let’s move out!
  254.
  255. SUPERMARKET – NIGHT
  256. The four arrive at the supermarket. Blood covers the inside and outside. There are several GLUTTONS guarding the entrance.
  257. HALPER:
  258. We’ve gotta find a way in.
  259. BUDDY:
  260. Let’s distract them.
  261. Buddy finds a few nearby corpses. He throws the corpses at the GLUTTONS. They start devouring them. The four run in. Immediately, Joby is menaced by a carrier. Mikey stabs it in the back of the head. Halper breaks into a meat stand, unwraps and throws a large piece of ham in front of two GLUTTONS. This allows him to break for it. Buddy slams a STALKER between his wooden board and a rack of food items. Joby gets an empty shopping cart. He notices an explosive barrel generating next to him. He puts the barrel in the cart and runs down an aisle with a large group of GLUTTONS at the end. He swings at the monsters next to him. Eventually, he lets go, and the shopping cart RAMS into the GLUTTONS, causing the barrel to explode. Buddy picks the pockets of some dead GLUTTONS, finding fresh scrap.
  262. HALPER:
  263. Give it to me. It could help us.
  264. Buddy hands Halper the scrap. Halper goes to a nearby scrap bench, and inserts the scrap into the machine. He presses a button, and in a few seconds, it generates a large piece of armor. The group gets together, and Halper each hands them a fourth.
  265. JOBY:
  266. How does this even work?
  267. Mikey crushes the armor piece in his hand. The luminous blue liquid from it is absorbed by his body, and Blue armor appears over him. Everyone does the same. Halper uses the machine once more to craft a magazine for his machine gun. Outside the supermarket, unknown to the four, the words
  268. ZONE 2: BLACK CANYON
  269. Flicker in the sky.
  270. A HARVESTER generates out of nowhere and attacks our heroes, but Joby severely stuns it with his Skip-it. They pick it up, go into a kitchen and shove it into an oven. They turn the oven on.
  271. MIKEY:
  272. So what do we do now?
  273. HALPER:
  274. We need better weapons. Let’s go out the emergency exit. Pick up all the meat you can find.
  275. The four head pick up some corpses and large pieces of meat from the Deli and head out through the emergency exit. GLUTTONS start attacking them as they run out. They throw the meat to distract them.
  276. CITY – NIGHT
  277. The group makes it to a gun shop. On a TV, a news reporter frantically and anxiously talks about the invasion.
  278. REPORTER 2:
  279. President Bill Clinton has called in all four branches of the Military to take down the threat. Our Naval Submarines are being swarmed by monsters from STRAFE®. Our Air Force fighter jets are being shot down. Tanks are blowing up. But we will win. We will win.
  280. Buddy snags a shotgun. Mikey uncovers an UZI. Joby pockets an automatic pistol.
