Porygon 2 is actually one of my favorite Pokemon. I know most of you didn't even notice, buuuut I saved him 6 or 7 times and had no one yell at me about it, which is quite frankly a miracle. The reason I'm cutting him is because I'd rather put him down with the respect he deserves and not watch him get cut for being a competitive nightmare, which I am fully aware is a thing because Eviolite is pure evil. And I get it! I'd hate to battle Porygon 2! Luckily for me, I am using Porygon2 in the league, and I snagged him immediately just because he's such a bro.  :wink Using Recover, inducing all kinds of annoying stats, generally looking adorable while terrorizing teams... oh, how I love you.  :<3

I have always liked the Porygon line. I love the idea of progressing from polygons to a smooth, futuristic-looking Swedish wood toy bird (which is what I imagine students make for practice when using 3D software) to the messy glitch that is Porygon-Z. Everything about this line is basically perfect to me, including the color scheme. It's just a very novel, fun concept that also quite accurately shows the series' progression through time. The original Porygon is not something we'd see nowadays, and Porygon 2 following him next generation felt so right.

Its animation is also super cute.

Does Porygon 2 blink? The world may never know, as he was never in the anime thanks to its younger brother sending hundreds of kids to the hospital with seizures. The idea that the entire Porygon line is basically banned from being drawn or talked about as if they were basically Voldemort is so hilarious to me. I hope those kids are okay, though. Well, those grown-up, working and upstanding young members of society, anyway. *stretches and cracks back*

The entire Porygon line was given a lot of love in the games and they are super unique. Conversion and Conversion 2 are both exclusive to this line and it makes total sense for these Pokemon to be able to basically change their typing and programming at will. Trace, Download and Analytic are all abilities that just go very well with the spirit of this line as well. I also always thought Tri Attack was a very Porygon move, and while Dodrio could learn it because of its heads, it fits Porygon better.

Porygon 2 also has a totally random appearance in SSB Melee! I still don't fully understand why Porygon 2 of all Pokemon was chosen, but I love it nonetheless! He shows up and literally uses Tackle before disappearing into the abyss. It's so weird and unexpected. :<3 But it also means there's a Porygon 2 trophy for us 2001 kids to look at and zoom in and out of for funzies! Yes, sivso, 2001 was a real year that happened!!

Finally, I also adore Porygon 2 as a novel Pokemon concept! Created by THE POWER OF SCIENCE, Porygon 2 was programmed with artificial intelligence that has allowed it to develop its own gestures and even emotions. Why it was modelled to look like an adorable bird in the process, we do not know except that we can at least sigh in relief that it wasn't a catgirl. *glares at Japan* Porygon 2 was ultimately created so he would aid the PokeWorld in SPACE EXPLORATION! How fucking cool is that? However, as of Black/White, it was revealed that Porygon 2 was insufficient for reasons unknown. :(

Maybe one day we will see Porygon 3, astronaut, and a whole region will be developed with the concept of space exploration in mind! Oh god, wouldn't that be awesome? YES. Porygon 3 honestly needs to happen though. I like Porygon-Z and all, but it feels like such an obvious split evolution kind of Pokemon. It's just not the right amount of fireworks for this line to end. Maybe we could even go full Megaman Battle Network and have a region in which you can access the Internet and like, capture wild Porygon in there? Cyber-Pokes would kick a lot of ass and I'm sure we'd see a lot of very unique concepts developed around such a world. Either way, Porygon3, Internet Warrior and Astronaut, WILL one day become a thing and save the world. :gay

We love you, Porygon 2!! I do not regret any of the other 7 times I saved you! I'm proud of you and your perfection! May all Pokemon aspire to be like you, and may all Pokemon be as big a pain in the ass as you in battle. Amen.
