  1. 1 Introduction
  2. revo_kart.brsar is the main sound archive from Mario Kart Wii and it contains all the sound effects and Stream activators. You can open this file with a newer version from BrawlBox v0.68b. (Note: BrawlBox v0.75 has several bugs while saving the file and it's not recommended to use).
  3.
  4.
  5. 2 Editing sound effects
  6. When opening the file, you'll be able to see a list of indexes. Only RWSD and RBNK ones contains wave data, while External and RSEQ are internal controller files to make sounds be applied depending of the game conditions. Make sure to have backups, since this kind of file could stop working when you miss at some point of the editing, and it will be hard to find where is the error and fix it.
  7.
  8. -Please check the RBNK sub-files list to know what corresponds each Audio stored in this page I created: http://wiki.tockdom.com/wiki/Revo_kart.brsar
  9.
  10. 2.1 Tools I use:
  11. -Audacity v2.0.5.0
  12. -BrawlBox v0.70
  13.
  14. 2.2 Process
  15. -First, you need the sound file you want to replace with. Check in BrawlBox the properties of each Audio selecting the
  16. [X] InstParams which corresponds that Audio, in the "Data" column.
  17. -Open your sound in Audacity. If you have a working revo_kart.brsar, or just the original one, change the Channels and Frequency values of your sound with the sames of the original [X] InstParams.
  18. -Once finished, export the audio from Audacity as WAV, then, right click on the Audio[X] you want to replace, and click "Replace". Select your WAV, and then it will ask you for loop settings.
  19. -If you want your sound to be looped (it's not recommended to add loop in Audios that originally have no loop), check in the Loop box of the top, to activate it when importing, and the bottom one, to make play it with loop in the preview. Drag the yellow and red bars until you see a good loop point to set, then click in Okay, press Done or close the Index window, and go to File -> Save or press Ctrl+S to save your revo_kart.brsar.
  20.
  21. 2.3 Notes
  22. -If your sound is very big, or it doesn't have the same properties, it will make some of the sounds of that category stop working, mostly happened with a big starman music, that will make your game have no sounds in race. Just replace them with shorter versions and it will work again.
  23.
  24.
  25. 3 BRSTM patching
  26. If you noticed your BRSTMs stop at some point or they just don't loop, it's probably a revo_kart.brsar patch problem. When editing revo_kart.brsar and saving, it could take some space of your free BRSTM slot, and when making new BRSTMs then they stop in-game. Make a copy of your revo_kart.brsar before doing this.
  27.
  28. 3.1 Tools I use:
  29. -MKWii BRSAR BRSTM Patcher v1.0
  30. -BrawlBox v0.70
  31.
  32. 3.2 Process
  33. -Open MKWii BRSAR BRSTM Patcher, and click on the Load BRSAR button. Select your revo_kart.brsar. Make sure it's not renamed, because this tool only finds it if it's named revo_kart.brsar.
  34. -Open your BRSTM and select the index it corresponds. Then, click in Patch new Size. Repeat this step with every BRSTM you have not working.
  35. -Close the program and open the revo_kart.brsar with BrawlBox. In some PCs, depending of the location of your BRSTMs and BRSAR (mostly if you use an ISO instead Riivolution), the file could have been corrupted by path size. This is easy to fix.
  36. -Open your revo_kart.brsar backup. Then, where the indexes are, click on Type, to order them, so you only need to look for "External" ones. Do this in both files, and you could see some of the entries in the Name part are "strm", or they are cut off, or with a corrupted random name.
  37. -Right click each corrupted index, and click in Path...
  38. -You won't be able to delete from the root of strm\, because this is where your revo_kart.brsar is located. Just paste the same file path of your backup revo_kart.brsar. Repeat this step with every corrupted or incompleted External path you find.
  39. -Now, if you are going to save, you'll notice the tool will probably say: "No changes have been made". Just change any sound, and try to save again, and this will be fixed.
  40.
  41. 3.3 Notes
  42. -If your BRSTMs still cutting off, it's probably because they are very big or very long, try reducing the frequency and channels, and then patch again. If your revo_kart.brsar is too way big, I recommend to change some big sounds or music with shorter ones.
  43.
  44.
  45. 4 Making custom RSEQ entries (Advanced)
  46. This is a way to edit some of the sounds with a perfect pitch audio, useful for making custom Wi-Fi music. Please follow this video tutorial, since it's much easier to understand than only text:
