Hello Protestors,

The Bangladeshi government is trying to censor the coverage of your brave protests. Here are some resources dedicated to making sure that they cannot do that:

Briar Messenger (Android only):
Briar is an app that can send and receive messages with and without any internet coverage. Messages are also secure and encrypted, which means no one besides who you want to can read them. To get it:
1. Open your settings app.
2. Scroll to the security section.
3. Enable "Unknown Sources".
4. Go to one of these links, and download the file if it asks. (If one is broken, try another.)

5. Open it and install Briar.
6. Open Briar, and enter a nickname. DO NOT USE ANYTHING IDENTIFIABLE. RANDOM LETTERS ARE MOST SECURE.
7. Enter a **secure** password that ONLY YOU know.

To add contacts:
1. Swipe right, and make sure you are on the "Contacts" screen.
2. Press the plus button in the top right corner.
3. Make sure you are only adding contacts while you are there with them. You don't know who is on the other side of the phone!
4. Press "continue".
5. Scan your and your contact's QR Code.
6. Done!

Briar also has Forums and Private Groups, so you can share information both publicly and privately to many people.


The Onion Router (Android/iOS):
The Onion Router, or Tor, is a network of servers that allows you to bypass government filters and hide what websites you're visiting. Everything is secure and encrypted. To get it:

Android:
1. Make sure you followed steps 1-3 with Briar.
2. Go to one of these links, and download the file if it asks. (If one is broken, try another.)

3. Open the file, and install Orbot.
4. In Orbot, swipe left until you see "Done" at the bottom, and tap it.
5. Tap the three dots in the top right, and tap "Settings".
6. Scroll down until you see "Use Bridges". Tap it.
7. Tap "Bridges", delete everything in it, and paste this:

8. Press "Ok".
9. Press the back button on your phone, tap "VPN Mode", and if the onion doesn't turn yellow, tap it.
10. You are now connected!

iOS:
Download and install Onion Browser at https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/onion-browser/id519296448 . Unfortunately, you can only go to websites this this, and nothing else is protected. I recommend you use someone else's Android phone instead.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Don't use SMS!!! The government can see EVERYTHING you say. Use WhatsApp or Briar!
