- - Overall goal
- return to neutral as FAST as possible. Your goal should not be to avoid getting hit (e.g. fast fall aerial out of hitstun if it’s likely to not get punished instead of double jumping)
- - Don't double jump unnecessarily e.g.
- when you can freely land on stage
- or when it isn't improving your position
- - Double jump to attempt landing back on stage
- rather than risk being edgeguarded or ledgetrapped
- - Attempt to land centre stage
- - Fade back towards corner/ledge if you see your opponent dash back to cover centre
- - Double jump close to your opponent to force a reaction
- - If your opponent gives you space to land, take it! Don't drift towards them unnecessarily
- - Force your opponent to respect neutral airdodge
- - Mix up opponents patiently waiting for an airdodge by fast falling with an aerial instead
- - neutral airdodge as someone jumps towards you as they won't be able to fall with you
- - Never fall with your opponent at the same pace, jump, fast fall or stall
- - fast fall with aerials as you predict/react to your opponent jumping up to juggle you (especially if your aerials have large hitboxes
- - Be ambiguous (tricky) with your drift, by alternating directions mid air sometimes
- - Don't ONLY choose defensive options after returning to the stage, play neutral
