  5. -------------------------------------------------- 1. 選 - Choice --------------------------------------------------
  6.
  7. "...95%, it's practically all water...What a strange creature."
  8.
  9. After Fuyuko and Mei wrap up some shopping, the summer heat becomes excruciating. Fuyuko comments that she doesn't want to sweat much.
  10. To escape the heat, Mei takes them to a cafe that her friend had recommended to her. She describes it as a hideaway with a relaxing and cool atmosphere. Not without an excellent menu to boot. Fuyuko is looking forward to it, to which Mei is delighted. Fuyuko comments that if only a certain someone could also share the consideration towards others.
  11.
  12. Mei brings up the beach photoshoot they're scheduled for and how much she's looking forward to it. She mentions the swimsuit concept, but can't quite remember the name of the inspiration, describing it as a sort of flabby thing.
  13. "Jellyfish," Fuyuko fills in the blank. Continuing with her thought, Mei thinks it's got quite the interesting feeling.
  14. Fuyuko hopes they don't make them wear anything weird. She mentions that since jellyfish are composed of mostly water, it's not out of the realm of possibility they make a design that's completely transparent.
  15.
  16. Mei, astonished by the trivia about jellyfish, wonders why Fuyuko is so informed on the subject.
  17. Fuyuko says it's pretty common knowledge, upon which Mei admits that's the first she's heard of that.
  18. Upon Mei's honest response, Fuyuko discloses that she actually did some research since it's related to work.
  19. As Mei compliments Fuyuko, she has a sudden revelation about jellyfish.
  20. "If jellyfish are basically water, then when it's in water, how do you know there's a jellyfish?"
  21. Fuyuko is stumped, and Mei ponders the great mystery of jellyfish.
  22.
  23. Changing subjects, Fuyuko asks if Mei has prepared the proper countermeasures.
  24. With Mei confused, Fuyuko further elaborates that the beach is full of UV rays, and a strategy against the likes of sunburns, skin irritation, and acne is in order. Mei meekly responds that she's working on it. Fuyuko reminds Mei that she is responsible for herself and that the staff won't provide any particular care in that regard.
  25.
  26. Mei asks Fuyuko what kind of products she uses, upon which Fuyuko whips out an arsenal of creams and topicals.
  27. After going over them, Mei is impressed, comparing her stash to a storefront.
  28. "...It's all to uphold my usual Fuyu image. I can't be sweating in public, or else that ideal is broken."
  29. Mei agrees, knowing all to well Fuyuko's tendencies.
  30.
  31. The waiter arrives with their order and they dig in.
  32. After some cute eating sounds, Mei exclaims "...So spicy! Speaking of a hot day, this is what I'm talking about~"
  33. Fuyuko through the heat of the spices manages to exhale Mei's name.
  34. "...Huh!? Is it too much...? The Super Spicy Green Curry..."
  35. "Didn't I just say I didn't want to sweat...!"
  36. "...But it's still delicious...!"
  37.
  38. -------------------------------------------------- 2. 逃 - Escape --------------------------------------------------
  39.
  40. "Here...Where does the body begin...? You can't even tell."
  41. "Unlike Fuyu"
  42.
  43. Another excruciatingly hot summer day, Fuyuko and Asahi are out and about. Fuyuko complains about the heat, and Asahi just heaves a sigh in agreement.
  44. "I'm going to shrivel up before we make it back to the office."
  45. "How do you shrivel up?"
  46. "I don't know...Completely drain of all water..."
  47. "...I can't stop sweating..."
  48. "Fuyuko-chan, you've been complaining a lotsu."
  49. "Shut up...this much is just fine. In the first place, I went along for your sake after all...let me complain-"
  50. The sound of ringing distracts Asahi. Fuyuko comments that she might actually shrivel up at this rate and they should hail a taxi, but Asahi has other plans. She finds a shaved ice shop and goes off to buy some, dragging Fuyuko along.
  51.
  52. At a park, Asahi and Fuyuko eat their shaved ice. Asahi asks if Fuyuko's strawberry flavor isn't good after hearing a deep sigh. Fuyuko assures her it's fine, and that once they finish, they'll return to the office. Asahi wonders if it's still too hot for Fuyuko, upon which she says while the shaved ice isn't nearly enough, it was still a good proposition on Asahi's part. Admiring Asahi's energy, Fuyko mentions the beach photoshoot coming up. While Asahi is looking forward to it, she wonders if Fuyuko feels the opposite. Fuyuko clarifies that there's a lot to be cautious of about the beach shoot like sunburns and blemishes.
  53. "If you go into the water, won't it all be the same?"
  54. "Huh?"
  55. "Even if you're sweaty, everyone's at the beach and no one could tell."
  56. "...That wasn't even what I was talking about."
  57.
  58. "You should also take care not to get sunburnt. If you sweat, reapply sunscreen often."
  59. "Eh, that sounds annoying."
  60. "Even if it's annoying, do it. Sunburns are the hardest conditions to recover from."
  61. "That's why at the store earlier I picked out a bunch of things for you."
  62. "There's so many, I have no idea how to tell them apart."
  63. "Ah, gosh...! I'll teach you later so you can understand."
  64.
  65. Checking through the items that Fuyuko picked out for Asahi, she accidentally spills the melted contents of her shaved ice onto herself. She begins to leave to wash the syrup off with water, but not before sternly commanding Asahi to wait here for her. Asahi happily agrees.
  66.
  67. After spending some time cleaning off the syrup, Fuyuko returns to the bench to find Asahi gone. She thinks to contact Asahi's phone, only to realize she borrowed her bag to wash her clothes. Fuyuko in frustration searches for Asahi elsewhere. As she leaves, Asahi finally returns with a handfan to give to Fuyuko so she can fan herself. Unfortunately, she just missed her.
  68.
  69. Sometime later, back at the office, Fuyuko finally returns. Asahi is lounging in the office eating some ice cream.
  70. "Oh, you're finally back? What took you so long?"
  71. "Want ice cream? There's some in the fridge."
  72. "You...Kusogaki..." Fuyuko whispers under her breath.
  73. "....Wa..."
  74. "Wah...? What's wah?
  75. "....Water...."
  76. "Producer-san, Fuyuko-chan is all shriveled up!"
  77.
  78. -------------------------------------------------- 3. 遊 - Play --------------------------------------------------
  79.
  80. At the beach, the cameraman gives directions to the Straylight girls. The shoot finishes and they manage to end earlier than expected.
  81. As they wrap up, Mei was able to preserve her skin condition thanks to Fuyuko's advice. Asahi storms in raring to jump into the ocean, to which Fuyuko retorts that they've been at the beach all day.
  82. "But we haven't gone in the water at all"
  83. "Even then, it's not my say-"
  84. Before Fuyuko can finish, a staff member shows up to explain that since they're ahead of schedule, they have free time until the set teardown. As soon as the news bearer leaves, both Asahi and Mei exclaim the good ol' "Umi da~ (Umi-su~). Asahi wants to play, and Mei reasons that since they're already wearing swimsuits, they might as well go into the water. As they start to leave, Fuyuko manages to stops them.
  85. "Fuyuko-chan~ Since we're here, right? Just for a bit..."
  86. "...I wasn't saying we couldn't."
  87. "Okay, Cream...! It's still hot out, so reapply one more time."
  88. "Also, stay hydrated. If either of you collapsed from dehydration, Fuyu will regret this."
  89. "Okay/Haisu"
  90. As they run off to the beach, Mei asks Fuyuko if she's fine, what with sweat and all.
  91. "It doesn't matter...I'm a jellyfish, for now."
  92.
  93. Back at the set, the cameraman asks where the girls ran off to. After learning they went back into the water, he's surprised they went out in this heat. The staff mentions he'll take care of putting away the equipment, but the cameraman stops him and picks up the camera.
  94.
  95. "I wonder how long we can stay out here"
  96. "I want to play moresu!"
  97. "That's up to the staff"
  98. "There's something strange about this seashell."
  99. "? It doesn't seem out of ordinary to-"
  100. "...This shape, I feel like I've seen it before, it's almost like a face..."
  101. "Like...it resembles someone..."
  102. "Hmm...?"
  103. "-Producer!"
  104. "You think so?"
  105.
  106. As they make fun of Producer, the cameraman snaps a picture from afar. The candid photo turns out well, and the staff plans on asking Producer if they'd like to use that as the cover.
  107.
  108. "Wave incomingsu!"
  109. Straylight all drown
  110.
  111.
  112. **So there's a lot to dissect from the title and interpret based on how it could possibly be read.
  113. 浮遊 - float, drift. Is pronounced Fuyuu, so obvious wordplay here and relevant to the jellyfish aesthetic.
  114. 回帰 - regression, recurrence. In correlation to human psyche, regression concerns returning to an earlier state. In this regard, you can consider Fuyu embracing being a jellyfish in the 3rd commu as a form of positive regression in which she briefly accepts a state of not needing to uphold her "Fuyu" image and accepting the other 95% of herself.
  115. 回帰線 - (1) Linear Regression, a mathematical model based on two or more comparable variables. There's a lot of comparisons made throughout the commu, between Fuyu and Fuyuko, Mei and Asahi, Fuyu(ko) and Jellyfish, Producer and Seashell. In the case it is mathmatics, Float values have decimal points, something precise and not rounded, unlike Fuyuko.
  116. 回帰線 - (2) Tropics, an earth latitude range within the horizontal equator. Japan just so happens to be on the Sub-Tropic, which you could say is floating above the Tropics. Idk, this one kind of feels irrelevant, and simply just a temperature/geographical related reading that probably is inccorect.
